  1. The simple answer: Yes, it's private property. However, if you are seeking a place for prayer and the church is open, unless they have some sort of sign up saying that the sanctuary is open for prayer, confession, etc., you should stop in the church office and ask if it is okay. Same goes for outside of the church.
  2. Actually, anger and outrage are just the responses that these people hope to elicit from the public. As long as people give them a platform to stand on and sink to their level, they will continue to thrive. These people don't make me feel angry at all - I feel sorry for them, especially for their children.
  3. I'm one of those people who could care less what the amount is or how it needs to be measured. If I go to someone to buy a "cord," a "stack," or even a "truckload" of wood, I look at exactly what I'm getting before I pay for it. If I don't like the price or the way the wood looks, I don't buy it.
  4. You can't cancel Comcast and I can't get Comcast service. This is the short version of a very long agonizing attempt to switch from Dish to Comcast: A few months ago, DH and I decided to switch from Dish to Comcast and take advantage of some of their special prices. Unfortunately, we have had so many prices and services changed on us, it's silly. It started with us trying to completely switch everything - cable, phone, internet, but that was too much for them to handle. At first, they told us that they could port our phone number, then they couldn't, then they wanted to change the price, t
  5. If the parents are not back by tomorrow morning, I would call the police and file a missing persons report. As for the advice for you to NOT call DFACS - think about this: What do you think will happen if something horrible has happened to the parents and you wait several days to report them missing?
  6. If you are an hourly employee, the employer is only obligated to pay you for actual hours worked.
  7. Both Belk and Dillard's at Arbor Place Mall have a good selection in their big & tall sections.
  8. The hubby and I installed hardwoods in our living room, foyer and dining room ourselves about 5 years ago. It was a lot of hard work, and after all of the aches and pains went away, we saved a fortune. It looks great, but in hindsight, I would probably pay someone to do a job that big next time.

    Spelling

It depends - how much credibility would you give to a lawyer you sent you a demand letter saying "u bedder pay it now oar or legul axshion will be cammensed?" How much confidence would you have in a doctor's office that couldn't give you the correct spelling of a medication that could save your life? How much money would you pay for a newspaper or magazine that had journalists that couldn't spell well? Spelling does matter, we've got to stop dumbing down our educational system because teachers feel like they don't have time or because we don't want to "overburden" our children. I say push
  10. This is for ALL of Georgia. These are the people that interpret the laws of the state, it's important to make sure we have qualified people in these offices.
  11. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that most people will overlook this election.
  12. My favorite restaurant close to Atlantic Station is Nan Thai on the corner of Spring and 17th Streets - just across the bridge from Atlantic Station. To me, most of the restaurants over there are good, nothing spectacular, but just good, including the Lobby at Twelve. If you just want a place to walk around after dinner, you could try Ruth's Chris at Centennial Park and then talk a walk through the park after dinner and enjoy the Christmas lights. If you want to shop a little after dinner, Strip or Geisha House is probably the best you will do at Atlantic Station. Either way, have a wonder
  13. Don't forget to vote tomorrow!! I believe the only two items on the ballot tomorrow in Paulding are judicial elections - one to the Georgia Supreme Court and one to the Georgia Court of Appeals.
  14. In the almost 20 years that we've lived in Paulding, I don't think I've ever seen him (or maybe never noticed).
  15. Here are some options to consider: Advertise and get the membership of your church behind you. Make sure that you put something about the food ministry in your church bulletin every Sunday and have the pastor talk about it on Sunday mornings. Our ministry is fully funded by the members of our church with the exception of a couple of local food drives. Speaking of food drives, this is the best time of year to talk to the local schools and daycare centers (especially the one right by your church or ones where members know the administrators). Ask them if they will hold a food drive f
  16. This is so awesome! There is definitely a need out there - we've seen an increase in the number of people coming through the FHBC food ministry now that the holidays are getting closer.
  17. Charleston - I love that city!! Shopping is fun - go to the market downtown, but also take a walk on King Street - it has lots of great stores and shops. If you love outlet malls, hop on I-26 and go towards the airport, there's a great mall just north of the city). As for restaurants, my favorite is the Noisy Oyster (the shrimp & okra gumbo with sweet cornbread is fabulous). There is also a great Italian restaurant, I think it's called Bacci or something like that. Hyman's is great for fried seafood. The Peninsula Grill has a fantastic brunch. And, if the weather is warm, go to t
  18. Look at the divorce papers. The Settlement Agreement should have outlined it. It is sometimes worded as the parent with primary physical custody, but some agreements specify a name. If his name isn't the one on the agreement, then he will need to get his ex to sign something amending the terms of the settlement agreement - but you should get an attorney for that because you want to make sure that anything she signs is legally enforceable.
  19. Texas Roadhouse had free meals for vets tonight too. When I saw the line at Applebee's and Chili's, I called them to see how long the wait was there and asked if they had any veteran's day specials and was happy to hear that DH's dinner was free!!!
  20. We order our cards from Exposures.com. They have great prices for high quality cards. We don't order the photo cards where you upload pictures, we usually get the cards where we can insert our own.
  21. I disagree that Paulette worked hard, but it doesn't matter now. Even though I didn't vote for her (and still wouldn't), I do hope that she does a great job. If she does, I won't have an issue admitting that I was wrong to choose not to vote for either candidate in that race. Also, if she does, it will only benefit the citizens of Paulding. If she doesn't, I hope the citizens of Paulding will see that and will not only hold her accountable immediately, but will vote her out in the next election.
  22. The princess and I voted at Austin Middle School this morning. It took us about an 1hr 20 minutes. The princess thought it was pretty cool to stand in line to vote and she did it very patiently - too bad most adults don't think that way.
  23. We moved it to the first Saturday with a full moon but only when it comes after the second Sunday of the vernal equinox. If it rains, then its automatically deferred to Easter.
  24. That one is easy - Change-A-Tire!! lol And my DH thought I was weird for wanting to name the princess "Macy Dillard." I should have stuck with it because I still believe the first word she ever said was "mall."
