  1. Another idea: A crystal clock, engraved with the official title of the command or section, his services dates and something like "thank you for your leadership and service from ..." Things Rembered at Town Center or Arbor Place usually has some nice clocks. Or maybe Mori Luggage & Gifts.
  2. We (and several other people I know) used Cox & Sheffield and I highly recommend them.
  3. Depending on how much time you have, you could request a flag be flown over the U.S. Capitol in his honor. I did this for my hubby's retirement from the military, but I had to order it a few months in advance. You can order it through Sen. Isakson or Sen. Chambless's office. You could also get a picture of everyone in your section, have it matted and framed - have everyone sign the mat.
  4. That's one thing that has never bothered me when someone asks. In fact, a couple of my credit cards (the ones with higher limits) have "SEE ID" for my signature. The downside is that with stores letting customers scan their own credit cards, it's a lot easier for someone to get away using a stolen credit card.
  5. That's a bargain - I pay $225 a week for the princess's daycare (whether she's there or not).
  6. Did you guys notice that when the wrestler hobbled on his crutches last week to see Alli, that when he started out, one foot was "broken," but when he got there, the brace was on the other foot?
  7. You're absolutely right, I just checked out her profile page.
  8. I do a modified version of it. Instead of shining the kitchen sink, the bathrooms are my source of joy - I can't stand a nasty bathroom and when my bathrooms are clean, I feel like I can do anything else. So, I don't focus on making sure that kitchen sink is shining, but I do scrub it once a week and then spray it with glass cleaner (and also dry it out every night after I finish loading the dishwasher - it someone uses it after that, I don't freak out). But, because I work, my morning routine consists completely of just getting ready for work and getting the princess ready for school.
  9. Honestly, I get the cheapest fares directly from the airlines. AirTran flies directly to Grand Bahama Island; Delta flies directly to Nassau. Fare sales usually start on Tuesday and booking 30 days in advance usually saves you the most money - the closer you get to your travel date, the more expensive it gets. Both AirTran and Delta will give you the final fare cost before you book them.
  10. Call LifeSmiles of New Hope - I've heard great things about them.
  11. We haven't seen Dr. Brown yet but we've seen Dr. Murray once. She is good too, but the princess really likes Dr. Davillier and I like that she is willing to listen and answer any questions or concerns that I have.
  12. I love Dr. Davillier at East Paulding Pediatrics.
  13. Nah, the feds will keep doing exactly what they are doing -- saying they are on top of the situation and not doing anything. If this works, they will jump on the bandwagon and start encouraging other coastal river communities to do the same thing and will try to figure out a way to take credit for it.
  14. That's because we all know who the important posters are around here!!
  15. This link should give you the list: http://www.zip-codes.com/search.asp?fld-zip=&fld-city=&fld-state=GA&fld-county=Paulding&fld-areacode=&Submit=Search+for+ZIP+Codes
  16. I don't know what the going hourly rate is for a nanny, but at $250 a week, that equates to about $10 an hour if you work 25 hours a week. Consider your other employment options and if the rate of pay is worth what you're doing. One thing to keep in mind is that as the children get older, they rely on a nanny for hands-on attention less (compared to smaller kids), so perhaps that is why the parents are interested in paying less.
  17. What if you take her to one of those places that do threading on the eyebrows? That is supposed to be a lot less painful than waxing.
  18. Nixle report says: "Hiram bank robbery suspect: black male, purple shirt, blue carpenter pants, white ballcap, short afro, silver handgun."
  19. I spent many years driving into downtown from Conyers and then from Gwinnett. Hubby used to drive in from the Southside. Trust me on this one, we have it made on the west side. I-285 on the east and north side are horrible and I-85 and I-20 coming in and out of town are always backed up. Unless there is an accident, we are able to drive above the speed limit on I-20 once we get past I-285 in the mornings - that doesn't happen coming into Atlanta from any other direction.
  20. If they are from out of state, this could be mail fraud. It might be worth calling the non-emergency number at the SO and talk to them about it - you may be able to help catch a crook.
  21. It depends on the insurance plan and the doctor's office, but I'm pretty sure that most dentists would prefer to get paid up front by the patient and not have to wait for the insurance company. My insurance company will pay either way - if the doctor bills it or if I pay and submit it for reimbursement.
  22. Grilled asparagus (toss in olive oil and seasoning salt and grill) or fresh green beans tied into bundles with bacon - sprinkle with seasoning, grill them until the bacon is done or bake them in over until done. Roasted new potatoes. Marinated vegetable salad.
  23. So wouldn't that now make you just as guilty of wasting taxpayer dollars as the BOC? (Sorry, couldn't resist). Unfortunately, none of us know what the attorneys' strategy or legal theories are in this case or in others that might occur. Why are they willing to spend so much money? I could guess that maybe they truly believe they are right or maybe they are trying to protect the county from a precedent setting lawsuit - who knows. I could make tons of guesses as to why they are doing what they are doing, but only the parties who are privvy to the legal defenses of the case know the
  24. I would be VERY surprised if any candidate responded to this, they would be opening a can of worms and exacting their opinions on something where they do not know all of the details. Good luck with your day in court.
