Letter Carriers Food Drive, May11, 2013
brown*eyed*girl replied to ButterflyLion's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I put a couple of cans in the mailbox and it was taken. This post reminded me about something that happened to my Dad one year. He is a retired postal worker. The last few years he was sent to be post master of a small town and a couple of the ladies who worked their were not happy that a friend of theirs did not get the gig (but I believe did get the gig at another local post office a bit later on). Anyways, my poor Dad, these two women just made him miserable in many ways. When it came time for food drive they refused to pick up the food so he went around both their routes himself t -
I noticed the same thing on some of our trees and was wondering so thanks for posting this.

Student Yells At Teacher About Her Teaching Methods
brown*eyed*girl replied to NewsJunky's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I think the kid acted like a mature kid. He still acted like a kid but at the same time you could tell he held back while trying to get an important message across. Most kids wouldn't say anything even if they were thinking the same thing or they wouldn't really care enough in the first place. Yes he was disrespectful in some ways but I don't know what else he had already done prior to this video (not just that day but previously) to make his point. He seemed frustrated and passionate. I find it refreshing in that he cared about learning. I bet he and his classmates talked about this clas -
It seems like there was and probably still is a lot of misinformation about this case on the news the past few days. I'm hoping in the coming days the facts will start to come out. I think news people are just so anxious to be the first to report something that they don't take the time to check the accuracy of the information they are given. I was so confused at first on whether one of the girls escaped, was rescued after being heard yelling and pounding or what. I'm still a bit confused to tell the truth. I did see an interview with a cousin yesterday who was just shocked. She said she ha

The daughter of Flight 242's copilot finally speaks out
brown*eyed*girl replied to Clifford Davids's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Thanks for posting that. I didn't live here back then but have lived in the New Hope area for over 12 years now and am fascinated by it's history - both good and bad. It's obvious what a great pilot he was when you see what he had to deal with and the area he landed the plane in. -
My older two kids who watch with me are in shock. I was not surprised. I knew something was up. I didn't know what but I was pretty sure it wasn't going to end the way it looked like it might. SPOILERS BELOW: I was bummed that Debra died and I'm not 100% convinced that Joe is dead. The news lady said he was killed just like he predicted in his book. I think he set it up and that there was a trap door or something beneath him. I mean why would he not jump in a car and drive away or get on the boat? I could be wrong. I mean Emma was bawling like a baby so maybe he

First to the OP~ I did not mean to give you a negative and can now not figure out how to change that. Anyways, I'm glad I opened this topic. I am not big on seafood but I do love Grouper and will have to check this out one day. Where exactly is it located?

Kid #1 went to two different high school plays/musicals this weekend and said this show was the funniest of the two. Great job!! -
Anyone see the finish to the Masters yesterday?
brown*eyed*girl replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Love the Masters and this year did not disappoint. I loved the ending and was excited to see Adam win. He came in second a few years back and has been oh so close to winning a major in the past few years. I had the Masters app on my phone and he was one of a handful of people I picked to follow. Even my 16 year old daughter got into it and she has been giving me grief about my golf watching for years. Looking forward to the upcoming U.S.Open in just a few short months! -
I've looked for some in the area for my daughter who is into photography without any luck. However, recently I have seen some Groupons for photography classes. Haven't bought any yet but some are one on one and others are with a group. Usually for a few hours. If I find anything local I'll be sure to pm you.

Wow, discount grocery store adds 10% to your purchase

This may be a dumb question but why don't they just price things 10% higher? -

I didn't know either -
I agree with the OP 100%. In fact that drive is one of the main reasons my kids don't go to North. We had been districted to NP and then were re-districted the year my oldest was starting high school. My middle child begged to go to North and I told him if he really hated EP I would consider it but that he would never be allowed to drive himself to school. It's not just the kids I worry about. I have found myself going to fast on that road and I consider myself a safe driver. It's just a scary road and I am surprised nothing has happened yet. I will say whoever decided having one ent

I witnessed something similar once and it literally gave me nightmares. I hope karma catches up with this mother.

Thanks, I think I'm going to go watch the teams practice today at the Georgia Dome and then maybe take the kids over the weekend or on Monday if they are interested for some of the other activities. Watching the practices is free but getting into the actual "Bracket Town" area does cost a little. $10 for adults and $6 for kids, however McDonalds cups have had a half price code on them for the past few weeks and I think I saved one so it really won't cost much at all. Parking may cost me more than the actual tickets.

Just wondering if anyone has been to one of these in past years either here or in another city? I've seen the half off code on McDonald's cups for the past few weeks and thought it might be a fun thing to do to start Spring Break. I was looking at the schedule and if the kids didn't have school tomorrow I would definitely be taking my youngest to watch Michigan practice. He loves basketball and was born in Michigan, although he didn't pick them to win the whole tournament he does have them in the finals. Anyway, I just wondered what else went on that maybe wasn't on the official sch

Just thought I would share our latest result. For anyone following a month ago we had Bellsouth/At&T and were getting download speeds between 0.7 and 1.2, then we got Xfinity and our download speed went up to 12.0 +. When we had that installed the guy recommended we update our Router which I did over this past weekend. I bought a Netgear 300 at Walmart and retested our speed and we are currently getting over 25 as our download speed. When we first got Xfinity the internet would go out on mine and my daughters laptops (The router and modem are up in my sons room and we were down one flo

Soooo many "egg hunts", wonder if kids are tired of them!
brown*eyed*girl replied to jazzygirl's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Only the youngest (6th grade) wanted his eggs hidden this year so out I went in the rain to hide them late last night. We've decided next year the older two will have to go back to participating since it wasn't quite as much fun. I hid 12 eggs and they all had my sons name on them (from previous years to make sure everyone gets the same amount). I probably have well over 100 plastic eggs but chose not to use them. My kids tend to like the hunt and the getting of candy more than most candy. At Halloween they usually give away much more than they keep but they still like dressing up and goi -
When we went a few years back it seems like I remember juniors/kids were free with a paying adult. LOVE me some Masters. Enjoy!!! Found this: http://www.augusta.com/masters/faq If you scroll down it addresses the kids free "protocols".

http://www.speedtest.net/result/2607311227.png We switched from Bellsouth to Xfinity on 3/13 and I hadn't run a test since. This is 10x better than we were getting with BS. It does go out several times a day which my husband thinks is because of the $10 yard sale Router we got 3 years ago. I meant to buy a Netgear 450? but got home and realized I bought a Belkin. I am now trying to find out before I open it, if it will be compatible with the Xfinity Modem or not. My son recently built his own gaming computer and I need to make sure I get enough of whatever he needs for that. Bef

I think that rule only applies to the title of a thread. You can post it inside the thread as far as I know.

I too am sad to hear they have closed. I'll admit though we haven't been there in years. Yes we go to S & S's and that is mainly because everytime I turn around one of my kids has come home with a coupon for a free $5 game card. Not to mention with PTA memberships at all the schools my kids attend and have attended you get one of those $5 cards. I hate to waste "free" coupons myself. Also they have great prices if you go at certain times. I would never go there without a coupon or to take advantage of a special rate. I don't necessarily think the PBC needed to update their look b

I've noticed it as well with prepackaged type food like granola bars. You used to get 10 in a box and now it's 6 or 8.
