  1. The *traditional* locations for prom pics are the girl's living room and in the driveway beside the boy's car. I'm just old-fashioned that way.
  2. I figured it was going to be something like this: Emergency Road Service is designed to assist you in an emergency when the vehicle you are either driving or riding in becomes disabled. Your membership coverage applies to those emergency and towing services listed here. You must have your valid membership card and a picture ID available to present to the driver when he arrives. You have to be with the vehicle at the time of service. ( http://www.aaasouth.com/Automotive/auto_ers.aspx?nvbar=Automotive:RoadsideAssistance ) The towing service is designed to rescue you if you
  3. I won't if they won't. Many is the time I've looked in my rear-view mirror and seen only the *head* of a motorcyclist because he/she was so close to MY rear bumper that I couldn't see the bike. My point? EVERYONE should look out for EVERYONE ELSE - defensive driving should be universal.
  4. As I wrote, one may drive in the U.S. provided he/she doesn't meet the RESIDENCY requirements for that state. For example, in Georgia, a foreign tourist may drive on his/her valid foreign license for up to one year. OTOH, if someone enters the U.S. to work here, he/she is considered a resident of Georgia and is required to obtain a GA license within 30 days. It's possible the person on the show should have gotten a license in PA due to his immigration status and had failed to do so - since he apparently owned a car, I think that's quite likely.
  5. I've been with AAA since 1987, have NO complaints and MANY reasons to praise their services. I'd be curious to know the nature of your problem, since the experiences of the other AAA members who posted were so positive.
  6. Actually, by international treaty, foreign visitors possessing a valid license (and in some cases, an international driver's license issued in their country) may drive anywhere in the U.S. for up to one year from their date of entry, provided they do not meet residency requirements. That includes Pennsylvania, BTW: Is an international Driver’s License valid in Pennsylvania? Pennsylvania honors a valid foreign driver’s license with an international driving permit for a period of up to one year. If the foreign license and/or international permit expires before one year, the individua
  7. All you peeps should be waaaay more concerned over how EASY it is to get a permit/license in the first place, rather than what language(s) we use for the test. Your Friendly Neighborhood License Examiner
  8. As long as it's not Crystal, I really don't care.
  9. Hmm, could be ... that jackass CEO of Massey Energy undoubtedly sees himself as an 'amazingly powerful executive,' whereas *I* think of him as the latter term.
  10. Yup. By the by ... I wonder how those who oppose foreign language tests feel about the illiterate, who have to have the test *read* to them ....
  11. I think the primary issue for the OP is that the deceased was carried out of the house in this fashion. If it wasn't possible for a gurney/stretcher to be taken all the way to where the body lay, those who were removing him/her could have asked the family to move to another area of the house, then carried the body to the gurney. To just lug someone out of the house in the way described is unprofessional and disrespectful, whether anyone was there to see it or not.
  12. FWIW, only the *laws* portion of the exam is offered in other languages. The signs portion of the test is only available in English. Your Friendly Neighborhood License Examiner
  13. If that's not an entitlement attitude, I don't know what is. Why in Heaven's name should SOMEONE ELSE pay for *YOU* to go to school??? Hope and Pell money doesn't grow on trees - it comes from someone's income, one way or another.
  14. Those who are truly "motivated" will find a way to continue their educations. They may choose to work and *earn* the money they need to pay for school. When did paying as you go, as opposed to having the money handed to you or getting a loan, become such a radical notion? Higher education, like health care, is NOT an entitlement.
  15. Are these petit fours, as in about 1 1/2 inches square, or are they cake squares (about 3 inches square)?
  16. First of all, congratulations on getting an hour for lunch - I get 30 minutes and no breaks. Secondly, are you usually paid for your lunch time?
  17. No wonder Simon is leaving - the mediocrity this year is overwhelming. If it weren't for Crystal, there would be NO REASON to watch.
  18. How very cool! I've been a registered marrow donor for many years, but have never been called. I guess I have boring bone marrow.
  19. Provided you don't hit bedrock, that's actually a pretty efficient form of burial.
  20. Why didn't y'all have him cremated? It's considerably less expensive ....
  21. When 'different' becomes common, as seems to be the case these days, it might be time to consider 'common' names.
  22. IMO, you should have gotten off the phone after the first call didn't work and began writing letters. A paper trail would have been a lot more useful to you if you decide to retain an attorney.
  23. The story just ran - apparently there's a guy in a red pick-up who has been following school buses in that area.
