Another nail in the coffin for the 1 cent store.......
brown*eyed*girl replied to dawneykids's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I am with those who have said they shop their more in the last few months than ever. I hope your experience isn't an indication of them having another nail in the coffin. When your ordered did they tell you it would come in earlier than what you are now being told? When I ordered from them before Christmas and they had free shipping I got my items shipped to my house much sooner than expected (two days after the night I placed the order). I wouldn't have normally done it that way but they didn't carry the "tall" size pj's I wanted for my 5' 10" inch daughter in the store and the shipp -
How exciting! I'm so happy you've finally got your home in Florida. I remember the frustrating posts about trying to get one and all the obstacles you have faced. I hope to be a Florida resident myself one day.

I've never been to either and while I personally would love to go to Hawai,I struck by the number of people who go to Alaska and just love it. My Aunt and Uncle at one point were going on Alaskan cruises once a year. Now that they have a handful of Grandkids they tend to spend their travels with them.

Thanks Blondie for making me laugh. Today has been a rough one and I sure needed it.

Wow, that's awesome. He sounds like an amazing young man with a bright future ahead of him.

I have also used them, more than once I am afraid to say and they are really nice people. Good Luck. I don't have an I-Pad but I can feel your pain.

Continuation of the I am frustrated with my neighbors
brown*eyed*girl replied to jmd's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I have two dogs that I walk each day and it drives me nuts when people don't pick up after their dogs. If I don't keep an eye on one of my dogs she will eat, well you get the idea. For a while last year I started picking up other dogs poo while I was out but I finally quit. We have a lot of dogs in our neighborhood and I don't like carry the baggie with my dogs poo in it much less someone elses. My husband thinks its silly that I pick up after them and my neighbor once told me he didn't mind at all - called it free fertilizer (he does have a nice looking lawn come to think of it). Of cour -
The penny store sent me 2 coupons by email.....
brown*eyed*girl replied to dawneykids's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Me too but it was no surprise. P.com has already had a discussion or two on JCP bringing back the coupons. I for one support their efforts. Sometimes it takes a couple of wrong turns to get you in the right direction. I shop there now more than ever in part because of some of the changes I heard the newer guy up top talking about on TV. -
Southern Airways Flight 242 Traveling Display
brown*eyed*girl replied to accesspaulding's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I think a traveling display would be interesting to see. Sadly I will be out of town on the 24th but one of these years I plan to make the memorial service. Thanks for posting this info. -
Why would someone take a picture of my car?
brown*eyed*girl replied to blondchevygrl's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I've taken pictures of cars with eyelashes, bunny ears and reindeer noses. But only because I have a friend who hates them so I like to post them to her facebook from time to time. -
We've been here 12 years and have used W.A.D.E., then BLD and now American and have been happy with the service at all of them. We have neighbors who use Trash taxi and they seem to be happy with them. The type of service seems to vary by location and we've always been lucky to get great service. I would look around and see who some of your neighbors are using and then ask if they are happy with them or just watch for a few weeks to see if their trash gets picked up on a regular basis, if the containers are put back neatly and if they offer recycling. We are probably going to be switching a

There's this guy named Craig, and he has a List..
brown*eyed*girl replied to glassdogs's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I've had both good luck and not so good luck selling things on Craigslist. Last fall I listed a "rose colored chair" that was my daughters and got an overwhelming response. Of course no one wanted the chair. The first response started something like "I am interested in your chair but more interested in meeting you". I was told I sounded nice, kind, approachable, like someone who would make a good friend, etc.. They described themselves as lonely, new to the area, looking to make friends, etc.. Every last one of them included a picture. Usually of a girl in a thong. At first I would open -
Clearly you have never waited or bartended if you think all that person does is hand you a drink. Was your area of the bar and stool clean? Were you offered a mug with your beer? Did your bartender give you a beverage nap or leave peanuts or anything out for you? Did he/she make conversation with you while you were waiting on someone or listen to you talk or chat with you if you were just there alone? Who do you think sets up the bar, cleans up the bar, stocks the bar, cuts the fruit, etc... I don't know any bartenders who simply show up to work and start handing out bottles of beer. The

How rude, what do you care if someone tips 50%? If they can afford it and want to do it let them. Just about every waiter/waitress I know has been stiffed before and these kind of tips can make their day.

