  1. Actually, I think a law is necessary over the use of cell phones and texting. The number of drivers that use their cell phones while driving is far greater than the number of people applying makeup, etc. I can't tell you how many times a week I nearly get side-swiped, cut off, or nearly rear ended by drivers who have a cell phone glued to their ear or have it in front of them trying to type. My thought is that if you need to have a conversation that important while you are in your car, pull over and give the call the attention it deserves or get a hands-free device. If you are just chattin
  2. I say the Army is correct in its action. The criminal charges stem from her intentionally not reporting for duty and missing her deployment flight. There are procedures in place for soldiers in the event of family emergencies (this would have qualified) and she should have followed those procedures.
  3. Ham and mozzerella should be good, but when I do stuffed chicken breasts, I usually stuff the chicken breasts with an herb stuffing and mushrooms and then wrap in bacon and bake. Once the chicken is done, make a gravy with some of the drippings in the pan.
  4. If you're ever to the point that you need a blood transfusion, I'm not sure that you're going to be worrying about contracting HIV.
  5. Hey, I already work in Atlanta so maybe I should run? I'm used to the commute and I can certainly do a much better job than some of the people who are already in those slots. What do you think my chances are?
  6. My suggestion is to visit, visit, and then visit again and ask a bunch of questions, especially about what your expectations for your child are. Ask the centers for references - especially from current parents in the program where your child would be placed. I'm fortunate since my employer offers a private daycare/preschool close to my office in Atlanta - I have yet to find a comparable full-time program in Paulding that compares. Brighton Preschool and my church both have great programs, but they are not full-time programs and neither offer "after school" care. Good luck with yo
  7. Cobb has wi-fi. I used it when the princess was born almost 3 years ago.
  8. The princess's pediatrician had them when she had RSV two years ago. They gave it to us and the company that owned the machine filed the insurance - I simply signed a form in the dr.'s office. I do remember that they told us that the cost of the machine was $400 if insurance didn't pay, but thankfully it was covered.
  9. In addition to the mani/pedi, don't forget the facials!! The princess went to a "spa" party for one of our friends (even though she is only 2) and all of the kids (most were older than 5) loved having a facial. And, the ladies that came in for the facials simply used cold cream to give the girls facials. Also, there were pink spa robes (kids sizes) for all of the girls to wear, along with head bands to pull back their hair and those cheapie flip flops you get at the nail salons. For the goodie bags, you could give each child their own little spa kits with nail polish, lip balm, and
  10. Since you will be 3 different doctors - talk to each other them about their recommendations. There are pros and cons for chemo and radiation, but since your doctors are the ones looking at you (and have your medical history), go prepared to listen to their advice -- what worked for one person, may not work for you.... And, get a second opinion (especially if you can get a referral to one of the Emory cancer specialists, they have the best reputation for cancer treatment in the Atlanta area). ETA: Whatever you choose, I wish you all the best and will keep you in my prayers.
  11. Publix deli - they have a great selection of deli platters, including chicken wings, chicken fingers, pinwheel sandwiches, veggie trays, etc. Great for snacking!
  12. Italian Sausage and Peppers w/Penne Pasta and salad.
  13. I agree - go see the guys at Sound Proof.
  14. Send a PM to Dr. Smileybugs - she's an awesome dentist with an office in Austell.
  15. My husband received the biggest blessing this week. He was at Wal-Mart buying groceries for the food ministry. When he does this, it's pretty obvious that he's doing it because there are multiple buggies with about 50 of each item on his list. THIS WEEK, the woman in the check out line in front of him asked him where the food was going and he told her that it was food he was purchasing for the food ministry at our church. They talked about it for a few minutes, then she paid for her things and turned around and handed him a big donation to help cover the cost of the food. My husband was f
  16. Actually, you left out one more situation - the possibility that the Police Chief was offered a job with another police force and asked the Lt. to join him. I don't know what happened, but I feel pretty confident that once the facts are out there, Pubby will enlighten us.
  17. Sending prayers your way. On the positive side, I had this done about 4 years ago and it wasn't that bad. I was in a lot of pain immediately after surgery, but went home about mid-afternoon and felt well enough to eat dinner that night. Had the surgery on a Friday, went back to work on Tuesday.

  19. Maybe they have to process them differently. It's been awhile since I've sent a package to an APO address, but the last time I did, I had to itemize what was in the box.
  20. Actually, if you have dry spices, pick the flavors you like (like Rosemary, Garlic and Oregano). Rub the chicken with a little olive oil and then rub on the seasonings. Bake in the over, BUT DON'T POKE HOLES IN IT. To me, that causes it to dry out.
  21. I'm a Christian - not a Bible-thumper, but a Bible reader though. It doesn't offend me. I say and write "Merry Christmas" and not "Happy Holidays" or "Merry XMas." To me, the more important way to honor Christ is to celebrate the season and share the joy of his birth. I'm not going to diminish that by getting all bent out of shape of how someone else chooses to acknowlege Christmas. Just my two cents...

    Parents

Both of my parents are deceased - my mom died in August 2007, my dad died just over a year later in September 2008.
  23. Fortified Hills Baptist Church is having a Christmas Eve service at 6:00 p.m. Please join us if you can.
  24. "One day," I need to get up in the attic and take down my Mickey Mouse collectibles. When I was in high school and college, I was an avid Mickey Mouse collector - even have an original Mickey Mouse Club lunch box (one of the metal ones) up there.
