  1. My SIL made a great one a few weeks ago. She took a package of the chocolate bark and a package of the white chocolate bark, melted them together and poured over slivered almonds. Break apart when cooled.

    Santa

Santa will be on the Square in Marietta on Saturdays and Sundays. Santa did the tree lighting in Olde Town Hiram on the 3rd. Professionally trained, all real Santa - even his Cookie Zone!
  3. You've probably done this before, but we still like it. Place the cube steak on a piece of foil, add some cubed potatoes, chopped onions, salt and pepper, some green beans, or corn on the cob, (or both), fold over and seal the foil and bake at 400 for about 45 minutes to an hour. You've got your whole meal in the pouch and no clean-up! I do individual servings. You can cook this on your grill, too.
  4. Thanks, LPPT! It was great to see you there!
  5. Would it be possible to obtain a few prints for Santa's scrapbook?
  6. I went to Elizabeth School! We shopped at Brown's Grocery and the fruit stand. Did you go to Elizabeth? Do you remember the Marble Inn (now Brandi's hotdogs)? I knew several families that lived behind Browns. There's a frame shop - Marietta Frame and Art - across from Southern Tech (now called something else, but I don't remember what!) They have books and books of old pictures of Marietta and surrounding areas. They will make copies of their prints for a reasonable price. I've spent hours in there looking at photos and bought several for my siblings a couple of years ago at Christm
  7. Does anyone have photos of the Olde Town Hiram Tree Lighting festivities? Any photos of Santa arriving? TIA
  8. 364 unless you count the partridge sitting in the tree, too which makes 376. Oh, and let's not forget the drums, pipes, cows, eggs from the geese......
  9. Mexican Corn Bread 1 1/2 cups self-rising cornmeal 1 can cream style corn 1/2 cup grated cheese (or more) 1 medium onion, chopped fine 2 eggs 1/4 cup milk 1/2 cup cooking oil 2 or 3 hot peppers, chopped Mix all together and cook in iron skillet at 375 until brown. ETA: I melt a stick of butter/margarine in the skillet and pour the cornbread mixture over the melted butter.
  10. Leiter's Big and Tall Shop, just north of Wellstar Kennestone Hospital on Church Street Extension.
  11. We'll be looking forward to seeing you!
  12. Unless you arrive really early, you can park at the ball fields and ride the shuttle on into town. Tip: Arrive early and bring your camera! Santa will arrive via horse and carriage. There will be live reindeer, horse and carriage rides, train rides for the kids, great food, lots of fun and festivities, and lots of photo ops. Bundle up and enjoy!
  13. They usually light the tree early in the evening. Santa will arrive shortly after 6:00 pm. I believe the Mayor lights the tree after Santa's arrival. Sorry I don't have a specific time. You might call the Mayor's office for a time frame.
  14. Hope to see all of you at the tree lighting in Old Towne Hiram on Friday, December 3, 6-10 pm. Santa will be there!
  15. To Kill a Mockingbird Miracle on 34th Street (with Natalie Wood)
  16. You probably just saw the contrails from planes waiting in line to land in Atlanta. The holding pattern is a circle over this area. You can see many planes, especially at night, a little harder to see in the daytime, but they are there, circling as they descend. Also, planes taking off from Atlanta will add to the trails. Look up 'images of contrails' and you'll see lots of photos.
  17. Pike's usually has flocked trees.
  18. The Hiram Tree Lighting is Friday, December 3 at 6:00 pm. Santa will be there!
  19. I have a friend (adult senior) who has been run OFF the trail twice, causing severe injury to her by those speedsters who didn't even stop to give her aid. She had a broken arm and head injury. There needs to be a 'trail patrol' to ticket these thugs.
  20. As you know, all those Elves report back to Santa each night. Santa also hears some great stories from children who visit him on the Square in Marietta. One of those mischievous little boogers turned his family's den upside down one night. All the furniture had been turned over and cushions scattered!
  21. Contact a local church. Many people are hurting nowadays and could use your kindness.
  22. I usually just say, "XYZ". Most boys/men know that means "eXamine Your Zipper!" and will make the necessary adjustment!
  23. Good! Stay on top of it to be sure they don't start charging you!
