My wife and I watched Marley and Me and we both teared up. Our lovable big dog was wondering why mom and dad was hugging him so much and loving on him during and after the movie. Great movie.

Should TV camara's be banned from court rooms?
HiPlainsDrifter replied to bvrat5199's topic in RECENT TOPICS
To defend cameras in the courtroom with the idea that it creates a transparency is total bull s---. It's a tool used by the media, who have turned certain cases into nothing more than the latest reality show. Of course they have an eager audience who will tune in at the drop of a dime, so wh--- out the justice system all you want. -
I'd like to know if any of you watch a cable news channel that actually shows......NEWS! Yesterday my wife gets a call from family in Grand Rapids, MI that there's a man on a shooting rampage who has killed several people and has hostages. Normally this would be on a cable news channel, nope. I flipped through all the major ones and every damn one of them were talking about Casey Anthony, the new OJ Simpson. I mean if Americans are that enthralled with this, which obviously they are, then that's fine, but some of us would like to know what else is happening in the world. I seldom watch news on

Is it true what they say about minikirts after 35?

I was looking for the NATO helicopter in the background dropping rice and other forms of aid. I've seen people rescued from the wilderness after a month that looked heavier than her. -
They woke me up for sure. First I was startled, because I immediately thought they were military and knew they were flying very low for this area. Being around Smryna or Marietta it wouldn't be a big deal, but to have them come over the house in Dallas that low, made me wake up quick. Glad to see it's a July 4th event and proud actually.

I think it's crazy that so many people every year go across the state line and buy fire works and shoot them off continuously for the first week of July. It is funny that something that is illegal is done so openly. I mean how more open can you be that your crime being displayed 60-100ft in the air in 6 different patriotic colors! We as Georgians are not safe enough to handle fireworks and therefore they have been banned from us. It has been decided that over the years we could , be given sparklers again, but not roman candles or fire crackers. My dog has been going crazy for the last two days

More locally owned restaurants, where people greet you with an original "How are you?", not the corporate mandated crap from the franchises. I enjoy the privately owned selections we have now, and we need more. Give me a home grown food joint any day. I would love to see an original sea food market or restaurant open as well, more of them actually. Sorry folks, but this Savannah born boy gets PO'd going to the local grocers trying to buy decent seafood to cook for his lovely wife and family on a Saturday night. The selection is terrible, and I hear people say it's sooooo good. More homegrown

Wife and I spent bonding time away in the north GA mountains last weekend with no electronics and just the wild, so this weekend will be hard to compete. I will however try to relax and catch up on some reading and maybe cook a nice meal tomorrow for her and the boys.

I'm know I'm going to start a firestorm here, but this whole date to celebrate is starting to burn me up. It's getting to the point where every 4th of July, THE DATE OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, I'm am left to celebrate own our own. The local governments, no matter what day of the week the date falls on, has decided that they will celebrate the holiday on the day they choose. Sorry it's just not the same seeing fireworks on the 9th, 10th, 2nd or whatever! I want to celebrate on the day that our forefathers decided to start this country. It's a strong statement for a country, when it's o

I know some think that when confronted by a carjacker its as easy as handing over the car as if it's the carjackers birthday. Sadly it doesn't always work like that and there are far too many cases where the carjacker shoots and even kills the victim to take the car. So to not think it's not "necessary" to shoot a carjacker can certainly be argued at times. I doubt whipping out a guitar and singing kumbaya will turn their heart and soul. Yes it's unfortunate that some individuals have sunk that low in life that they feel they have to take a life and steal the person's possessions. If ever they

My son had one small window of opportunity to come home on leave and he kept it a secret from my wife and I. He showed up at our door the day before my birthday and rang the doorbell while I was watching a Braves game. He wanted to be home for my birthday and celebrate with me. Words can't describe how proud I am of him and how much I love him. We spent as much quality time together as possible, laughing, eating good food ( the home made banana pudding he requested and bbq ribs) and just talking. We took in a Braves game and both wore our jerseys and gave high fives when they scored a run or go

My wife and I have had our share of experiences as well. I have limited mechanical experience, and it's very limited. But when something goes wrong I always call my father who is an expert who gives me a diagnosis over the phone and expected parts costs. He was a diesel mechanic at one time, built hundreds of engines, and worked as a small engine mechanic as well. Unfortunately he lives too far away to assist any more than that, but at least I can be armed with some knowledge when walking into a shop. I've never been over thrilled with any shop since moving to the Atlanta area. I've only been -
Any update on your family member? I hope for the best.

