  1. I used to work with a girl who named her daughter Morame (More-of-me). Weird. A guy I went to high school with named his daughter Canyon. I really don't like that one! I also don't like Mercedes as a name. What's next? Chevy? Toyota? Impala? gross.
  2. I'm praying for your husband's miracle. Cancer blows. My dad is dealing with lung cancer right now. Chemo is keeping it under control but, in my opinion, chemo is a bad scene, too. It seems like every week, I'm told about someone else I know who has been diagnosed with cancer. As if it's an epidemic or something. Scares me.
  3. My beagle mix also smells like Fritos! I thought it was just me thinking a dog could smell like Fritos! Cracks me up! I like Fritos, too, but the smell coming from him is not very appetizing.
  4. Crap! I better not get it at all if it tastes anything like peanut butter. I won't put it down.
  5. I know one of the business owners on there. I also know he owed a lot more than what they are showing. They are either not up to date and haven't added all of what he owes or he has paid some of it off.
  6. What does Nutella taste like? I have a coupon for it but I haven't had the nerve to try it yet.
  7. My son is named Steven Tyler after.... Steven Tyler. The first time he ever really saw a picture of him was when we went to Disney and stayed at the RocknRoll or music themed hotel. The dining room had a huge picture of Steve Tyler with his mouth wide open so we made our son stand in front of it for a picture. He asked why he had to and we said because that's where we got your name. He looked at it with a disgusted look and said "You named me after HIM?!" He was pissed. The picture is hilarious with our Tyler standing in front of Steven Tyler with his arms folded and a crabby, disgusted
  8. That's very sweet! Yes, hospice was great about telling our family what the stages were and what we could expect up until the very end. There were no surprises and that was a comfort in itself.
  9. That cracked me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grace Slick looks HORRIBLE!!!!!
  10. I saw Kenny Loggins at Grand Hotel when I worked there (Mackinac Island, MI). He was using the hotel phone at the front desk and I peeked around the wall to see if I could see him. I wound up sticking my face almost in HIS face. He said "Hi! How ya doin?" I almost died. He was cute - but very short! His wife (at the time) was a very tall, pretty blonde. They had flown on to the island to use the pool and have dinner at the hotel. The Four Tops also played at the Hotel one weekend. I never spoke to them directly but they were at the front desk a lot. They seemed happy and nice - always
  11. Maybe paying the fine will be the best lesson learned. Sometimes it hurts worse in the back pocket than anywhere else.
  12. It's a pretty picture. Maybe an antique store could help out or at least point you in the right direction to find out. I'm of no help here - sorry!
  13. I swear by Kenmore washers and dryers, as did my Mom. We bought a Kenmore set in 1989. Last year the washer motor went out (after 20 years of use) and I got another Kenmore washer. The dryer is still going strong. I only buy top loaders because of all the problems I've heard about the front loading washers. Plus, I dont' want to pay so much money just becuase it looks cool and more modern than the top loader. So, let me suggest to you a top loading Kenmore!
  14. Happy anniversary!!! Ours is tomorrow - 22 years!

    your job

No. I do not love my job. I don't even really like my job. I never wanted to be a secretary. That's what I have been doing for 22 years. It's the same old crap day after day after day.
  16. I just cannot wear jeans twice. I hate bagged-out jeans with the knees and butt sticking out. I also iron every day. My board stays up all the time in the spare bedroom. I used to use spray starch but I got carried away when I sprayed it and it took the paint off my wall so I stopped using it. I do re-use bath towels a couple of times and then get a clean one, but not wash cloths, especially my face wash cloth. I wear pajamas for about 4 nights and then swap them for clean. Bed sheets stay for a week and then get changed.
  17. My brother had a friend whose parents used to sing in a band. They often played until 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. So they would put the baby to sleep in the guitar case. They lined it with blankets and he slept soundly until they had to take him out of it to pack the guitar up and go home. We used the wrist "leash" when my son was little, but we used to attach it to the belt loops on the back of his little jeans so he couldn't unstrap himself and take off. Worked very well. You wouldn't believe the dirty looks and glares we got when we had him hooked up!
  18. From what I understand, the new fee doesn't go to whatever your tag is for (husband was GL, mine was WF). That's why we cancelled it and got regular tags.
  19. That's a rough area to drive because of all the hills. Very limited sight distance in some spots. I hate to hear this.
  20. I'm guessing you've never driven in Illinois before!! We gave up our tags for "regular" tags this year. Didn't need to pay the extra $70 it would cost for both of us to keep them.
  21. Thank you so much for that link. My sisters and I (5 of us) are on the Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry and our family supports the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. There are so many ways to get involved and, you are right, it IS everyone's responsibility to raise awareness. I know far more women and men who have had breast cancer than any other cancer. I had a re-check last year on my mammo and that scared the crap out of me. I can't imagine going in and actually finding out it is breast cancer. Again, thanks for the info! GMR
