  1. Thanks. I'm looking into it more. My only experience in using one is playing with the demos at Target. The touch readers were sooooo much easier to use. I don't think there is a touch model out there that does not have internet capabilities, but I've only been looking a couple of days. I don't really want waste my money in buying one that is too difficult to navigate. Plus, downloading material on a computer to save on the device. If its like some cheap MP3 players, its just too much hassle. I still find it hard to believe that the Android OS has no safe browsing option and that the
  2. There is no question about whether or not I'm buying an E Reader if it has no parent controls. I want one with controls or I'm not buying it. Encouraging reading is a good thing, but it needs to be appropriate reading and with safe internet browsing. From my internet research so far, what I want does not exist. I have my own computer on safe browsing to filter out much of what's on the web, and unwanted things still pop up at times.
  3. I prefer good old fashioned books, which is why I'm having to ask. I don't have the latest gadgets, but kids like the technology. I'm just shocked that none seem to have any limits on internet browsing or parent controls.
  4. I'm looking to buy an E reader (possibly Nook Color) for a teenager. Many of these have these have browser capabilities but I don't see anything about parental controls. Is there one that is easy to use, prefer touch screen, that does not have wifi OR is there one with parent controls???? I've never used one, so I don't really know what I'm looking for.
  5. Dressing is made but not yet cooked. But...I had some left over that wouldn't fit in the pan so I cooked it in a muffin pan and my dressing is GOOOOD if I do say so myself
  6. Mine has been in the fridge since Saturday and is STILL FROZEN !!!!! Guess I'll be up early running water over it.
  7. We only have it once a year. It's usually ham and other stuff at Christmas.
  8. Am I misunderstanding??? Are you bragging about the fact that you took things from another person and broke in line??
  9. If that's what you were raised on, that works. We all like our traditions. My cousin married a guy who was raised in a family that did not cook at all. He will not eat anything homemade. He brings a can of soup to his in-laws and heats it up for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  10. My Dad is in his early 70s and said that when he was a kid, it was rare to see squirrels, rabbits, etc because of hunting. He also told me that there were no deer. They did not exist here, because of hunting. My grandfather and some other men brought some deer into Paulding and let them go in the Braswell Mountain area to get them started here again for hunting. My grandmother also told me how to cook a possum, just in case. That's a bit of knowledge I hope I never have to use.
  11. Paula Deen's recipe for dressing tastes identical to the one I grew up eating. Some people prefer to use biscuits instead of the white bread/crackers. Personally, I don't taste a difference, but I remember my grandmother using crackers sometimes. Just do a search and her recipe is easy to find. If you don't feel like making cornbread, Ingles in Dallas has it in the deli. DON"T buy it from the Ingles on Nebo because they have sweet cornbread and it won't be the same. (unless they changed the recipe)
  12. You should try nutella smores !!!!! Yumm you can also make paula deen's gooey butter cake (peanut butter version) with nutella, just don't use as much sugar with the nutella as it calls for with peanut butter Yumm Nutella!
  13. I don't know the details, but I did hear at church today that she is ok. She was "bumped" by a truck, but no major injuries.
  14. Oh my goodness! She was my home ec. teacher in 8th grade. I hope she's ok!
  15. When I watched a few times this summer, he seemed like he was slipping a little. Kelly was having to cover for him with the guests names and talking about current events. I know he's doing great for his age, but I don't know if he's still quick enough or current enough for that show's format. He needs more scripted or planned material.
  16. We've had some unusual holidays in past years due to unexpected circumstances and IHOP has worked for family gatherings with no prep work or clean up. Cracker Barrel is always good, too, but farther away on Thornton Road or Cartersville
  17. Actually, they are not native here and there is still a lot more open spaces left in their "native" habitat out west. There are two theories on THEIR encroachment on the southeast. #1 they were drawn east by carrion along the interstates and highways and were assisted in crossing the Mississippi by railroad and highway bridges. #2 With warmer winters their habitat moved farther north of the MS River and then they were gradually able to expand southward. Maybe its a little of both, but they are now here and they do not belong!!!!!
  18. They do provide transportation IF you qualify. You have to have very low income or they may be able to put in for transportation for a special one time circumstance. Call the desk that schedules your appointments and ask, but you probably won't get very far with the actual transportation office by phone. Anything at the VA is a lot of hassle and takes a long time. You have to be very persistent and patient.
  19. With the extra pressures, additional responsibilities, and HUGE class sizes, our stress load as teachers is greatly increased in the last couple of years. I appreciate the breaks. If they cut them out, I wish they would at least leave us a four day weekend during the break times. Until the last couple of years, I wanted a longer summer and less breaks.
  20. I TOTAllY don't agree with whole occupy thing, but I hate that happened to them.
  21. My dermatologist said the skin sort of heals around the blackhead so even when there is no blackhead the hole is still there, then eventually gets clogged again. Its just an enlarged pore. Mine are in the U shaped part, too. I guess it sort of works to hold stuff in and that's why it gets clogged. I went through a period of time with allergies and constant ear infections. They gave me some oily ear drops, and it would turn the spots into large pimples every time or even boils. So infection on the outside of the ear or the inside Not fun. No WORMS or SPIDERS or creepy crawlies, bu
  22. I got one and it made my hair MORE frizzy and it damaged my hair. Instead of my hair curling, it just frizzed. It was straighter, but not straight. I still had to use a flat iron, but it did take less time to straighten, which didn't help because my whole purpose was to stop damaging my hair with a flat iron.
  23. Gross, I know but you asked. I get them, and I know its common to get black heads right inside the ear. I always have them and sometimes they turn into small pimples but never go completely away. I think the pore gets clogged for a while, then just stays open whether its actually clogged or not. They also can turn large, painful pimples, much worse than one on your face. Ick.
