Target defends Black Friday hours amid protest

There was a time when businesses were closed on Thanksgiving. Over the decades they gradually opened so people could buy their big tvs earlier. We just couldn't wait until Friday morning, we couldn't share time with family, we had to go out and spend spend spend. Yes people do know what they are getting themselves into when they take a retail job. Doesn't mean people don't want to be with their loved ones on Thanksgiving. Yeah they can quit, those in retail, restaurant businesses and the like, that's a great attitude. Funny how Thanksgiving has such strong Christian values, but when someone wa -
Support your local businesses! Please;o)

Locally owned businesses are much more in tune with their customers I would have to say. Especially when the owners kids attend the same schools as our kids, the owners live in our neighborhoods and so many other similarities. How in tune can you be with your customer base if the owners are in a high rise 5,000 miles away, or even 15,000? My experiences have proven to me that local business owners give better customer service. -
One would think that if an occupant in the house was shot and killed by police that LE and the media would want to highlight any drugs that may have been found. But we are left with just an occupying a dive charge, and a dead man due to a threatening move. If drugs had been found it sure would help the case.

Don't Drive in Hiram Friday Night
HiPlainsDrifter replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Never understood why there has to be reasonable suspicion to pull over a car and ask questions (detain), driving erratically etc. Yet road blocks seem to circumvent that premise by simply "blocking" the road and not letting you through until you show your papers. There will always be two sides to Americans wanting safety, whether it's airline safety, safety from drug dealers, terrorists etc. There are those who know because they are not committing a crime and have certain rights given to them by our constitution that they do not agree with sacrificing one word in that document. Even if it mean -
I found this whole discussion ironic because after I posted I ventured into another county. I was driving with one of their LE cars behind behind me, pouring rain and their headlights were NOT on, hmmm safety safety safety safety, remember seat belts etc. Then he crosses the GOREafter I enter when it ends. All the while I see no blue lights. But wait, I'm assuming here. He could have been on an emergency call, or been under cover, or been pursuing someone, EVEN though he pulled into a McDonalds and parked, walked in and ordered! The law is the law, I will follow it.

I saw them lining up yesterday and knew exactly what it was for. I notice they hit that intersection from time to time when I'm coming home from work, always at rush hour when cars are backing up. There were 5 cars there yesterday. My wife thought they were looking for a fugitive with that many cars, and I told her they were catching people crossing the gore, she didn't believe me at first. It is what it is and the law is the law. I've sat through 3 or 4 lights and looked at 100yds of asphalt that could be made into extra turning lane to ease up traffic, but I wouldn't dare ride across it beca

I had to missed it Sunday night and watched it last night On Demand. As I've said on here before, I hate Andrea! When Dale asked her what's with the Annie Oakley routine and she answered all smart mouthed, I knew something was up. Thing is he is so peaceful with her. When she sat down and said she was sorry , hats off to him when he consoled her. After dealing with her stupid A for weeks, I would have said you stupid B you could have killed someone! Was cool to see Darryl go all Rambo! I've had a feeling that something was not right about the farmhouse and when Maggie read the note from Glenn

Paterno did what he was obligated to do under the law and that's all that matters. Hmmm Yep over years and years of hearing of little boys being raped over and over , hey he did all he was obligated to do and that's all that matters people! Get over it. He told who he needed to tell, it fell on deaf ears, so be it. That's all the law requires. Yeah well I will go back to the personal scenario I've mentioned before. I bet that if any of you were being attacked or your kids, and someone told of the matter to a set of deaf ears, you would hope they would continue until it got to a set that would

I know all about the extra time allowed for breaks. When i started with my company many moons ago I worked in a warehouse environment. My supervisor and one co worker were smokers and would stop and walk outside to smoke whenever they felt the urge. If you figure these up for time it can add up to a good 15 minutes a day in addition to normal breaks. My co workers and I would get pissed to stand there and work only to see people walk out only because they have a habit? It finally boiled over when my co worker rolled up pieces of paper for he and I one day and we walked outside with them and ac

Now the argument is what is a riot? Give me a F break. College football amazes me that coaches like Joe are made into messiahs and anyone that threatens their tenure will suffer, even if said messiah has turned his back on child rape. Anyone can say rumor and supposedly all they want, use some GD common sense. If this wasn't college football and this wasn't the great and almighty joe paterno, just some joe schmo on the street. He was told that one of his fellow employees raped your child or wife and then hid it for the sake of his employer's reputation. You would still say he was just a scape g

There are many involved in the guilty party, a few who are have not been brought to light. The perp has not been given the full attention as the evil person that his is within the scheme of things. However, Joe the almighty did see and hear what transpired over 15 years! This is a guy that was repeatedly seen in certain situations and still was allowed into the team areas, and even to participate with team recruiting, charity and other events with Joe's approval. I'm sorry , but the perp is the evil one, but as far as Joe, just because he is a winning coach does not give him a pass here. These

