  1. My daughter's friend went to a private school, graduated when she was 16, graduated college at 19 and taught high school English in a top-notch private school. She was only a year or so older than most of her students. Brilliant young lady.
  2. We're on our third Honda Pilot. Bought new one in 2002 (2003 model). Loved it so much, bought a one-owner, same make, same model, same color as the first, about 2 years ago for daughter to use. Bought a new one in November. We're going to sell one of the other two, but they have been great vehicles. We've been very pleased with Honda.
  3. Do kids go to school 40 hours a week now?
  4. OK you birdwatchers, what are these? - Magnolias and Chicks
  5. Don't look at houses on your own, just driving through the neighborhoods, unless you can afford those houses. You will fall in love with that $500,000 house and the $250,000 house will not be what you want anymore. You'll be disappointed in every house you can really afford after you've seen your dream home. (Just using $$ as an example - have no idea what your budget is!) Good luck!!
  6. Congrats! And welcome to the "Every day is Saturday" club!
  7. The fact that the controller let his other child do this the next day bothered me more than the first one. The children were not in school so it seems like they were there all day. He made a comment about this is what happens when the kids are not in school. Makes you wonder how often this happens. And, what if there had been a mishap on the runway/taxiway/in the air? My daughter is a commercial pilot and she was not too worried about it - until she realized this same controller let his other child (the boy's twin sister) do the same thing the next day. Not a good practice, and now every
  8. Do you by any chance have gas logs? They really suck up the propane. We have a 500 gal tank also and had it filled early January, and again middle of February. ETA: We do have a heat pump, too.
  9. Weatherboy, you always put a smile on my face!
  10. And if there had been a mishap on the runway or taxiway or in the air (cleared for takeoff), would it have been 'kid in the control tower error' or the usual 'pilot error'?
  11. My hubby had a friend of a friend (so I wouldn't recognize the voice) call me to remind me how old I was getting and wanted to get my preferences for my funeral and casket. "What songs do you want? Just music, or singing? Who do you want to speak? What's your favorite color? Red? So you want your casket lined in red? Now, how tall are you? And how much do you weigh? Just so we can get the right fit for you. And what kind of flowers would you prefer?" On and on he went! I finally said, "You know, I'm pretty sure my husband's going to need his casket before I do 'cause I'm gonna kill h
  12. Dead flowers, "Dirt" cake (older than dirt - made with crushed oreos and pudding, gummy worms, etc.) Prune juice. Everyone wear black or black armbands. Eddie's Trick Shop on the square in Marietta has a lot of "old" gifts - walking sticks with horns, house shoes that make a noise every time you step, thick lens' glasses, etc. Have fun!!
  13. The Apple Barn is a great place to eat.
  14. If the fine for littering was about $2000 or more, maybe fewer folks would throw their trash out of the car window. We've traveled through states where the fines for littering are huge, and the roads are not littered with trash.
  15. Ours took about 2-1/2 to 3 weeks. We had passports which had expired a few months earlier which we sent in with the new apps.
  16. There are a couple of similar rings on this page My link. (Never tried a link before-hope it works)
  17. I hope you find your baby. I was asking because a friend of mine saw someone put a small dog out of a car and she rescued it, but it's not a rat terrier. I was hoping she had found your baby.

For kids, the Tellus Museum and the Booth Western Museum in Cartersville are both great.

    day trips

Dahlonega, Helen, Callaway Gardens, Warm Springs (the Little White House, and lunch or dinner at the Bulloch House).
  20. Dr. Jack Bickford at Distinctive Dentistry. He's great. I'm his biggest coward!
  21. Many states we've traveled through have "Keep right except to pass" laws. You can't get in the left lane and stay there. I also like the areas where the big trucks have to stay in the right lane(s), with a speed limit 10 mph lower than for cars. That makes traveling much less frightening to us old grampas and grammas. FYI, on Dallas Highway, the right lane is usually faster moving than the left lane, and I love it when the LEOs have their cars/motorcycles waiting at John Ward Road for those who refuse to get into the left lane and wait like the rest of us, then try to break in line in
  22. "You're not really going to go there, are you?"
  23. I'd like pictures of the dishes. PM sent.
