  1. Woohoo! I am very happy about this. There are too many children who spend their life in the system. They never have love, family, or even hugs. It seems crazy to me that a politician (or anybody) would think that a child would be better off growing up without love than live in a non-traditional home where they would be wanted and loved. If we set aside our feelings about what two people do behind closed doors and we allow the welfare of the child to be the most important aspect I can't see how anybody would think the child would be better off growing up unwanted, unloved, and alone
  2. You've convinced me to try the Stonewall Manor in Cartersville. I know some of you frequent this place so who else is going tonight?
  3. Ahh. Just consider that you've been Boo'd but they forgot to leave the candy.
  4. I love this post. I'm in the proces of evaluating FB and making this decision for my 'tweens. I don't even have a FB myself. But, I'll certainly have one if I let them have one. I don't see a big problem with other parents friending the kids so they can help keep an eye on what is posted. I do have a big problem with professionals such as teachers crossing the line from teacher to FB friend. I guess I'm just an over protective mom. Our family is in a business that could potentially make people very mad (evictions, foreclosures, etc.) and I don't want those people to have easy acce
  5. It's a great morning. I'm enjoying my Starbucks, catching up on some computer stuff, and getting ready to to a few errands. It's a great day to be out and about.
  6. Right. Most parents shop around and visit several centers before they decide which one to place their child in. They know what to look for and what to ask. I'm just trying to figure out how this went un-noticed so long. Don't get me wrong. I'm in no way blaming the parents. Accidents happen. This could have been a very unfortunate accident or an oversight by an untrained employee. Regardless, it shouldn't have happened.
  7. This place has been there for a while now. How can they still be in operation without a license? Most daycares have their license hanging on the wall and they offer the Bright From the Start website for potential customers to review their "report cards." I can't imagine all the parents who've walked through their doors have never asked to see their license or reviews. If this is true the names of the school operators need to be made public so they don't go down the road and set up shop somewhere else. This type of stuff is what gives legitimate childcare such a bad rap.
  8. We've been doing this for about 8 years. The Boo-ing usually starts at the first of October. The little kids love doing this. The older kids think it's great because they can play Ding Dong Ditch without getting in trouble. When we do it for adults we usually leave small gift cards or certificates for a sandwich.
  9. If you're up near Seven Hills there's a new deli next to CVS. I had supper there last night and the chicken salad was very good.
  10. Maybe Steven Tyler and Grace Slick could borrow that bra for their jowls.
  11. Yeah, It looks like she forgot to put make up on her left eye. Not that it would have helped.
  12. Oh my!! He must have one of the sexiest voices ever. I could get excited by him just reading directions. I met Dale Earnhardt and Bobby Flay.
  13. If you're running late and have to pick up something on the way go to Krystal. They have a scrambler bowl with grits, egg, cheese and sausage. Just ask for it without the grits. I wouldn't do it everyday but it's something to get you by in a pinch.
  14. That pic. of Steven Tyler cracked me up. He and Keith Richards both look homeless.
  15. Here's my guess. This post is by a person sharing how excited she is about a great deal she found. I didn't see your post so I don't know but was it worded more towards advertising a non-commerce member?
  16. I have the same problem of calling other people while I'm in a conversation. Sorry, but I hope you get a good answer. As far as deleting text messages, I can tell you how to delete a whole conversation but you have to do it one user at a time. Good Luck.
  17. Question: I've only paid a little attention to the current political incentives so help me out here. Did I hear correctly that the government is giving tax breaks to businesses that are hiring unemployed workers? Doesn't that encourage people to quit their jobs before looking for another one? It just seems that this would make the supply of potential employees much larger than the demand, therefore, decreasing the salary and perks required to keep good employees. Maybe you are just experiencing the results of new policies. I REALLY don't want to get this thrown into the politic
  18. I feel your pain. Mine haven't caused trouble yet but the teenage years are about to attack like turkey vultures on week old road kill. As a parent I try to take full responsibility for the trouble they cause while giving them total praise for everything good they do. I have three kids and they are all as different as earth, wind, and fire. When they screw up the hardest thing to do is restrain from asking where I went wrong. It's their life. They're responsible. They choose whether or not to listen, heed advice, or learn from their mistakes. Our job is to guide them and gi
  19. Usually, the banks know the family has no chance of paying the mortgage and they do this to encourage a friendly parting of the ways. We've looked at a couple foreclosures and the previous homeowners left the homes in total disarray. They cabinet doors were removed the interior door hardware was removed, light fixtures and even faceplates were removed, connectors to the appliances were cut. Many people get pi$$ed when they get foreclosed or evicted. The $2,000 move out actually saves the banks a lot of money in repairs.
  20. The "High Five" was the best! I usually have a very low tolerance for stupidity but every now and then you just can't help but laugh.
  21. Since you are a natural organizer you probably think you can handle everything by yourself. You have to accept the fact that you need help and take it when it's offered. It's hard to let go of the idea that the only way to get things done right is to do them yourself. I know, I suffer from that idea too. When someone asks what they can do to help you, tell them something even if it's just a short shoulder rub. Remember, people who offer help genuinely want to help.
  22. Lockheed Credit Union has this. When my kids started saving their money I opened individual accounts for them and the bank gave them each a plastic piggy bank. When the piggy bank was full we'd take it to the bank and the teller would bust it. Once she would make the deposit she would give them a new, empty piggy bank to fill. They would serch all over for coins to fill the pigs with. Fun memories.
  23. It's been done many times. My aunt has a huge "his" closet and a huge "hers" closet. She moved all her clothes in with his and used her closet as a nursery for children.