What was the result of Sunday alcohol sales?
HiPlainsDrifter replied to MissSophie's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'm lovin it. The people have spoken and it looks as though they have wanted it for quite some time. This is exactly what some political groups and organized religious mobsters feared, the people speaking their minds and choosing their future. I guess if we are to head ole Bill Heath's warning, let the gay marriages and domestic abuse begin! I think I will purposely go out and buy my bottle of JD whiskey on Sunday just for the sake of purchasing it on that day. Man I love our freedom in America! -
What was your favorite thing about the 1990's?
HiPlainsDrifter replied to pauldingretroteen's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The rise of some of my favorite bands, which I still follow today, Alice In Chains, Sound Garden, Pearl Jam, Kyuss, Tool,Clutch Nine Inch Nails and many more. The idea that I could go to Lollapalooza and see 3 or 4 of them perform is crazy by today's standards. I still pick up new music as favorites, but it tapered off dramatically after the 90's. The shows were awesome, In Living Color,Married With Children, Home Improvement,X Files,Roseanne,Wonder Years, couldn't get away from watching Power Rangers with my boys, or Blues Clues. Even one my all time fav HBO series started in 1999, The Sopra -
I read this today, the Duggars are having #20. I don't follow the show. although I have watched a few minutes here and there out of pure fascination. I have thoughts on their family, which most of you do I am sure. It's usually either, they are free Americans and as long as they can support the kids let them have at it, to they are over populating and being selfish. I would say after the last child was born pre mature and put the mothers life in danger, they are just taking unnecessary chances. Talk about rolling dice. Of course they say that it is God's will that they are pregnant. Well then

I have no sympathy for the Eagles. Never liked the Eagles even as a young boy. The "experts" picked this as the dream team, which has turned into a bad dream and on it's way to a nightmare. I'm not a Vick fan either and I think we're seeing the Vick of old now, attitude included. You can pick a team to win based on their record all day. But Mike Smith said it in an interview a couple of weeks ago. You have to leave those stats off the field at the start of the game, this is the NFL, anything can happen. The next day I watched the winless Rams beat the Saints. They can point at yards per game,

I'm used to a hint of Christmas being shown the day after Halloween, but geez this year is over the top. My wife and I saw people putting up decorations in their yards on Halloween! I couldn't navigate through the drug store for all of the Christmas trees and decorations. I went shopping at WM last weekend, the FIRST weekend of November and there's Christmas music playing. I can only see it as pathetic desperation by retailers to entice buyers to spend for the season. I know the commercials, the papers, they are all there to put us in the mood to buy. I have nothing against Christmas, my famil

Wife and I went last week. We walked the blue and red trail. The scenery was beautiful, especially the red trail along Sweetwater Creek back to the Mill.

I spotted Otis real quick and recognized him from the series Deadwood. His character in that series shot his own brother so he could have ownership of their claim and sell it to Mr W who was working for Hearst.

I have to say the kids in our neighborhood have always been polite. We heard yes mam,no mam, yes sir, no sir last night and lots of thank you's, no matter what age. Our yard is clean and we had around 100-150 kids come by. The wife and I thoroughly enjoy sitting outside every year meeting the kids, commenting on the costumes and handing out candy.

Like I said earlier I hate Andrea. As far as Carol, I thought when she took the pick axe to her husband's corpse that we would see a new side to her. Maybe like Alice in Resident Evil or Sarah Conner in T1 and T2. Would have been cool to see her go from fragile abused mother/wife to zombie killing woman out to find her daughter and slaughtering everything in her path. Instead she is curled up in the rv relying on everyone else.

Seriously....what night is Trick or Treating this year?
HiPlainsDrifter replied to Gipper Girl Rocks's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Cobb county is in session tomorrow. This is why when the date lands on a Sunday I didn't buy and never will the whole explanation of holding it on Saturday because of school the next day. It was moved because of church, and we all knew. I hate when people find excuses and will not just come out and be honest. Say what you mean, mean what you say. The head of an HOA, elected officials, should just come out and say, we're religious and we don't think Halloween should be celebrated on Sunday. I would have a lot more respect than this B--- S--- , oh the kids have to go to school the next day. If t -
SPOILER ALERT He didn't trip him,he shot him in the leg. They were out of ammo and I think he saw it as if he didn't do it, they both die. Of course it's hard to say with Shane if he was actually looking far ahead to Carl living as well if he made it, or just looking out for himself. One of those moral decisions I suppose, but with Shane an easy one to make. Either way I wouldn't want him watching my back. Remember the scene last year with he and Rick in the woods when Dale walked up on him sighting in Rick with his weapon? One thing my wife and I wondered about though were the marks on Shane

Campbell worst school in the metro area? I did find it interesting though that according to the source provided above, it still ranked higher than any PC high school. I lived in Vinings, the real as everyone here is calling it, at one time when I first moved to Atlanta. I learned some things really quick about the entire area. Real Estate agents will stretch "Vinings" as far as they can to sell an apartment, house or a block of wood. There are a few apartments left there that need to be bulldozed. I always thought it was interesting that they were ok with tearing down buildings to build

I dropped the DVD service when they announced they were splitting their services. Just wasn't worth the trouble of two accounts and besides after reviewing my account the number of DVDs watched vs amount charged wasn't worth it. Then they come back and announce they are not splitting up after all, too late! Man someone over there has their head up their ---.
