  1. I was just going to mention that one!! Too hilarious!!!
  2. My husband bought a Cadillac CTS there this past April. He had a certain price in mind and we got there and they helped us go on line and search for one in his price range. They had exactly what he wanted at a Carmax in VA. We paid to have it transferred (after researching the car and our salesman calling the Carmax in VA to ask about it). The car was at Kennesaw in less than two weeks. We bought it and financed through Carmax. We will never go any place else for a used vehicle. They are fair, no hidden fees of any kind and we didn't feel like they were just trying to sell us a car for t
  3. Ha! I was watching "Little People, Big World" when I saw the commercial! I love that show!
  4. Maybe I heard it wrong, but I thought they said something about the wives all being sisters? Maybe not? Not sure what I heard - I was too shocked at the whole idea of it to pay close attention! !
  5. My son and I already "volunteer". We pick up trash once a month in our subdivision and the road between the entrances on Sweetwater Church Road.
  6. My 17yo gets his jeans at Wal-Mart. He could care less what brand is on them. As long as they don't have fake fade marks or look like they are dirty. He hates the way those jeans look. I'm glad he doesn't care about brand names!
  7. My son is in JROTC at HIram, too and worked the courtesy patrol on Friday. I know your daughter!! It took us over 1/2 hour to get down Ballentine Drive to the school to pick him up when he was done with CP. People were parking any place they could squeeze in! It was crazy! P.S. - I was the mom who had the discussion with you Thursday night at open house regarding Cowboy Woody!!!!!!!!
  8. I didn't say the sheriff's department was responsible for trash on the roadway. I said that, based on the amount of beer and booze bottles we pick up on the road, it would be a good idea for them to do a road block on Sweetwater Church Road and catch a few drunks.
  9. I found out yesterday that in order for my son to qualify for the defensive driving discount, I also have to take the course (he is being added to my vehicle and anyone insured to that vehicle has to have taken the course in order for anyone to get the discount). I have signed up for the course sponsored by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. Their web site says they are qualified for insurance discount but not for point reduction or DUI. Fine. I only need the insurance discount. However, they are not listed on the DMV web site as a qualified "school". The lady I talked to in Doug
  10. My son and I go around our subdivision about once a month or so and pick up trash. I can't believe the way people throw crap around their own neighborhood. I have to look at that s**t every day to and from work. I refuse to live in it. Sweetwater Church Road is really bad with beer bottles and other booze bottles thrown out. Makes me wonder why the PCSO doesn't do some kind of road block looking for DUI on that road. Judging from the bottles we pick up just in our little grassy area between the two entrances, they might catch quite a few drunks.
  11. Yes, I'm looking in to what else I can do with the glass i have. Actually, the lead isn't the problem, it's cutting the glass. My wrist doesn't seem to have enough strength to hold the glass firmly enough. I could buy pre-cut glass, but cutting the glass is half the fun, in my opinion! I'll figure something out1 I'm determined!! Your window is beautiful, by the way! Great idea to back light it in a place where more people can enjoy it!
  12. I love stained glass and I love to make stained glass pieces. But when I crushed the bones in my left wrist that all came to a screaching halt. I am going to have my glass table cut down shorter and see if I can still do it. I miss it so much. And I spent a small fortune on classes to learn it so I really need to get back in to it and use my glass stock. Did I mention how much I LOVE stained glass?
  13. "Bescusting"!! That cracked me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. this is kind of random but does anybody know if Robbie Benson used to be married to the woman who sang the songs and was the voice for the Disney movie The Little Mermaid? I think they are divorced and their daughter is name Lyric.
  15. I said it and I meant it. If your feet are really gross looking, keep them covered when you go out in public. ... and just saying the word "corns" makes me want to barf.
  16. Because they are tacky and have no sense in their head. I've seen men wearing flip flops with toe nails that almost made me sick. Some peoeple should just NOT wear anything that exposes their gross looking toes. Did I mention that I hate toes anyway? And belly buttons.....
  17. Cracks me up!! When I first moved here from IL, a girl at work told me they bought the owner of our company a toboggan. I was floored! I asked why in the world would they buy a 74 year man a toboggan. She stared at me like I was crazy. I stared at her like she was crazy. Another guy (from Iowa) overheard and said to me "I'll bet you think they bought that old man a sled, don't you?" I said yes and everybody cracked up! I had no idea a toboggan wasn't a long wooden sled down here - it's a hat (a ski cap if you're from IL)!
  18. My son has always liked to stir, mix and knead whatever I am cooking. He wants to be a chef and is thrilled that he finally got a foods class this year in school. He needs work on cleaning up after himself though! He said that the chefs on TV don't clean up after themselves - they have other people do it. I told him that when he gets his own cooking show (and has me as his fabulous guest cook once a month! ), he won't have to worry about it, but until then, he has GOT to start washing his own dishes when he cooks!
  19. My sister lives in Zionsville and that's where she shops.
  20. OMG!!!!!!!!! I loved Meijer Thrifty Acres when I lived in Lansing, MI! They had bulk stuff like flour, navy beans that you bought by the pound! Loved it! I hope they "creep" down this way soon. They will put Wal-Mart out of business.
  21. I think my husband and I have both become better drivers just because we know our son is watching us drive and we are more aware of how we should be driving. We could have waited until my son turned 18 and wouldn't have had to take the driver's ed course and drive the 40 hours, etc. but what good would that have done him? The driver's ed course is expensive but I think it's well worth the money. Also, just because a kid turns 15 doesn't mean they are ready to learn how to drive. Every kid is different. I have a question about the graduated license. My son will get his license
  22. My son will be 18 in December. He was not interested in getting a learner's permit until last spring. He got his permit and, after starting out in parking lots, half empty subdivisions and low traffic back roads, he drove us every place we went. he has about 90 hours of behind the wheel including 17 hours of interestate. We made him take the full driver's ed course at A Driving Advantage in Dallas. He finished the 30 hour course in late July and drove 3 of his 6 hours behind the wheel last Sunday. He does 3 hours on Saturday and then he will take the driving test with them. He said he i
  23. I detassled seed corn for Pioneer Seed Corn in Morton, IL. I was 12.
  24. My friend's grandma used to clean her cabinets with Murphy's Oil Soap and then give them a coat of car wax! They were very easy to clean after she waxed them. They have to be really clean first, though. Sounds weird but they were shiny and pretty all the time.
