  1. Tattooing one's own children, while , I wouldn't see as a reason for jail time or removal of custody, provided both parents are in agreement and the children old enough to express a wish for it. However, tattooing another person's child - and in this case, the biological mother wasn't consulted - should be strictly verboten and suitable penalties imposed.
  2. You were nicer about it than I would have been. Your sister is apparently buying your niece a boyfriend/fiance, either because she always wanted a son, or because she's afraid her daughter would never have a boyfriend otherwise, or because she wants a grandchild and looks on this relationship as the quickest way to get one. I feel for you, because it's tough to see a family member make so many bad decisions - especially those that affect others - but you're better off staying out of their lives for a while. Being part of that kind of crazy isn't healthy, even when you're just a bystander
  3. Perhaps the at-fault driver lied to his/her insurance co. about the circumstances of the accident. I was involved in a hit-and-run accident a few years ago (got his tag number, though - ha!), and when he was caught a few hours later, the investigator gave me his insurance info. When I talked to that company the next day - having given the guy 24 hrs. to do the right thing and report it himself - the agent claimed he was giving a different account of what had happened. I then told her that he had been charged with hit-and-run - a mandatory suspension in Georgia if convicted - and that I woul
  4. Sorry, I don't get your comment. I've been involved in numerous accidents - none of which were my fault, BTW - and my insurance company has NEVER had to become involved in any way. I *did* call my company (Amica) once when another company (State Farm) was trying to screw me over; I got excellent advice and State Farm ended up doing what they should have done from the get go.
  5. Wait a minute: isn't HER insurance company covering this???
  6. My last two vehicles have come from CarMax, and I have NO complaints. I would encourage you to spend a little money and buy an online membership to 'Consumer Reports.' See what they have to say about the best used cars for the money you're intending to spend. I have a 2002 Ford Explorer SporTrac and have been very pleased.
  7. After further consideration, here's another possibility: Meyer and UF discovered that his resignation was about to be leaked, and they decided to make the official announcement now, defuse any speculation and get all the hullabaloo out of the way before the Sugar Bowl. In any case, ADs and college presidents with effective, winning coaches should clutch them closer to their bosoms, because Florida is going shopping. (Wonder if the devil's spawn at South Carolina would want to go back to the Gator Nation?) I wonder if they'd have him?
  8. That's the aspect of the announcement that startles me the most - what was so urgent that it couldn't wait six more days?
  9. I'm with Solo and MotorCity. I don't understand the popularity of a GAME - involving real people! - that glorifies everything despicable about human nature.
  10. Here's the link to one of Soap Mom's lip balms: http://www.ingrannysfootsteps.com/store/WsDefault.asp?One=49
  11. Unless you know their tastes in food and entertainment, I'd stay away from specialized gift cards. When did cash become so unfashionable?
  12. I'm always embarrassed for a business when I see misspelled or poorly worded signage or literature. And I have to admit that I have cringed at some of the errors I've seen in P.com banner ads.
  13. I met my HH on 29 February 1988. We were introduced by his co-worker, who had been a college friend of mine. The three of us met up at Gwinnett Mall and had lunch at Ruby Tuesday's. We hit it off and started dating. Went on a brief hiatus later that year, but were back together by Christmas. He proposed several times before I finally said 'yes' in November of 1991, and we were married 29 February 1992. Four years to the DAY - I think it was meant to be.
  14. I see this all the time as well, and wonder what happened to the simple lesson of 'stop, look and listen.'
  15. Actually, I'd feel a lot safer if people could carry their weapons in the open. Concealed carry is kinda goofy anyway, since most people carry their pistols in such a way as to make it difficult to get to it in a crisis situation.
  16. If anyone here knows LabMom IRL, would you let her know I've sent her a PM? Thanks!
  17. Oh, MizCue, I'm so sorry. Please take comfort in knowing that Tootsie knew she was very loved, which is the best gift we can give our dear pet-children. Please drop me a line sometimes - I miss you!
  18. Or you could just make him wait a year - 17-year-olds aren't required to have driver's ed.
  19. I'm so sorry, TBAR ... may God give you strength and comfort and peace.
