When You Should, Shouldn't Give Out Your Social Security Number
bigocobb replied to lucky64's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I haven't given out mine or my kids' numbers in years. I never fill in the blank space at a doctor's office or a dentist's office and have not had any problem because of it. They used to want it because many insurance companies used it as your account number. That stopped quite a while ago and now they probably would like to have it to be able to track down the deadbeats who skip out on paying their bills. Maybe because the docs don't have as many SSNs on file as they used to is why many offices have changed to requiring payment up front, whether it's the co-pay or in full, before you see -
11alive.com link to story "Cobb County police say someone is taking advantage of that generosity. They are warning churches to be on the alert for a suspect who is charged with theft by deception. Marvin Gipson, age 40, is accused of soliciting donations under false pretenses in four separate incidents. Cobb Police Officer Joe Hernandez says Gipson may use an alias. Hernandez says Gipson targets churches and tells people he is a victim of the September floods. He says he needs money to get to a job in Texas. And then promises to pay the money back after he finishes the job." I fig

I'd really hate listening to the bragging. It's worth a shot asking for the money back. How about this? Call (leave a message if necessary) saying, "I want to talk to you about the money you borrowed from me. I really need it back and would like you to set up a payment plan. About 1/3 of the total every two months over the next 6 months would work for me. I NEED the first payment by the end of next week." Resist the urge to tell them they are wasting money that should be paid back first. Just stick to the simple facts of the loan. Document your attempts in the event that you

Looks really nice. I'd love to see some before and after pictures of the interior. Mines a mess.

http://paulding.com/...60-person-shot/ But many things have happened on Davis mill and Mustang Dr. People that live on that road have been saying on here they want to move. Posted 15 July 2008 (This wasn't even about our neighborhood...it was a neighboring subdivision. ) You are correct that the Emerald Pines subdivision is different but it is probably within a 1/2 mile of Kingswood. If I am incorrect, I apologize. The topic mentions Kingswood several times since the police were patrolling the area looking for the suspects after they fled. It still appears to me that the Kingswood

There's a lot of postings on p.com about this neighborhood, some good, some not so good. Do a search with the keyword "Kingswood". Based on what I read it appears there were quite a few problems in 2008 and that in 2009 the neighbors have gotten more involved to get those probelms under control. Read and decide: GOOD: http://paulding.com/forum/index.php?/topic/209239-kingswood-club-estates-spring-fling-friends-and-family/ Come join the fun this Saturday from 2-6 pm The person that brings the most canned goods will win a gift basket valued at $200.00 All canned goods will then be

Working with a school can be a good way to stock the shelves. Read here for a recent example: http://www.harrisonhigh.org/article.php?Article=223 "Harrison Recognized For Food Drive Participation The Center for Family Resources and Chick-fil-A recently honored the students and staff at Harrison High School for being the largest participant in the 2009 Thanks for Giving food drive. The school collected more than 4,500 food items, which helped the Center for Family Resources provide Thanksgiving meals to nearly 1,500 Cobb families. Harrison received a 'Golden Barrel' trophy fr

I sort of like the look of them. What are the crash test ratings on these things? I can't imagine being on the road next a big Suburban or a semi-tractor trailor in a Smart car.

Can you put his car seat in his crib and let him sleep in that so his head will be up high? I've done that when mine were really little and still in an infant carrier but a car seat is a little more work to get in a crib. You'd have to be careful he couldn't climb out, too. Maybe you could keep it on the floor by your bed and buckle him in once he's sleeping. I second the suggestion for Benadryl or any allergy type med allowed for infants. Some of us had colds in late December that hung on for a month with runny/stuffy noses. Eventually they cleared up. Good luck!

Can you describe him and his vehicle to us?

Does the $180 include shipping? If so, I'd say the $180 plus $20 for your travel/aggravation time is your starting point. He will probably balk at that and you can negotiate an amount that is acceptable to both of you. Because of the age of your set I'd say be happy if you walk out with $100-$150.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/digitalnation/learning/schools/how-google-saved-a-school.html Watch this Frontline video "How Google Saved a School" but scroll out to 4:36 minutes and see how the administrators are watching the kids as they use school laptops. Creepy! It might be ok to get a view of the pages they are on but an actual photo of them? I'm so glad Cobb residents fought back on that laptop initiative a few years ago. I'll be showing this to my kids this afternoon to remind them of the possibilities when using webcams and/or microphones on the computer. I don't lik

Cool pix. The one of the lawn chairs just begs for an angel on each like SouthernScarlett made on her deck.

The ice and snow seems to be melting pretty well. The roads in my subdivision are wet but most of the ice seems to be gone from the roads. How are the smaller roads near you? I have not been out of my subdivision yet to know. Also, anyone know how 61 from Dallas to Douglasville Villa Rica is?

I'm gonna try posting a radar image here. Never did it before so not sure if I'm doing it right. Nevermind, I give up!

The first thing you should check is the thermostat inside the fridge...has it been turned to low? If you've got kids there's a good chance they "broke" it by changing the temp. Worth a shot before paying for a service call. Good luck!

Georgia Has $1 Billion In Unclaimed Funds
bigocobb replied to afriendlygeek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I honestly don't think you need to worry about that. It is law that when banks, insurance companies, utilities, or anyone is in possession of property that belongs to others who cannot be located they must turn that money/item over to the state for safekeeping. It's worth a call. It might only be a $50 deposit someone put down for phone service years ago or might be proceeds from a life insurance policy or anything else. It's worth a call to learn more and again, I really don't see a need to worry. "This unit collects from holders any unclaimed property that has been abandoned by its o -
