SUNDAY LIQUOR SALES IS DEAD FOR THIS SESSION
HiPlainsDrifter replied to LUMPY's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It's plain and simple. Our legislatures have determined that the people of Georgia are not smart enough, maybe too stupid, to vote on whether or not to sell alcohol in their own county on Sunday. They think those decisions of whether or not to sell a legal product should be left up to them, and that Georgians should just quiet down and be good constituents. Besides, they have met with the good ole preachers and GCC and read the good book and decided that yaw don't need to be drinkin the debil's juices anyway! -
SUNDAY LIQUOR SALES IS DEAD FOR THIS SESSION
HiPlainsDrifter replied to LUMPY's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Not surprised at all. They people have no voice, it can never actually make it to a poll due to being silenced by politicians and ministers. Let the people vote, if it gets voted down then so be it. Now I'm gonna call up one of my baptist buddies and see if he's still bringing beer over for Sunday's race! -
I have to say my son's recruiter was pretty up front with him. Part of this probably had to do with the fact of my son having his facts in order after interviewing myself, his ROTC instructors, family members etc. My son's choice was never a surprise as it was made at a very very young age. He started his career path by signing up for High School ROTC and through relatives that served and myself, he knew exactly what he was doing when he took the oath. He and I had many talks before he joined and he held those discussions with combat veterans that we call family and friends as well. The path t

On the subject of underage drinking I have a view to express. I am against kids drinking , trust me. However, what type of society sends 18-20 year old men and women off to war and tells them to kill the enemy of the US, whether it's from the inside of a tank, firing a mortar round, artillery, or squeezing the trigger of their weapon, yet if they drink a sip from a 12oz beer, they can be placed in handcuffs. Don't mistake the comment, I'm not anti war or anti military by any means, I just don't understand the hypocrisy and the uptight view. My son is deployed , if he were to sit down and have

Only posting this again because the topic was split. If you welcome your government mandating laws based on religious doctrine move your butt to Iran and leave the free Americans to enjoy our own lives. Sorry I've overcome too much crap and been through a few years to have some minister tell me I can't buy a GD beer on Sunday to drink while I watch a Braves game. What legal products I purchase and consume are between the almighty and me, and are none of some hypocritical bible thumping ministers business.

I wouldn't even feed into this BS, unless you check your license and it says your under 21. The topic is about Sunday alcohol sales, we're adults so the discussion has not a D-- thing to do with the thread. Just another distraction to take away from the points made. What legal products

Picking and choosing one's government intervention, choices, choices. Don't stick your nose in my health care or tell me what I can pay an employee, the environment etc, but by God it's ok to send out the troops to tell me what days I can operate my business and what legal products I can sell. I thought that was one of the reasons we started this country was due to escaping a government that believed in mandating laws based on ONE religious doctrine upon people with different backgrounds. We as Georgians as intelligent people who can read a Bible or any other religious manual if we choose and

This is my point to so many people. I hear so many people these days complaining about the government wanting to control too much of our lives, but when it's their own little issue they make an exception. Frankly I think the "buy it the other six days of the week" argument is very weak. If it's to keep Sunday sacred then by God close ALL businesses by a government mandate if that's what you truly believe. Need gas? Fill your tank up on Saturday. Need your prescriptions? Fill them the other 6 days. Sunday is holy remember? Oh but it's different when it's other legal products, not the devil's ju

I've never understood the mentality myself. I can pretty much bet you that the same group of people that want the government to continue to ban the sale of a LEGAL product on a chosen day of the week, have the view that the government should keep their noses out of health care and pretty much as many other aspects as possible. Hypocritical if you ask me. I am against ANY religious group using the government to pass laws to enforce their religious doctrine. Don't give me the you can buy it on 6 days of the week why do you need Sunday BS either. I heard Sonny say that once and it made me think.

I'll give the fans credit, they are loyal. If you're going to the actual show, don't make the mistake that fans made outside at the first show. Fans Arrested

I have always felt that the absolute BEST moment of the entire week for anyone that works Mon-Fri is 5:01Pm on Friday. You have just finished the week and have the whole weekend ahead of you wooohoo. This week has been hell,I started with the flu but still worked all week. Not only did I work ,but my bosses were by my side and it was extremely busy. So when 5 hit today I felt sooo much relief! Hello weekend.

