  1. I drive in to Midtown every day. The best route to take is I-20 to the connector and go north. I-20 is usually above the speed limit once you get past I-285 in the mornings. On the connector, once you get past 10th/14th Streets (this is only about 1-1/2 miles north of I-20), traffic breaks up. And, since you want to be there by 7 a.m., you will be ahead of most of the traffic going through downtown. Leaving at 4 pm will also put you ahead of a lot of the traffic, although you may hit some congestion going through downtown. I-20 in the afternoons usually moves above the speed limit back t
  2. Call the activities director or the social worker at the nursing home - I'm sure they would LOVE to have a volunteer.
  3. Actually, this is one of my job duties from time to time. I think that it's great that you're considering it, but be wary - most corporations and large firms handle their event planning on the inside, including negotiating hotel rates/contracts, air travel, caterers, flowers, etc. It's just more convenint (and cheaper) to have your own in-house person work on these things than it is to pay someone on the outside to handle it and it's much easier to keep that an employee within your budgetary constraints. As for wedding planning services, I would think that the market is there, if you can
  4. The princess's daycare is set up so that the doors going into the bathrooms in the preschool rooms (2's-4's) are glass doors - the door is only a half door (from the waist down on an adult). The potties are located so that the child gets a little privacy, but the teacher can see into the bathroom while she is teaching the rest of the class. The toddler and 2's classrooms have the potty in the changing table area which is also enclosed with half-height glass doors. You don't get a solid door until you move up into the school age rooms and adult bathrooms. The younger children are NEVER allo

    Forgiveness

Of course we should forgive the firefighters - they made a horrible mistake, but the family should forgive them. Hindsight is 20/20 and we can second guess and say that they could have/should have done things a million different ways - I'm sure the firefighters have done the same thing to themselves. But, I think it's important that the family forgive so that they (the family) can move on from this tragedy. Carrying around sorrow, anger and bitterness over a tragedy can take a deep toll on the family - hopefully they can forgive and start to heal from this.
  6. If Peggy doesn't work out, stop by one of the local Great Clips or whatever over by the hospital - chances are that one of them will volunteer to come over and do a haircut after he/she gets off of work.
  7. Hubby thinks it's pretty good, but I don't like it. The last time we were there, the service was terrible, the wings were not very good, and it was overpriced. I don't plan on going back, but hubby will order wings to pick up there from time to time.
  8. One of the things that we had to buy for the princess was an extra head rest for her infant car seat. The seat came with an infant head rest, but it was too big for the princess and her head moved too much. Witch hazel pads and Lanacane Spray are a must too, but they gave me plenty in the hospital so remember to bring those home with you -- once they're in your room in the hospital, you've paid for them so bring them home with you. Oh, take some regular pads with you to the hospital. They ones they will give you there are huge and not very comfortable - they were okay for night use

    GUCCI

Unfortunately, there are women out there who believe that the label defines their success and if they can't buy or talk about their latest designer purchase, then it somehow diminishes the person that they think they are (kind of like living in a fantasy world). You don't need a label to be confident and you don't need the labels to define your success - trust me, been there, done that.
  10. Maybe you should consider finding a new daycare. You should look for one that has a curriculum for 3s and 4s that includes more than just coloring and napping. If you are interested in an advanced Kindergarten placement, you may have to move him into a private school where they have more flexibility with the age requirements.

    GUCCI

I'm a reformed Labelaholic. I can't tell you the amount of money that I've spent shopping in all of the "right" stores and buying the newest and greatest of the season. Seriously, there were stores that would call me when the new lines would come in and offer to ship things directly to me - I was that bad. But, with age comes wisdom. For all of the money that I've spent on designer clothes, shoes, and purses, I've learned a valuable lesson - it really doesn't matter. Buy what makes you happy. And, if your happiness comes from impressing others with the label on your purse, it's time to wa
  12. Contactthe Mental Health Association of Georgia - 404.527.7175 - and see if they can give you the name of a counsellor or agency that can help. Good luck!!
  13. If you want something within driving distance, I would suggest Charleston SC. If you're willing to fly, head to New York.
  14. The princess's daycare offers a summer camp and school break days for older kids. They have a specific "school age" classroom set up like a coffee shop (complete with computers, older games, books, etc.) and they have a designated teacher that teaches the program. They have theme weeks where they spend the entire week doing and learning about something and try to take at least one outing that week to learn outside of the center (topics like photography, drama, cooking, magic, space, etc.).
  15. My daughter had a biting problem in daycare. Our center does not encourage or allow kids to bite back when they are bitten and I appreciated that - the last thing you want is a room full of 2-3 year olds biting each other every time they get frustrated/tired. What seemed to work well with the princess was an immediate intervention by the director - as soon as she would bite, the director (a man) would get on her level and tell her in a stern voice that biting was not okay and she was removed from the classroom and would be taken to the director's office and would have to sit for awhile.
  16. The princess is only 3 (well, almost) and we haven't made her start paying rent ... yet. As for my parents, they wanted us to focus on school, not so much on working when we were teenagers, so if we got a job, we had to keep our grades up and we could keep any money we made. On the same token, there were 7 kids in my family so there wasn't a lot of money floating around for new clothes, shoes, cars, etc. so any money we made usually went to pay for those "luxuries."
  17. Fox5 reports that it was a mother driving with her three children in the car. Here's the link to the story. I hope everyone is okay - prayers going out to all. http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpp/news/4-Injured-in-Paulding-County-Crash-012110

    WWYD?

Don't assume - If you're not sure what flavors they use, I would either call or pick up two different flavors and include it.
  19. I've been there several times and have enjoyed everything we've tried. My only complaint is that if I go by on a Saturday afternoon to pick up some last minute goodies, things are pretty well picked over - but, that just means that they've been busy all day so it's not really a bad thing. I love having a bakery on our side of the county. They're only a few minutes away from my house and the quality of their products is MUCH MUCH better than Kroger. I encourage everyone to go there - let's help this business succeed in this space.
  20. PLEASE lets waste more taxpayer dollars on this. There was a security breach, someone in the White House is in charge of security, hold them and the members of their team responsible. Quit holding senseless Congressional hearings and just take swift action to make sure it doesn't happen again.

    Female Dr.'s

I highly recommend Dr. Nanette Cook at Cobb Gynocologists by Cobb Hospital. She's awesome - I've been a patient of hers for several years. Very personable and straightforward.
  22. I've never had BOA ask me why I was making a money transfer or requesting a cashier's check out of our checking or savings account so I'm not sure. My guess is that if the money is in a retirement account or other tax deferred account, there may be tax consequences for moving the money early if it isn't going into another retirement account. If there aren't tax consequences, I'm not sure why they asked, but I would ask them why they need to know. There is probably a simple explanation for it.
  23. First, you need to find out what court in which the case is being prosecuted (state, superior, federal court). If it's federal court, that information is available online through the court's website, but for a fee. If it's state or superior, it depends on the county. Some counties, like Cobb, have their cases online and you case see the status of pending and closed cases. Paulding (unless it's changed in the past few months) does not have this information online and you will have to go to either call the clerk's office or go to the courthouse to find out the information. If you don't have
  24. I see your point, but unfortunately, the term "distracted" could be argued in court to be so subjective as to have a different meaning for a different person simply based on what may be a distraction to you, may not be a distraction to another driver. So yes, we do need a law that spells out the consequences for driving while talking on your cell phone or while texting (in the same way that we need a law that makes driving under the influence illegal).
