And it stayed hidden or whatever for 62 days? I would think it would have died without food or water for that length of time And why didn't it go all the way home with the owners if it was in their vehicle? Too many unanswered questions to just dismiss it outright. Animals have sharper instincts than we do.

Modern Parenting may hinder brain development
rednekkhikkchikk replied to gog8tors's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I wondered how it worked out with the dog/s(?) when the baby came along. That answers that question...lol. There is much to be said for parental instincts. I think no information at all would be preferable to the conglomeration of contradictory data about child-rearing to which parents are subjected anymore. -
Yeah if you think about it it's as much corporate welfare as it is personal. The individual through whose hands it passes is just the middleman. Why does nobody villify those who created the program in such a way rather than the ones doing what they're allowed to do, as most would?

Georgia bans some vanity license plates on a whim

If they pull them after a complaint, why not issue the ones that aren't clearly prohibited and then see how it goes? Seems to me that would at least prevent costly lawsuits. Not complicated or costly enough to do it that way, I suppose... -
I don't know what the solution is. I'm sure the number of children killed either accidentally or intentionally by firearms in their own homes and by random gunfire in their neighborhoods every year is at least several times the number killed in CT. If you can pass a background check (I assume-I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) you can buy as many guns as you want but can't buy more than 3 boxes of Sudafed within a 30 day period. Where is the logic in that? People are advocating for armed personnel in schools but that only increases the chance of an accidental shooting or pos

Extreme for a theft? They run high speed pursuits which endanger motorists, pedestrians and anyone else in the immediate vicinity to catch people who steal cars or simply refuse to stop for police all the time. I don't think there's a measurement of what's too extreme if there's a chance to make an arrest. Don't know whether that's actually the case, but that's how I see it.

Ok Now they are just screwing with us !

Easiest solution would be for us to stop trying to live forever. -
Whatever it is now, it probably isn't the proper way to do it. Not much is anymore. Read Dear Miss Manners for a week. She is regularly appalled at some of the stuff that goes on now... lol

"My friends who have found jobs paying 1/3 to 1/2 of what they were making and now have no benefits will be comforted with "it can and will change, and there will be some rough spots along the way". That's not the government's fault, that's the fault of those doing the hiring...and it's not because they lack confidence, it's because it's more profitable to pay less and offer no benefits. This has been going on for more than a decade - laying off or firing long time employees and then hiring new ones for lower pay & fewer or no benefits.

maybe brown them & then cook in the crock pot or make purlough or some other chicken dish with them...

There is a commerce member here who advertises alterations, not sure on the zipper. There is a dry cleaners in downtown Dallas who has done this type of work for my sister in the past, too.

I have two twin sized air mattresses if the queen doesn't fit...maybe you could make one or both of them work. There is an old Coleman camping stove at my house, don't know if it works or not. Welcome to that, too, if you want it. I would try to put some kind of cover (tarp, for example)over a w/d kept outdoors. I think rain & moisture might not be good for the internal parts... -
I never park in the designated handicapped or van accessible spaces but the unofficial spaces designated by stores for 'Parents with Children' are fair game if I'm pushed for time and/or it's very cold or raining. Seems to me all spaces except those for the disabled should be available for 'Customers With Money to Spend'. Besides, when and where will children learn to walk amid moving vehicles without being run over if not a parking lot?

If I can get there before 5 I plan to go by the Dallas library for pecans. Depends when I can get out of the office

I saw somewhere that they are collecting used cell phones for service members but I don't remember where I saw it - probably the AJC...

I'm sorry to hear of this. My thoughts are with her family. -
No, we only need the government to protect us from radical Islamic terrorists. In every other case we can deal with it on our own, if it can be dealt with at all, and don't trample the few rights we didn't happily surrender for the terrorist thing, either.

That's her. And honestly, I thought she hadn't changed so much since we were kids myself. I don't know that she was overly smart - not saying she wasn't, saying I don't know - but I do know she wasn't stupid or dull-minded. As I recall she seemed to be a good student & definitely not a slacker. While she may not be what some would consider attractive, the derogatory comments in this thread about her appearance are ridiculously overstated. It's a mug shot. They're not meant to be flattering. At least she wasn't grinning from ear to ear like a lunatic or hair & make-up

Are people really that needy for attention
rednekkhikkchikk replied to HardwareDJ's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Not a morning person or a people person unless I'm cornered and have no choice - when that happens, though, I try to at least be polite if not pleasant. Best to avoid eye contact altogether as even the stoniest glare could be seen as a challenge by the more enthusiastic greeters... -
Geez. I went to school with her from elementary school til graduation. She wasn't at all stupid - at least not as stupid as this would seemingly indicate - back then. There were some people in our class I could picture doing something this (or worse) but she wasn't one of them. Didn't associate with that crowd, either, as I recall. Go figure.

Interesting question I heard on the news this morning
rednekkhikkchikk replied to kcarlsonlpn's topic in RECENT TOPICS
But when the day comes that your adult son decides to kill you and almost 2 dozen children and adults at a nearby school, I think to not have it if you don't require it would be the ideal. But really, the problem is less about guns and more about people being left on their own to deal with emotional and mental issues or just stress and loneliness while those around them are too busy with their own lives to recognize a problem, much less bother trying to help, before it's too late. Which is also why nobody ever seems to see it coming. They couldn't be bothered to look for it. -
Gotta agree... the media overload & public's obsession on these type tragedies is probably the #1 reason for not only copycats but others who feel it's the best way to get the attention they obviously are in desperate need of. If people could pull their nose out of their phones & computers & interact with other humans long enough to recognize when there's a problem it would do much more than gun control or parading experts across the tv news shows toward preventing these occurrences.
