  1. Can you share details so that others might join? Sounds great.

  3. Lacey Posted Today, 06:44 AM ... No matter....if they change us to S. Paulding then I will school of choice my daughter....she is going to graduate at Hiram next year and I will not make her change schools for her senior year. Hopefully, Paulding has a policy in place similar to Cobb County that allows rising seniors, juniors, and sophomores to remain in their current high school. Here is a small section of Cobb's policy: See page 2 and 3: http://www.cobbk12.org/centraloffice/adminrules/J_Rules/Rule_JC.pdf "E. AFFECTED STUDENTS: When attendance zone changes are made
  4. Thanks. That helped. But, to be honest, the "Business Directory" didn't jump off the page at me and it took me a few minutes to find the clickable link. It is sort of hidden or obscured by the heading "Mast: Click For Contact Information". That didn't mean anything to me. I finally clicked on "click here for the directory" and found the searchable directory you spoke of. That really was too much work to find the information and I hope Pubby will work on making it easier. Thanks again.
  5. I searched a few different ways with key words hoping to find the commerce members that do home repair/renovation work. That brought up a lot of individual posts and was way too much to go through. I went to the forum for Commerce/Services but didn't find anything there either. I went to the Member list but that appears in alphabetical order and is way too much to sort through. Is there a better way that I'm missing? I thought there was a directory of strictly commerce members. Thanks.
  6. As reported on: http://www.wsbtv.com/news/22223837/detail.html Prayers for all: "Warren shot and killed Van Springer, 59, of Woodstock and Jaider Phillipe Marvlanda, 43, of Lawrenceville, according to police. The wounded are Roberto Gonzalez, 31, of Dallas, Zachariah J. Werner, 35, of Kennesaw and Joshua B. Holbrook, 27 of Rome. All are listed in critical condition."
  7. I've got to second (or third) the recommendation for a Dyson. I bought the Asthma model about 2 years ago with a coupon for 20% off and have been happy with it. It picks up so much dirt I have to empty the canister about every 3rd or 4th use and not because it's too small. You can see clearly how much is in it. I had to get used to the wand built into the handle but it's really a good design overall. If you can borrow one from someone for a few days it would help you decide.
  8. I make my mother's veggie beef soup. Everyone in the house like its. 1 to 1 1/2 lbs. of beef (I like sirloin) cut up in small pieces (very small) Brown in a little bit of oil in the bottom of a heavy deep pot. Chop a large onion in small to medium sized pieces and add to the pan with the meat and cook a few minutes. Add about 3 cans of beef or chicken broth to pot. When boiling, add a 1 lb. bag of mixed veggies (I buy the kind with corn, green beans, carrots, and peas and sometimes lima beans.) Add 2 regular or one large can of petite diced tomotoes including juice. turn heat do

  10. We were hoping to go from west Cobb near EPHS to Villa Rica and back tonight. Would be on Hwy 92S to 120/278W to 61S and returning the same way. Anyone driven those roads recently? What's it like this afternoon? Thanks.

  12. Looking at it from a boss's point of view: Yes, I want my employees to get to work but I see for myself what the weather and road conditions are like. Do I want to fire this new employee for not coming in on a day like today? Let's see...it took a good bit of time and effort to find just the right person to fill this position; she has the skills I want; we've already negotiated salary and benefits; she was chosen because we believe she has promise to help this company; and we've already invested money in her training. Do I want to fire her to make a point that she was not dedicated enough
  13. Good luck to him. Will say a prayer for him and the rest that have to be on the road tonight.
  14. Weather Update All Cobb County schools will be closed Friday, January 8, due to inclement weather and hazardous road conditions. All 12-month employees should report to work if able. ETA: It only took 78 posts to get to this point!! http://www.cobb.k12.ga.us/
  15. Maybe the list of counties under a Severe Weather Alert is being confused with the list of schools closed.
  16. Nothing posted on Cobb's website about closing yet. I, too, am hoping they'll close or at least start 2 hours late. The roads are icy around here. http://www.cobbk12.org/ Weather Update The most current weather forecast indicates snow accumulation will not begin until approximately 7 p.m. Thursday. Therefore, Cobb County schools and facilities will remain open and on regular schedules Thursday. All after-school activities that were scheduled to begin after 6 p.m. have been cancelled. Additionally, parents with children in the After School Program are encouraged to pick up their chi
  17. We're in west Cobb and there is ice on the streets in our neighborhood. Coming home tonight hubby hit a patch of ice in a subdivision off Mars Hill Road near Brookstone and the car slid sideways hitting the curb with both right side tires. The wheels are bent up along the edges. Ughh! I don't think the ice will be gone in the morning. Whether Cobb closes or not I'll keep the kids home in the morning until I feel it is safe to be out on the roads.
  18. I hope it's headed to west Cobb. It's not doing a thing here. New Hope is just a few miles from us.
  19. Absolutely nothing in West Cobb. The sky even looks brighter like it wants to clear up! Kids will be disappointed.
  20. You might find a thread from October '09 interesting. Fast forward out to about page 5. Many of us discussed Paulding and Cobb schools. What don't you like about East Paulding? East Paulding and Hiram High have the most choices of advanced placement classes from which to choose. Paulding/Cobb thread 10/09
  21. Cobb has decided to stay open until 6 p.m. "Weather Update The most current weather forecast indicates snow accumulation will not begin until approximately 7 p.m. Thursday. Therefore, Cobb County schools and facilities will remain open and on regular schedules Thursday. All after-school activities that were scheduled to begin after 6 p.m. have been cancelled. The District will continue to monitor weather and road conditions into the night. If an
  22. http://www.hsvcity.com/traffic.php Check link for two traffic cameras in Huntsville, AL. I guess this is what is on the way here later. Very light snow and wet roads are all I see right now in Huntsville.
  23. http://www.hsvcity.com/traffic.php Just looked at webcams in Huntsville, AL. Appears to be a very light snow falling that can just barely be seen on the camera at the moment. Looks like there might be a dusting of snow on the ground.
  24. I sympathize with the original poster. I always RSVP. It's easy enough to do and I have no problem stating when we can't attend. Details aren't necessary as to why one cant' attend, just a simple, "I'm sorry we can't make it but we wish you a wonderful (birthday or whatever occasion it is)." Also, I would never give an "I don't know" answer to anyone kind enough to invite us to a party. They deserve the courtesy of a definitive answer so they can go about their planning and preparations without the stress of any last minute additions or subtractions. If it ends up I could have made it af
