  1. Gee, I paid more than that for mine in 1962.
  2. I have a couple of nests that DH and DS shot out of trees (well, shot the branch and the nests fell). I have them hanging in my house. Great conversation pieces. Wait till Fall/Winter when the hornets are gone before you shoot it!
  3. My HS ring was stolen when our house was broken into many years ago. Although I didn't wear the ring, I still miss it and would love to have it back!
  4. What kind of rifle and shotgun do you have to sell?
  5. Have 2 boys and a girl. Was sick with all three - the first (boy) all nine months, the second (girl) almost 9 months, third (boy) almost 9 months. Hot tea and dry toast were the least bothersome, but I was sick all day, not just in the mornings. My youngest is now 37. The doctors did not give drugs for nausea back then, so I just had to suffer through the sickness. But I forgot all about it when the babies were born!
  6. SAS has sandals in all sizes and widths. A little pricey, but they last forever and are so comfortable!
  7. I went to Cedartown this morning, no line, 2 people waiting in chairs, got my number after I told them why I was there (renewal), and by the time I filled out the paperwork, I was called. In and out in about 15 minutes. Painless!
  8. I'm too far "over-the-hill" to order online this time around. Where's the least crowded place to go now? TIA!!
  9. There are the usual restaurants there, too, on the other side of the "4-lane" - Red Lobster, Applebees, Los Reyes, etc. Appalachian Grill is our favorite.
  10. I have a friend who went. Had some trouble afterward that his local dentist had to clean up. Seems that they didn't use (or have) the proper adhesive or glue or something. I'm such a dental chicken that I would never go anywhere like that - the thought just scares the heck outta me. But, to each his own...
  11. Lip sync "We are Fam-i-lee". Teach them how to make paper hats out of newspaper - everyone makes their own! Bring old photos of the family and discuss the family tree. Tie-dye t-shirts. Do you quilt? scrapbook? paint/draw? sing? write poetry?
  12. We did take the trip via boat and bus to the real Mayan ruins on the mainland. Our tour guide kept telling us, "There are "ruins" everywhere in Mexico and they are building new ones every day." We felt it was worth the extra boat ride (45 mins to 1 hour) and the bus ride (1 hour) to see the real thing. Absolutely beautiful and worth it!
  13. Just throwing this out. What about a house 'sitter'? Maybe some recent college grad, or a just married young couple who needs temporary housing. My son and his wife did this when they first got married. The owner just wanted someone short-term in the house, they got a deal on the rent, and were good custodians of the place.
  14. Just finished To Kill a Mockingbird.....again, but it's been years since I read it. Love that one!
  15. If it was a McD's cup, they used to (maybe still do) give free same-day refills from any McD's. That's what we were told at a McD's while traveling a couple of years ago.
  16. In addition to fatback, salt and pepper, my mother always added about a teaspoon of sugar to her beans, peas, etc. while they cooked.
  17. I used to be the only stay-at-home mom on our street, and my kids were the youngest in the neighborhood. When school was out everyday, all the kids on our street came to my house (uninvited), but they would play with my little ones while I did stuff around the house. I usually had cookies and kool aid on hand, so that was a quick and cheap snack. On days I didn't want the house full of kids, when the first one asked for a snack, I'd say, "I've got a special treat for you when you leave today." (something like Little Debbies). I was amazed how fast my house cleared out. They were usually g
  18. That sounds so much better than 'massive heart attack'.
  19. My cousin had lipo done for her class reunion several years ago (she worked for the plastic surgeon). She looked great for a few months, then it all came back. I don't know about 'new' procedures.
  20. We've been there, but didn't stay overnight. You can see everything in a day. If you want to stay over, Andy's homeplace is available to rent and it's close to town.
  21. Send your Mother 30 flowers and thank her for having you!
  22. Many years ago my daughter attended a private kindergarten. Her teacher felt like it was too much stress to put on the children to have a graduation ceremony. She had been a public school teacher for many years before starting her own private kindergarten in her home. She held an end of the year picnic at a scout camp on the lake instead. The whole families were invited, and we all had a great time. Her husband cooked hamburgers and hot dogs. It was a great ending to a great year. We (parents) thought we wanted a 'graduation', but our kids had a lot more fun without the stress to perform
  23. Peachtree Camera, Wylie Road, Marietta. Paulding residents, great honest people! Call them.
  24. That's why my daughter had hers removed. Even though she could cover it with a bandaid, she was questioned about her "injury" by customers.
