  1. I would consider losing a non-essential body part to keep from having to deal with 150 middle schoolers the day before Spring Break.
  2. I haven't heard of any planned this year around Paulding.
  3. Wow! How do you get an invitation to one of your cookouts????
  4. I was on the cheap cable, too. You HAVE to have their box in order for it to work now. I chose just to cut it off!
  5. I agree there SHOULD be Social Studies in elementary school. Social Studies is at the bottom of the list of importance and in some situations, it is not taught at all on its own. It is ONLY taught through Reading or other lessons. If there is a time set aside just for Social Studies, it is not much. Most likely, this math question was included to support what was being taught that day in all of the subject areas. It wasn't just a random question standing on its own.
  6. I do understand what you're saying. The reality is that there is no time or very limited time allotted for Social Studies in elementary school, and the subject matter is supposed to be taught "across the curriculum." So how should elementary schools teach about sensitive issues? I think the shock of it comes when those short statements are put into word problems on a math sheet and are taken out of the context of the entirety of what is being taught. They may be reading about it in Reading or Language Arts and there is more sensitive discussion going on, but someone outside of the clas
  7. Cheap housing with few limits and restrictions for over 20 years helped that "growth" process along. We would be in a much better place right now if there had been better planning, limits to the growth, and not quite so cheap and shoddy housing being built. I do hope you are right about that airport. I wish I had as the same positive feelings about it, so it just makes me want to ask...you wouldn't happen to own a small plane, would you?
  8. Social Studies in elementary school is very neglected. Many times it is not taught in isolation and there is little or no time devoted just to that subject. The SS concepts are taught through reading, math, lang arts, etc The teams of teachers get together to design their lessons to support the standard that the students are to learn. Teaching that slavery happened or that there was something called the Three Fifths Compromise is not wrong, it is part of history. It would be wrong to NOT teach about it. Teachers combine different subject areas frequently to support other subjects. For
  9. GA has a waiver. The rules have changed so that one or two sub-groups should not sink the ship. Honestly, I don't know all of the details, to know if its a better system or just a different system. Its not based on one or two things like 1 test and attendance. There is a whole list of things that can earn points for a school.
  10. They are starting that new magnet program at PCHS which will attract many of the top students from around the county. If that program gets counted in PCHS's general group, then they just fixed their problem.
  11. I can't say I blame him for his anger against the county.

I think it is sad that this has happened and I'm not happy about it. I just don't see how anyone can be shocked that students are expelled for vandalizing the school. This wasn't a small infraction.
  13. There's a help line listed on the Westridge Church website
  14. Not everyone on the Cherokee rolls has actual Cherokee heritage. I may not be using the correct wording, but when they were trying to become a reservation, they let almost anyone on the rolls. There was no payday from a casino and there was strength in numbers. I want a cool Cherokee last name like Standingdeer. I love history and genealogy, but I don't think any of us can claim to be pure anything. Almost anywhere in the world, there was a mixing of cultures/races that produced another culture/race. I guess Adam and Eve were the original race, but I'm not sure exactly what that
  15. I just meant, good kid or not, at this point it appears that what the kids actually DID was a felony. It doesn't matter whether they thought through the consequences or not, or what their intentions were, it is the action that will be judged.
  16. The prices of the produce were the best part.

Honestly, I don't know who should get what punishment based on who did what and where. I am glad, I am not the one to act as judge and jury. I just know that they ALL need harsh enough punishment so 1. they realize how one stupid decision can totally mess up your life and 2. future senior classes won't dare even draw a smiley face with chalk within a mile of school property. I don't want to see kids lives ruined, but I also don't want to see a pattern set where kids can do this and get off with a slap on the wrist.
  18. I don't recommend the frozen rising crust pepperoni pizza they carry. Its worse than school pizza. It tastes like 3 dollar pizza.
  19. Apparently destruction of govt property IS a felony. He is felon material, because he made the stupid decision to do it. It is very sad that he decided to do it.
  20. I was less than impressed with the ones that are behind the hospital in Dallas. The person on the phone seemed very knowledgeable and prepared on the phone, but what she said and what actually happened when I got there did not match up.

Dont forget the one who was luring women to his house under false pretenses (dog on Craig's list) and threatening them with a weapon

Please reconsider and pray about this attitude. You are an adult and a parent setting an example. It just makes me sad.
