My husband drove 61 to 113 this morning and said he made it fine. Lots of clear ruts and clear spots.

Dang ... Paulding's roads look better than Peachtree St in Atlanta
GGinGA replied to gpatt0n's topic in RECENT TOPICS
So true! I go down Sweetwater Church (clear) and then Brownsville Road and as soon as I crossed in to Cobb County, it was as if all hell broke loose! Brownsville Rd. was pretty clear until I hit the line. 278 wasn't too bad but once I got on Veterans Pkwy. (Bankhead) and took that in to Atlanta, it was really bad. Especially in Mableton. A lot of hills and ice. I can't wait to drive home tonight.............. -
That would provide some much needed laughter! I always laugh first when somebody falls and then go "Oh No! Are you OK?". So, where will you be walking?

I don't know if it's just me but I'm eating everything in sight

I need to go outside, too, because I am also eating everything I can get my hands on. I'm not even hungry and I'm eating! -
My youngest sister used to be some kind of representative or something for Six Sigma at Caterpillar in Peoria, IL (home office). I have no idea what six sigma is or why it's important. I do know they paid her big bucks to do that job, whatever it was.

I threw some bread out on the deck but I don't think any birds have gotten the hint yet. I hope they realize it's there before it gets frozen and they can't eat it!

Our beagle mix, Moe, is real confused! We open the door to let him out and he backs up and looks at us like "Are you kidding me?".

A little FYI for all you sick folk out there...

My mom loved Vicks. Any time we went to her with a cold-like complaint, she would say "Put Vicks". It's a comforting smell to me. -
This is what my mother-in-law did. It worked out really good for her.

My sister wraps brie in puff pastry and bakes it. I don't have any details about how long to bake and what temp. but I can tell it's very good!

Yes, we do! St. Theresa in Douglasville has a 5:00 PM mass on Saturday and a 7:00 PM Spanish mass. You are certainly welcome any time!

My husband's Aunt Mary passed away in June. She was never married, never had kids, didn't have a lot of money. So, she decided to donate her body to medical science. As soon as she died (brain cancer) and the family was notified, the funeral home picked her up and took her up to The Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois in Chicago. They distribute the bodies to different teaching hospitals for the future doctors to dissect and learn stuff. Next year, they will cremate her body and return the cremains to her sister. They have a memorial service once a year for anyone who had donated and

I just remembered what I couldn't remember before. It's called a "green cemetary" and there is one in Conyers owned by the monestary (sp?) I hope they have one somewhere in Illinois because that's what I want when I die.

There is a way to do that and for the life of me, I can't remember what the program is called. Basically, you are not embalmed or anything. They wrap you in a shroud and bury you in a field of some kind - no casket. There are no markers but they keep track of where everyone is buried and you would know where your loved one is buried. It's all natural. Actually, I think it sounds cool. Crap, I wish I could remember what it's called!! I don't know why people think death is creepy. Media I guess. If I was younger and had the money, I would enroll in a mortuary science college. I find

Ha! The first year I worked here, one of our asphalt supervisors came in with a huge pot and was dipping out eggnogg for everyone. I thought, How nice - eggnogg! So I got myself a glass and proceeded to chug it on down while my co-workers giggled and watched. I had no idea he had put moonshine in it. My tongue went numb and I sat and stared at the wall all afternoon. They offered to call my husband to come get me but I refused and drove slowly home and went straight to bed. Thank God it was a Friday because I didn't wake up until about 10:00 Saturday morning.

When I first started working here, 22 years ago, we had a Christmas dinner and party someplace every year. The owner was a very political person so a few politicians were always invited (Roy Barnes) and we do work with the railroads so Norfolk Southern, CSX and KCS wheels would be invited, too. Our accounting office personal has gone down from about 50 to about 10, so now we just get Honey Baked Ham sandwiches and chips and we all bring in sweets, cheese balls, etc. the weeks leading up to Christmas. I like it much better than having to dress up and go out to a Christmas party with people t

I think it's just personal preference. Cremation is much cheaper than burial with casket, grave liner, etc. I really don't want to be cremated and my husband really doesn't want to be buried. Not sure what we will wind up doing when we have to make that decision. Either way, you're dead and it doesn't matter to you, just to the people left behind - funerals are for the living. I don't mind this topic at all. You're born and you die. That's how it is!

Christmas socks, a holiday mug and some tea or hot cocoa packets, ornament, scented candle, small plant (Christmas cactus, etc.).

Most of the time, the cars in the procession will have their lights on and moving slowly down the road. Plus, they are usually following a hearse, so that should be a clue in deciding if they are with the funeral or just slow moving cars.
-
It's amazing how many people don't have a clue about proper funeral etiquette. I have seen cops pull people over who didn't pull off to the side of the road. The ones that really get me mad are the ones who go whizzing past the entire procession - going in the same direction!! So sorry about the loss of your uncle. I lost an uncle on Sunday. It especially sucks around the holidays.

No ice or snow on the roads ANYWHERE from Sweetwater Church Road to downtown Atlanta.

I think most of us have been an a$$ on this board at one time or another. I know I have been one all day so far today!

I remember that very well. The night it stormed was the first night my new baby slept through the night!!

I'm afraid my son is guilty of this one and it's my fault. He is a new driver and we specifically taught him to leave plenty of space between his car and the car ahead of him at lights just in case he sees the light turn green and gets fired up to go and hits the gas when the car in front of him hasn't moved yet. We have had people drive up around us and get in front of him before at a light. That really pissed me off. However, I totally agree that 3 car spaces is a bit much.

Lot's of people like that look. I'm just not one of them. Of course, I also hate the comb-over. I hate everything today. Don't mind me!
