  1. I check www.missingmoney.com a few times a year for myself, family, and friends' names. I also check with www.unclaimed.org for those states that don't use missingmoney.com. It pays to look at states you've lived in previously. I've found insurance policies, utility deposits, bank accounts, and stock dividends. One cousin sent me a "reward" which was very nice but I never expect that. The hunt is part of the fun and most folks need the money. You should never have to pay a fee to claim these funds so don't be fooled by anyone claiming to find funds on your behalf and asking for a finders
  2. If we're thinking along the same lines, there is some irony in this particular post.
  3. Those bolded items above are good things to investigate. I don't believe any realtor would be qualified to advise on those issues, though. County staff or professionals in those fields would be required and you wouldn't need a realtor to find those for you. My parents bought and sold three homes (one was vacant land upon which they later built) without realtors and had no problems. Neither did they ever have anything to hide. In fact, my mother presented the buyers with binders that included all the pertinent documents related to warranties along with dates of purchases/repairs.
  4. OK. Too bad my searching didn't find this but I think I found what was wrong. The video on my Fastread page was in a large frame. I clicked on the "Menu" button and THEN I chose "Browse On Demand Library" THEN a choice of videos came up. I now see the "Pcom4Teens Video."
  5. Where? I can't find it. I searched "King Tux video" and didn't see a link. I searched "Feb 6 PCOM for teens video" and didn't find it. I looked at the FastRead page and see a news video there but not a King Tux video. I've got a teen going to the prom in March.
  6. Dihydrogen Monoxide DHMO is common in milk products, too. http://www.dhmo.org/ A former U.S. Food and Drug Administration employee and a specialist in the feeding of dairy cattle, Dr. Donna Maria Waltz, warns that regulation of DHMO in the dairy industry is lacking. According to Waltz, it is the single most commonly used chemical in the production of milk. Cows are encouraged to ingest large quantities of DHMO, with studies showing that this practice can lead to increased milk production. The side effects of this practice have not been well studied.
  7. Poor Steve! Sorry for your loss. I'm sure the kids were heartbroken. Our first hamster died unexpectedly last year and it was sad. My daughter (his owner) found him in his cage and he was gone. Poor thing was cold. She cried, I cried. I realize now that he was sick because earlier that day he was sleeping in a different spot and his feet were moving like he was running. We thought he was dreaming/running in his sleep. I don't know what I could have done at the time to save him (probably nothing) but I've always felt bad about that. He was a sweety who liked to sit on my shoulder
  8. What a great idea. Echo Mill is in Cobb County on Corner Road between Macland Road and Lost Mountain Road. The back clubhouse is near the first entrance closest to Lost Mountain Road (the second entrance if coming from Macland). Turn in on Gate Post Lane, turn right on Harbormist Drive, follow that to the clubhouse on the left.
  9. I'm so very sorry to hear about Shannon's passing. You and your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
  10. A prayer just said for Shannon, you and your family.
  11. Excellent advice about putting meals in the freezer. Also, when family and friends ask what they can do to help let them fix a casserole or dish of some sort. They really do want to help and you will be so glad to have that food later when you are so tired you want to cry or slap your husband! It looks like you have about 3 weeks left which means you might have one week or four weeks left! Congrats and good luck.
  12. http://www.blueridgewebcam.com/ Looks like snow in Blue Ridge on the webcam.
  13. You'll want to have quite a few nursing bras. They'll get wet and you'll have to change. My favorite bra for the first few weeks at home and for sleeping was a very simple one found at http://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=975400361&MasterCategory_Id=MC29 These are great to sleep in to hold a pad in place and generally to wear all day while you're home.
  14. My son sees Dr. Halwig at Atlanta Allergy in Austell also for allergies and asthma. When we first started going there saw a Dr. Maricellis Armstrong but she has since left that practice. Dr. Halwig is fine but don't expect a bubbly personality. The nurses there are great. They know their stuff and were very good about the allergy testing which was not fun. My son has been on allergy shots for over 2 years and is now on once a month injections (one in each arm). Because it was a pretty long drive from west Cobb to Austell we took the serum to the pediatrician's office and go there for the
  15. I've used LGE's Web Bill Pay for about 3-4 years and love it. I hardly buy stamps anymore and only order one box of checks per year which is a big savings to me. I pay almost everything through it. When I pay my credit card bill, it transfers the money on the day I choose and my credit card company will show it coming in on that day (althought the CC company posts their receipts over night so I see it the next day but with the correct posting date). The trick to using Web Bill Pay is to set up the payment at least 2 days in advance of when it is due so that "earliest pay date" is still wit
  16. http://reviews.cnet.com/cell-phones/samsung-solstice-sgh-a887/4505-6454_7-33743662.html?tag=mncol;lst Use C-Net for reviews on all things electronic. They have excellent professional reviews by staff people and good reviews by users. I, too, am trying to decide on a new cell phone. We've been with Verizon for years and all our phones have been on a month-to-month plan for about a year now so contracts are not an issue. We can switch to ATT and get a better discount on the data plan through my husband's employer but I'm undecided about whether to spend that much money every month f
  17. Can you imagine what this kid's life must have been like up to this point? This is just so sad for the boy and the pet. edited to correct grammar
  18. I just read this, too, and was horrified at the headline. I don't want my 9 y.o. daughter and hamster lover to even see it. My avatar is our pet hamster! He's such a sweetie.
  19. Did this rain move through a lot faster and with less problem than the forecasters were predicting? Seems like the forecasts this morning called for a rainy, blustery, flooding day.
  20. He makes all the money, I make sure the bills are paid on time. All our bank accounts are joint ones and always have been. We keep one joint credit card and pay it off every month. I also keep up with his work 401(K) and make changes when necessary. I prepare our tax returns and decide what is going in the IRA accounts. Been married over 24 years and I guess he trusts me completely with the money and he has every reason to do so. We do discuss the status of our money occasionally and make joint decisions on big expenses (to me that is anything over $100 or thereabouts but does not includ
  21. We stayed at a 3BR condo at Windsor Hills 3 years ago and loved it. We had our own screened in pool. It was big and deep enough for 4 kids to splash around and enjoy but not a full size pool you'd find in someone's backyard. The best day to me was the day we stayed at the condo and used their big pool and our little pool. It's a community full of condos and homes that are all rentals. There is a gate with security to enter. We picked up a key at a rental office a mile or so away who was contracted to handle those things for the owner from whom we rented. Their office was a little dumpy
  22. Another prayer for Shannon just said. <3
  23. Any friends or family that live in a neighborhood with a community pool house that would reserve it for you? Most swim/tennis communities have nice houses with kitchens that are pretty inside.
