Thank God I'm not that paranoid.

Warn your teens --- friend's kid lost license
Riograce replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I wonder if he was near Marietta HS where Dallas Hwy. becomes Whitlock Ave. ... I *think* there are places along there where there is only a turn lane and not an actual median. I agree with some of the others, though - there's more to this than was reported to Austin Plantation. If the attorney couldn't get the kid out of it, he probably deserved what happened to him. Edited to add: BTW, good kids and Eagle Scouts are as capable of lying as anyone else. -
To me, that phrase will always mean my husband's kidney/pancreas transplant - new hope and a new life. God bless organ donors!

Uh, IMO, Addison *is* a boy's name.

The Brown Thrasher. And we should NOT change the state bird.

If she won't self-motivate, you'll have to "motivate" her. Does she have a permit and *know* how to drive? If so, make her a road test appt. and TAKE HER for the test on the appointed day. Take the fiance if you can - maybe she would be embarrassed to deliberately fail if he was there. Once she has a license - if you're prepared to provide a car for a time - *insist* that she get a job of some kind. Until you get tough, she has no reason to get off her rump and do anything - who *wouldn't* want to lie around and be supported 24/7??? I'd love to be a lazy slug, but it's not an option - do

My three favorite boys' names are Alexander, Ross and Dean. If I had had a son, he was either going to be Alexander Hugh or Alexander [my maiden name], but he would have been Alex no matter what. I love that name!

I am so sorry for your loss.

I lived at home until I married. Once I was out of college and working full-time, I paid my parents "rent." I also paid all of my car expenses, including insurance. I considered it a sweet deal then, and I still do.

Can the doll be washed? If so, I'd just wash her and let her keep the same doll.

I went several times when they first opened, sampling different things each time. My favorites were the sweet potato pie and the thumbprint cookies. However, my work schedule has changed and I can't get there any more when they're open. I hope that someday their business will increase enough to justify a six-day week - when that happens, I'll be back!

Best wishes to you, Steve and Nemie - may fortune smile on you in England! Plymouth is one of the (many!) places my HH would like to visit when we go to England someday - he loves naval history. I hope you'll stay in touch through P.com and post LOTS of photos!

I've noticed - and I don't get it, either.

Are you testing your blood sugar regularly yet? As you say, pizza can send your blood sugar soaring, so monitor yourself closely when eating it. My husband is a diabetic, and we always order light sauce, which seems to help. IMO, Papa John's is de debil - made me violently sick TWO times, so I'll never eat it again. Give me Johnny's or Mellow Mushroom!

For the record, we have **NO** control over the size of the image on the license. The new license uses facial recognition software, which requires a close-up to work properly. The *camera* is programmed to focus on the face, and returns that image for matching and transfer to the record.
-
That's the idea. The new licenses - both temporary and permanent - have a considerable number of security features that make them virtually IMPOSSIBLE to alter or duplicate. Some of those features are fairly obvious, while others are not.

Note to LPPT - What about Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans? There may be a difference in magnitude, but there's your example of what would - and HAS - happened in this country in similar circumstances.

I'm with Friendly Geek: I'd watch Carson reruns until the end of time. If I never see Leno or O'Brien again, it wouldn't bother me a lick. I like Letterman most of the time, except when he's sucking up to Oprah. But I love, love, LOVE Craig Ferguson!

On the flip side, why spend the $$ on a smartphone when a "dumb" phone is all you need?
-
The Blackberry is going to require a data plan, so that wouldn't work for her. If you're not eligible for a free phone, look on eBay.

I remember the storm of '73 quite well - our power was out for several days, so we stayed with my great-grandmother in her log cabin during that time. I also remember SnowJam '82 - my mother, sister and I were stranded on what was then called Jones Shaw Road in Smyrna for a few hours. A neighbor with a 4-wheel drive truck finally rescued us that night.

RAMMER JAMMER YELLOWHAMMER, GIVE 'EM HELL, ALABAMA!

Yup - funny how that is.

Post photos of your kits so we can see their builds, features, etc. Without knowing pedigrees, however, it would be well nigh impossible to determine what "breed" your cats are. Several of our cats - and our dog - have the *look* of a certain breed, but nothing we can prove. Your cats are probably just plain old "alley cats," but that doesn't mean they aren't beautiful or special, and probably *will* mean they'll be healthier and longer-lived.

Tortoiseshell is a pattern of color, not a breed. My Persian princess, Demelza, is a tortoiseshell girl - and a particularly lovely one, IMO. Good luck with your kitties!