Reminds me of the time a couple of years ago I hid my husbands birthday cake in the oven. Of course he came home and pre-heated it for one reason or another For the record, if they have a problem with a sink full of dirty dishes then they aren't worth the trouble. I wish the only thing messy in my house was a sink of dishes.

I'm not so sure I agree. These days when I want to rent a movie I look to Redbox and Blockbuster Express. If they have the movie I want or if they both do and I have a code for one of them that is the one I get. It never occurs to me to go to the Blockbuster store or wait to have it delivered in the mail. We did try their online service and it just didn't work out. Movies took to long to arrive or show as returned, the small print was unclear, etc.. I ended up getting charged for something that took forever to arrive and then never got around to returning it. It was one disc in a box set

Wow, this has me tearing up. I hope Cancer and Alzheimers are next. -
Our service is slow here in New Hope. I just ran the speedtest and it said we were getting 1.19 download and .27 upload. A lot of times lately we are getting in the .7 to .8 rang for download. We called and they agreed it should run higher but in the end they said our service didn't guarantee a speed only "up to" a speed. We currently pay @$37 for up to 1.5. We looked into getting Uverse but it isn't offered in our area yet so tonight we made an appointment for Xfinity to be installed. Should be about the same price for a much higher speed. We also can't get Direct TV on Demand to load

Four new products test positive for horsemeat

My first thought was that maybe up to 1% could the result of a scandalous horse-cow relationship several generations back (like the Ark)? -
I also tip 20% + when I go out. And that is on the total bill before any discounts or coupons or freebies. I have no idea what I used to tip like before I graduated from college. If it was bad I want to more than make up for it now. It takes extremely poor service to get less than 20% from me. I worked in food service for a few years when I was younger and then owned a restaurant so I've seen many bad tips and many good ones. One thing I realized is that the majority of people who tip poorly just don't know better. I can remember going out to each with my Grandpa one time and he had a

We got this off Amazon a few years back: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003CT37LA/ref=twister_B003CT37L0?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If the link doesn't work go to Amazon and type in Sleep Innovations Mattress. It is supposedly very much like Tempur Pedic without the expensive price tag. Before we got it I had to take Motrin or Advil or something before going to bed because the back and body pain I was having from are regular mattress was just about unbearable. Both my husband and I would wake up several times at night and in the morning it hurt just to get out of bed. The first nigh

I was also there that night and asked how the store was doing. The lady checking me out said that the Hiram store was doing very well and not in any danger of closing (not that I would think she would know if it was but still). I have shopped there more in the past 6 months than I did in the past 6 years. I think the store has a newer, younger vibe to it. I like the clean look and the pricing as well. We bought my daughter a ring for her Sweet 16 there and the inventory in that department moved quickly. After Christmas the displays looked nearly empty and now they have a lot of new s

Did anyone go to the family dance at Abney tonight?
brown*eyed*girl replied to dawneykids's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I guess I'm stumped as to why if you love the school and are so involved you would throw them under the bus on a public forum instead of contact the PTA and make some suggestions for next years dance? I wasn't there last night (the youngest has moved on to middle school), but I've been to the previous 10 Abney family dances and while not always my idea of a relaxing, fun evening my kids always had a great time. So much so that two of my kids love to go back and volunteer at such events when they can. I agree it is dark but the kids love, love, love the glowing bracelets, rings, etc. t -
I'm still on Season two as well. Just can't seem to find the time. Well, whenever I do have a bit of free time I grab a nap or clean. My oldest two are looking forward to Sunday nights return.
