New Jersey turns away Non-Union Utility workers
rednekkhikkchikk replied to kwood's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Sounds like an issue for New Jersey and Alabama to work through. What business is it of ours? -
I think when he said 'the mirror was here" he was indicating with his hand to the reporter that it was elsewhere in the room... Well either way if the drugs belonged to the owners, why on earth would they call police out & show it to them? A little over the top on the part of the cops if you ask me.

When we were young enough to really want to trick or treat we lived in a rural part of the county & had to be driven around to the homes of relatives & friends. By the time we lived in a neighborhood where we could safely walk & go out by ourselves, I wasn't really interested in going anymore.

Same thing goes on over at the PSC. The people who regulate utilities in this state (and approve rate increases, etc) take in tens of thousands of dollars either directly or indirectly from the very utilities they are supposed to regulate. My Georgia Power bill now includes about $15 in additional fees every month PLUS they charge sales tax on those fees. Altogether it adds about $20 a month to my bill over and above what I pay for electricity + tax. Not only do I not "buy" fees from Georgia Power, it doesn't seem to me the state would be charging them a sales tax on their own fees, e

I'm pretty sure Facebook says they'll change the pages of deceased people to a memorial page which puts limitations on them that regular pages don't have. Someone can contact FB to request, if I'm not mistaken. Don't know about deleting. A friend of mine in Illinois passed away a couple years ago & I would have had no idea but for posts his niece made to his FB page that mentioned how much she missed him that included a vague reference to his passing. Others continued to post birthday wishes & everyday stuff for awhile (so I understand the sentiment of this thread) & then so

At least crazy people can be entertaining at times. Rude people are just rude.

Everybody gives whomever they happen to agree with a pass for things they hold against those with whom they disagree. It's human nature. Does anybody really believe it's helpful to politicize everything? Personally, I think that's what's dragging the country, society and increasingly, the rest of the world down more than anything else. When we can't even talk to one another about our problems, we certainly can't work together to solve them in a way that works for the greatest number of people. Most people realize by the time they reach adulthood that life ain't fair, btw. (

How to handle a family member who is out of line
rednekkhikkchikk replied to Mama Carol's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Absolutely. To say she 'has a bee in her bonnet' is putting it mildly under the circumstances, and she likely has no recall of previously contacting you about the matter or how you responded, for that matter. One of my customers who was also a dear family friend repeatedly called me to request the exact same information quite frequently, and only after she had called multiple times in a matter of weeks did it become apparent to me that she had no recollection of her previous calls or anything we discussed. I would second the earlier suggestion that you simply save the text of your r -
Shooting at World Changers Church at least one dead

This is a puzzling comment. If not a man or woman, what then? -
Maybe I've read too many Stephen King books but that's a little creepy to me.

Sirens and helicopters around Nebo-Dallas/Nebo
rednekkhikkchikk replied to DonBrownJr's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Yeah just a couple/few weeks ago I stopped at the 4 way stop at School St & N Johnston St & was about to make a left onto Johnston when a GSP patrol car coming from the direction of Polk Avenue just rolled right on thru the intersection as if there were no stop sign there. Fortunately he was going so fast I didn't get a chance to pull into the intersection in front of him. No lights, no sirens. Just total disregard for the stop sign/intersection. & other traffic on the road. -
Don't take it all so seriously that you don't enjoy the day. If something doesn't go exactly as planned (and you can be sure something won't) just keep in mind that laughter never makes for bad times or memories. Congratulations!

Your refusal to use a proper pronoun when referring to this person says more about you than it does about her. Agenda, propaganda whatever - doesn't excuse your lack of common courtesy toward another human being.

I don't know Johnny personally, but I am so sorry to hear this and hope that they are able to relieve his pain and make him as comfortable as possible. (I realize now who his daughters are -I knew them when they were much younger when we attended church together...)

Did this once, will never EVER EVER do it again - karma be damned. Eviction notices mean nothing to someone who feels entitled to the use of your home and knows your schedule. I had to literally put padlocks on my doors to stop this person from taking advantage of the fact that I am away at work all day. More than anything else I hate what dealing with this person did to my ability to empathize with people who need and probably deserve help due to some unforeseen problem.

A good snake is one that gets rid of the bad snakes... and stays the heck away from me.

Actually, when you point out to some people that federal money given to the states isn't "free" money, their usual response is that it will be spent anyway, may as well get our share. Then on a subject such as this, they're all for cutting off funding for something that benefits others (especially if its something they otherwise couldn't afford) because it will save money. You can't have it both ways. It's hilarious that anyone really believes the money won't simply be spent elsewhere, same as always.

I was just thinking this morning that it seems 'our' Congress is now basically serves as the mouthpiece and distributor of taxpayer dollars for various corporate 'cartels' and entire industries in conjunction with its endless campaign fund-raising activities and does absolutely nothing for the people whose hard-earned money makes it all possible. Were it not for the lobbying efforts of the various beneficiaries of the money spent by welfare recipients, even they would be disregarded as unimportant to the process - as is the case with anything in this country desperately in need of reform

Job Cuts as Defense Budget Gets Ready to be Slashed

That's kind of like spending the rent & utility money on guns & ammo because there's criminals on the loose. No? -
I had several EEGs beginning when I was 5-6 years old; the worst aspect of it that I can recall was having to be as still as possible for the duration of the test, and then afterward how difficult it was to wash the adhesive out of my hair. It is nothing like a CT scan or MRI, both of which I had to have earlier this year for the first (and hopefully last) time. If it helps at all, EEGs are painless, non-invasive and virtually risk-free...

I hope you reported them the same as you would if you saw them climbing into the window of your daughters home while she was away on vacation...illegal is illegal just as welfare is welfare, since this argument is more about semantics than anything else. Based on your experience, how many people who do NOT commit fraud would you say qualify to receive a "refund" of more than they paid in federal income tax while also receiving public assistance in some other form throughout the year? which was the point of discussion to which you replied-.

1) The statements in bold suggest you know more than you actually do about the situations of total strangers- or in other words, you thought wrong. (Although you do correctly label the suggestion that businesses will pass along any cost reductions to customers as crazy. That's almost as crazy as the popular campaign rhetoric that further tax cuts will spur job creation after more than a decade of devastating job losses with tax rates at historical lows - please note: a decade is more than twice the number of years Obama the scapegoat has been in office) 2) If they'd stop forcing me to
