We got a charge on a phone bill and when DH called about it he was told that I had signed up for it, which I did not! The phone company will allow 3rd party companies to charge things to your bill without your consent or knowledge and it's up to you to find out who's placing the charges and have them stopped. He went round and round with that company who told him there would be additional charges until they could get them stopped - several months! After he finished with them, they assured him that there would be NO additional charges and that the other charge would immediately be reversed!

We've used Tibbitts Exterminating for about 30 years. Local, great people, honest. Tell them Santa sent you!

Does anyone know where to get no cost blood work?

Check the National Association of Free Clinics. There are several in Georgia, none in the immediate area, but some close enough if you don't mind a little drive. -
Hiram has a full page inside back cover ad about the tree lighting in the Our Town Magazine that just came out.

Lots of people come to this one! It's great fun and very well done! You can park at the ball fields and catch a shuttle into Hiram.

Old Town Hiram is off Hwy. 92 (Hiram Douglasville Hwy) at Church and Main Streets, where the Hiram Coffee House is located, and the Olive Tree restaurant.

Santa arrives (usually in horse-drawn carriage) in Old Town Hiram at 6:00 on Friday, Dec. 3. There will be reindeer, music featuring local choirs, chorus and dance groups, food and beverages, horse and carriage rides, train rides for the kids and more! Lots of fun!!

Santa will be arriving in Old Town Hiram on Friday, December 3. Hope to see you all at the tree lighting!

Unless they changed recently, the MDJ online is not free unless you already subscribe to the newspaper.

They are probably just getting them ready to go for the tree lighting in December. I doubt they could get them all hung and working between Thanksgiving and the 3rd of December. Hiram has a lot of great lights and we look forward to seeing them each year!

Their mom is a cousin of mine. I think they had a "Flint", too!

If you love Christmas trees and all the decorations, you'll love the Biltmore House at Christmastime. I think they start in November. The dining room will have a 40 foot live tree, which will be changed out for a fresh one around the end of November or first of December. All the live greenery will also be replaced to keep everything fresh and smelling great. The long room across the back had four trees filled top to bottom with Christopher Radko ornaments, so many you could hardly see the trees. Every room had some type of decorations or trees, simply beautiful! They had someone playing

If you want Italian, Vincent's is very good, on Barrett Parkway near Pikes. Also Ipilito's near Town Center.

Good Morning America had someone on there today who was decoding those slang and text messages. Every parent should be aware of what some of those messages really mean. Check out GMA Webspeak 101 for Parents.

Several years ago, some friends sons got into some trouble. Their father was a preacher, so he told his youngest (about 15 at the time) that he was digging his own grave. And that his punishment was to 'dig his own grave'. Everyday, the boy had to dig his grave in his own back yard, 6 feet long, 4 feet wide, 8 feet deep. Each day his dad checked his progress. After the grave was completed, the son had to fill it back up. Of course, during this time, he was not allowed to do anything but go to school, do his homework, and dig. I don't think John ever had to dig his own grave again.

I had mine out many years ago. My pain was right where the rib cage divides, top of stomach area. A friend had an attack the same week and she hurt in her back and shoulders. My doc said with gb you can hurt anywhere. My friend's gb had ruptured so she had to have extensive surgery to remove all the bad stuff. Mine was still in tact but the doc said it would have ruptured if I had waited another day or two to have it removed. The procedure is so easy now and recovery is so quick, don't hesitate to have it removed if your doc says you should. Good luck!

And, many times, the house is being rented out, so the 'owner' doesn't live there anyway. They also don't have 2 months to move - it's usually a month or less. Renters may have been paying their rent on time, but the owner did not pay the mortgage, so CFK helps the renters with relocating.

I worked for a real estate agent who dealt exclusively with foreclosed properties. When the property is foreclosed on by the bank, the bank would ask the agent to offer X number of dollars as "Cash for Keys", meaning that the person living in the property would move everything out of the house, leaving the house 'broom clean' and take the $$ for turning over the keys to the agent. The agent would inspect the property to be sure everything was removed before turning over the $$. The house would immediately be rekeyed, and the bank would advise realtor on what they wished to do with house (re

Don't worry, bookworm. Nothing will ever take the place of curling up with a good book. You've got to 'feel' the pages, enjoy the 'smell', let your mind take you to another place. Computer books just don't cut it - besides, who could sit at a computer for hours on end?? My DD is an avid reader, and has books on her Ipad that mimic the sound of the page turning, but she much prefers the real thing!

Would a wide rubber band work? Or you could make some from wide elastic. Years ago (back in the dark ages, I know...) women wore elastic bands around their stockings to hold them up - this, of course, was in the prehistoric days before pantyhose were invented. Oh, and men also wore elastic bands (garters) on their shirtsleeves to hold them up, too! They even wore fancy ones that could be seen.

I think more doctors are scheduling out-patient surgeries for only one day per week. There's several in Atlanta in the same building who only do surgeries on Tuesdays, early on Tuesdays. We had to be there at 7:15 am for a 9:00 am procedure. By noon, all the docs were through with their surgeries for the week. This is probably more cost-effective for them, and for the OR staffs, too.