They are a group of miserable human beings that will die without ever experiencing the happiness that was at their finger tips. What a wasteful life to spend it focusing on hate. I totally agree with you, the only decent thing to come of their existence is the Patriot Guard.

Man, and I thought the heavy set guy with side burns wearing girls skinny jeans with his butt crack showing and a pink stretchy top was weird yesterday at the WM on the corner of Floyd and E/W on my way home. I stopped in because it was convenient for the commute, although I usually go to the Dallas WM. Man, I thought the Hiram WM was strange. I felt like paying the cashier an admission charge. Good thing you had someone walk you to the car, sounds like things could have gone south quick. Better not to take chances. -
That's just it, body guards are not LEOs. I never understand why the law sees thug body guards in the light that they do. If you and I are close friends and are at the airport and someone is standing close to my luggage and I instruct you to crack their skull, it's assault. If I'm a "somebody" and you are my "bodyguard" and I instruct you, it's different. It's not even like the guy was attacking her, she claimed he was standing too close! See what happens the next time you're at Hartsfield and someone stands close to you and you beat them down, you'll be calling your attorney to get your sente

I'm a Skype user and after opening up my laptop this morning I noticed a new desk top icon, Easy Bits Go Games. After looking at the properties I found that it was downloaded yesterday and looking further I found it was forcefully downloaded by Skype as an update. I opened my registry and there it was running as big as ever. Talk about furious, I immediately uninstalled the program, which disappeared too quickly which told me what I was dealing with. There are a few steps to go through to trash it, which can be found online if you have it as well. I also unchecked the automatic updates under t

Our son who is serving in the US Army is on leave and visiting for a very short time. We plan to spend quality time together this weekend as we have all week. Monday we're going to a Memorial Day service and then we're coming back to have a nice meal with the entire family and lots of friends. It's precious time and we want to make the best of it.

I've resisted having a FB account for many reasons, privacy, time, being found by people I dislike etc. One of the biggest reasons has been I know as soon as I sign up I have some immediate family members that will bug the crap out of me. I hear the drama they post and how they embarrass other people, and I just don't need the same. They've begged me for years to get an account, and I refuse. I just don't need crap like that being visible to other people and I don't need the issues. I can't not add them, because they are so close in relationship.

What a crock of S---. This ass clown drives this much over the speed limit and gets to "promise" to appear in court? When he goes to court will he get to hand the judge an "IOU" written on a sticky note as well? How blatant can local law enforcement be of preferential treatment? Just show your license, no your special "I'm Somebody" card and you get to drive home and kick back in your easy chair minutes after driving 83 miles over the speed limit, endangering lives and being asked, " Now Kyle you promise you'll be in court don't you you?" Let you or me drive like that down that same road and w -

Being married to a Michigander and die hard Wings fan I have watched a few games in my time and trust me they are two different worlds. I've been to a Thrasher game when the attendance was enormous, unfortunately it was due to the visiting team and the sea of jerseys was not blue. I never hated the Thrashers, I'm a die hard Falcons and Braves fan myself, but the Thrashers never could bring me on board. I wanted to see them succeed, for the sake of the city and the die hard fans they have. From the very beginning I just never saw management as a group that wanted to win, and that my friend is a -

If anyone has some suggestions for physicians that help with knee problems I would be grateful. I started having knee problems two months ago out of no where, swelling, extreme pain. I went to the doc and first diagnosis was possible gout. Took meds for that diagnosis and nothing changed and was told wrong diagnosis, so I was sent to an orthopedic specialist, who then said I had calcium deposits and took fluid off my knee. On the second visit he said he didn't know what was wrong and said when it swells up again, come in and they'll do more testing. I never had an MRI just an X-Ray. My knee is
