  1. That must be one of the most difficult industries to break in to; you almost have to be a former player or have some kind of connection. An outsider seems to have almost zero chance of ever being considered.
  2. Now that must have been awesome. I know I would enjoy a job like that. All I want is to wake up every day excited about what I do for a living. I have never felt like that my entire life.
  3. Yes, and I'm also in the GA Works program. Why more people don't do this is beyond me...the worst that can happen is that you add a 6 week internship to your resume. There is no cost to the employer, and if you complete the entire GA Works program, you get $360. It's not a ton of money, but if you do great at the internship, that can only increase your odds of being hired by that company or another in the same field.
  4. Mark Willix knows of a good one, but I forget her name at this moment. COG Homes is also highly recommended by some friends of mine.
  5. Now that you mention it, it does look like some of the same jobs are posted on both CareerBuilder and The Ladders. They charge an arm and a leg for upgrade membership, and like you said, job boards aren't exactly effective right now.
  6. I haven't used it (I'm a $1,000,000 talent), but a few friends of mine (HR Directors, IT Directors, etc) haven't liked their results. Their current jobs are well over $100K, and were just looking for new opportunities. I bet it is better than CareerBuilder if your career arc is higher than most.
  7. Most people don't give a rats arse about this, black or white. Just like most things, a few loudmouths get the most pub.
  8. I'm happy our executive branch is healthy. Not every executive branch can survive 5 heart attacks and 2 DUIs.
  9. Uh, how big is this chance? I'll even take $500,000 pesos.
  10. Thief in the night, that's all I have to say.
  11. Just go to KITV in Hawaii... or My link
  12. Agreed. I have family there, there are pcommers up there (Hoshi), and to think Georgia is immune from 'perverts' is a fallacy.
  13. Thoughts, prayers, crossing fingers, knocking on wood, etc., should also be going out to those who might be affected by the possible tsunami. The earliest possible arrival time for a tsunami in Hawaii would be at about 4:20PM our time. In the quake in 1960, as mentioned by Markdavd, a number of people lost their lives due to the tsunami that hit Hawaii; the waves were 35 feet high. Also to note: this quake was 700-800 times larger than the one in Haiti. If there is a silver lining, Chile is a quake prone nation, and has significantly better infrastructure than Haiti.
  14. Not I. Unless someone is offering tickets...
  15. Yeah, I'm mad at my (soon to be ex) sister in law for the same thing.
  16. It takes two to tango...there's a lot of nasty out there.
  17. Wow, that's one big 7 year old. I didn't weigh 120 until hitting the weights for high school football. That aside, I hope they find him safe and return him to his grandmother.
  18. I'm part Cherokee, and I had members of my family kicked out of Georgia in the Trail of Tears by another member of the family (they weren't kin yet, of course)...General Winfield Scott.
  19. I wish I had been convinced of who to vote for so I could have made time to get to the polling station, but I don't believe in voting for a candidate just because you like their name (it happens) or party affiliation.
  20. Video! Video! Video! I think you also win for the post with the most 'Yukon's included.
  21. At least we'll know for sure where the money is going...
  22. Good question JMT. If they could possibly have their own forum or thread where they could respond to certain issues or provide updates, then I think it would be fine. It probably wouldn't be in their best interest if they responded to many of the everyday topics.
  23. I've never found boots that fit my size 13s and giant calves comfortably.