You might be Paulding County white trash if....
HiPlainsDrifter replied to Scott's topic in RECENT TOPICS
There have been occasions where I'm lounging around on a Saturday or Sunday in sleep pants or shorts and a t shirt. I have to dress very professionally 5 days a week for my job so when the weekend comes, it's time to be comfortable. When I get the notion to run to the convenient store near my house to grab some chips, where I know all of the employees, I'm not going to put on some khakis and a nice button up shirt for a 10 min trip just so someone is impressed. It's what I'm wearing , don't like it, turn your head. I might go one step further if heading to the grocery store or a box store, oth -
When I first saw this story on the news the reporter was standing by the roadside and I thought about my own situation. I had been told to be in a meeting that same day and that it was mandatory. I had been driving on some of the same roads, which at the time so many people thought were clear based on assumptions of driving on the interstates. When you hear of an accident like this, the first things that come to mind, are driving too fast and alcohol or drugs. When the things are ruled out, an accident is all that is left. This girl seems to have been not been driving too fast for conditions a

A Suggestion For Hosts, Hostesses and other Greeters
HiPlainsDrifter replied to eym_sirius's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The responses in this thread alone prove that. Some want their table cleared, some will get mad if you don't. Right down to the tone of voice and whether or not the server talks too much or the subject they speak about. I can even see some people saying the server would be rude if they didn't engage in conversation, it never ends. My oldest daughter worked as a server and told me many stories over the years. I dine out on a regular basis due to work and I see all levels of service. I realize the job is very demanding and dealing with the public can be one of the most trying aspects of any job. -
I saw this place on the news the other day and made a comment. The news story concerned a man who was brutally shot nearby and you could see this shop in the background.

I for one hate malls and luckily my wife hates them too, for her safety. I only visit one when there is a specialty store I cannot find in a shopping plaza somewhere. Here in Atlanta there are some that are safer than others, that cannot be denied. I will say they seem to attract criminal opportunist. Someone mentioned Cumberland mall earlier and I can attest to their experiences. I have never felt safe in their parking lots and even inside the mall for that matter. I have never been to Arbor Place Mall and probably never will go. It is ironic that just a week ago my wife spotted that mall on

Good for him, tell him to help raise that decibel level when the GB offense is on the field so they can't hear themselves think. Congrats! Go Falcons!

Very cool! Know the guys are rested up and ready to get down to business. Man am I excited and proud of our team.

Thanks for all of the recommendations. I will do some research to see if the Drs listed are on my insurance company's list of providers. I always think word of mouth is the best advertising one can have, and the recommendations usually prove to be pretty good on this site. Thanks again.

I lost my glasses recently and I really could use a new pair for reading. I'm looking for a good Dr to visit for yearly eye exams and new pair of glasses. I'm not too keen on the big box places, but I'm open to anyone if you've had a good experience.

I agree with the concept of being self reliant 100%. Yes it's the DOT's responsibility to clear the roads, but there are extremes in certain situations and myself, I would rather not sit in waiting with my family in danger hoping that the government comes through. It's law enforcement's responsibility to help protect us as well, but we would all be fools if we didn't take certain measures to secure our belongings and protect our families. There are times, and some will be so much worse than others, where government services just cannot get to people in a time of disaster, due to environment, o

I will definitely be watching my Falcons tomorrow night! I'm sure the neighbors will hear some more screaming and yelling as they always do when the Falcons play. Trying to decide what to have to eat, right now it's a toss up between homemade nachos and buffalo wings. Again most of the media is not picking the Falcons to win as usual. They just have no faith in this team, but they can do what they've been doing for weeks now, adjusting their playoff picks after their favs go home packing. Case in point, all I've heard about was the Eagles and Saints the last few weeks being the surprise N

I usually have my chosen drinks when it's the colder time of the year, but this week has made it even easier. Had a few Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stouts and a few pints of Guinness. Of course for the most part Mr.Daniels and I sat around and discussed the weather and how to handle things.

My wife has been driving for 2 hours and said that she has made to the intersection of E/W and Atlanta RD and has decided to turn around. She said after taking so long to get that far and still so far to go, it's just not worth it. Besides she would be leaving early today anyway. She said the ride sucks and there are cars that can't negotiate the hills which takes longer, and makes it scary. I guess the ride depends on how far you have to go. I saw a guy on FOX5 this morning that turned around at E/W Connector and Floyd to go back home too. he said his commute was to Swaunee , can't even begin
