Yeah, what's saved in sales tax could be spent instead on shipping that great stuff the Amish make. Why not just roll back the clock a hundred years or so, abandon all this fancy technology and live off the land - although many people who can't afford to pay increased sales tax probably can't afford to buy a home with land, either. As for keeping appliances and the like running, most of the stuff sold today isn't worth the cost to repair, if parts are even available. Many of the problems, both economic and otherwise, we face in this country are a result of politicians ignoring

Tax penalty to hit nearly 6 MILLION people
rednekkhikkchikk replied to Mama Carol's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Um, mine is almost that much w/BCBS through my employer. I am the only one covered on my plan. No health/medical problems, not on any meds and have probably not filed more than a half dozen claims in 25 years. $1000 deductible I am sure the cost is partly due to the # of employees in our "group" - 2. And I am in the insurance business. Go figure. -
'Middle Class' is $200K and above
rednekkhikkchikk replied to dumbestgirlintheworld's topic in Paulding County NEWS
That would be the same tax system that the 'slugs' who get a check despite paying nothing in are working. Kudos to the guy who already has more than enough money to last the rest of his life for being smart enough to slice a hefty sum off his tax bill on the backs of those of us who have no such advantage but hellfire & damnation to those who have so little income they're able to lay claim to a couple thousand dollars every year. No telling how many of those 'deadbeat' refunds it would take to equal the amount Romney doesn't pay each year after he works the system. If someon -
I'm of the opinion that we have some of the worst state politicians in the country.

BILL CLINTON.........YOU LOVE HIM OR YOU HATE HIM

Since when is it the president's responsibility to create jobs? -
I don't know the reason (given the number of people on the internet who wouldn't know a sharp wit if they were shot clean through with it, I doubt that's it) but it's unfortunate that he chose to leave.

Yeah man I was trying to figure out who is Reese? I thought I must've missed something major. Didn't see JJ whup anybody, though, so I guess there's that. Criminal Minds & New Girl are about the only shows I care to watch. And Fringe.

how to pronounce Mein Mitchell Road?
rednekkhikkchikk replied to MissSophie's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The people I know who live on that road say 'mean'. Probably the only way to know for sure is to find out who or what the road is named after and ask someone with personal knowledge of the name & where it comes from. I'm from Paulding County, attended Hiram Elementary for 6 years & never even heard of the road until a few years ago... -
(psst...they do it to get re-elected) Do you really believe a company would pay millions upon millions of dollars for lobbyists to have them 'grease the track' for something that's going to happen anyway?? If they spend that much money to buy their way into state legislatures and congress, how much more valuable must the favors they are seeking be?

I saw one a year or so ago on Braswell Mountain Road - just saw it for a few seconds as it crossed the road but it looked more like a wolf than a coyote to me. Had a longer, thicker coat and was a good bit bigger than any coyote I've ever seen. Saw a fox once on Coots Lake Rd. but that was years ago

I lived in some apartments nearby for awhile in the mid 80s. We went there exactly once. It was ok as far as bars go - considering the neighborhood. Been years since I thought of that place. One of my neighbors was also in his TROUBLE video.

Well, it would look like home to those of us who never left LOL

JK Rogers' Assessment of State Senate Runoff
rednekkhikkchikk replied to Mason Rountree's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Yep. Outside politics few people would care to associate with someone who will say or do anything to get what they want...not sure why we put up with it from the people who claim to be seeking public office to serve their constituents and whose salaries we pay. So many claim to want term limits, you'd think we could get rid of some of those who have spent so many years in office yet done so little for their constituents during their time there. Not sure if it's a lack of confidence in the field of candidates seeking to unseat them, straight party-line voters or the number of people w -
The reality of this article is scary
rednekkhikkchikk replied to mhparker92's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I can't get my kids in with the doc when they are sick or hurt - their annual physicals had to booked 8 weeks in advance until I pitched a fit because oldest can't miss school and the next available appointment when he's not in school is in April 13. Ok, I'm not getting how the requirement to scedule a physical in advance relates to not getting to see a doctor if your child is sick or injured? Would the doctor not be more busy than usual with school starting, etc, thus justifying the requirement to schedule non-urgent appointments in advance? Did they implement this requirement without a -
What IS silly is someone who refuses to read a linked article, etc. because it hasn't been given a title. Especially someone who can't decide why the lack of a title bothers them so... Get over your pompous self already.

This is why your kids need their shots...
rednekkhikkchikk replied to bvrat5199's topic in RECENT TOPICS
For those who say their kids have never been sick despite not having been immunized, you do know that most people who are carriers only spread disease and seldom suffer or show any sign of illness themselves, right? -
This particular member identified himself on here several months ago in a thread about a certain candidate's campaign. While I can't say with certainty that what you've suggested could never happen, I'm pretty sure that isn't the case here.

A birthday party/gift is not a 'showing of love' or however it was stated earlier...it is an indulgence.

Looking for the following cemeteries - Baker, Kennedy & Garner
rednekkhikkchikk replied to MamaJess's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I've seen a family cemetery on a map (danged if I can find it now) on Brushy Mountain Rd; I want to say it was somewhere in the vicinity of the Cuts and the little schoolhouse, and it's almost certainly on private property...whether Baker was the name I don't recall, though. I'll ask around & see if anyone can tell me for sure. My neighbor Mrs Camp used to tell me lots about the area but she passed away years ago... Dale or some of the others at the geneological society can probably tell you - like someone else said you can go to the FB page and ask or even go visit them in perso -
Board of Commissioners Decide to Raise Tax Millage
rednekkhikkchikk replied to kp527's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Still doesn't make sense to continue furlough days while giving a raise. Eliminate the furlough days so that offices are open and services available to the people who must pay the higher tax. Geez. -

I've often wondered who would pay for infrastructure while commercial enterprises who locate here are operating tax-free thanks to these incentives...guess this answers my question. -
