  1. http://www.etonline.com/news/2009/10/79507/index.html Funny...if you read down into this article the writer keeps refering to him by his character's name, "Newman," and not the actor's name of Eric Braeden. "A rep for Newman tells ET that Braeden's last airdate is November 2, adding that, as of now, salary discussions are at a stand still." "Newman isn't the first star of "The Young and the Restless" who has had contract difficulties" I guess he's played the role so long that they have become one and the same in many people's minds.
  2. I hate to be the one to point this out, but, it's "grammAr".
  3. I'm still looking into the courses offered by the different schools which make up the body of knowledge from which the students can choose. I'm only comparing the AP courses offered (below, I've listed what is available at Harrison high school in Cobb). In a previous post I listed the AP classes offered by Paulding High Schools. Students who do not have as many high level courses to choose from are forced to choose the honors or on-level courses. There could be students in any school who are perfectly capable of taking an AP course but because it is not offered at their school they mu
  4. I'm still searching what courses each school offers and so far have found that the Paulding County high schools each offer different AP/Honors courses. It appears that not every Paulding student has access to the same choices unless there is some program in place of which I am not aware. I'll post what I've found below. I was hoping to find a similar format for this information from Cobb schools but have not. I'll look for more later. http://www.paulding.k12.ga.us/curriculum/c...EPHS-School.pdf EAST PAULDING HIGH SCHOOL Advanced Placement (AP) Courses are offered in US Histor
  5. Because of this thread, I've become curious about what courses are offered at different schools. I've looked at the site below and it appears that the GA Department of Education will provide funding to local school districts for courses on its list of approved courses. All public schools would have to offer the core and required classes, but I think the local school districts pick and choose the elective courses. Example: the GADOE lists "Introduction to Construction" but Harrison doesn't offer that at all. Where can one find the list of course descriptions for Paulding county schools?
  6. I don't know that Cobb schools are superior to Paulding. Do Paulding high schools offer the same class choices as Cobb? This is a link to the many choices offered at Harrison High School: http://www.harrisonhigh.org/coursecatalog.php I am posting a few of the categories of classes offered which I found by using that link. I have not taken the time to look into Paulding's offerings so I don't know if these same classes are offered to Paulding students. Let me know what you find out, if you care to compare. 10th grade Spring and Fall Foreign Language choices • Advanced Placem
  7. We've had Uverse TV and High Speed Internet for about 1 1/2 years now and I like the choice of channels, the DVR, , the multi-view channels, and watching up to 4 different recordings in the different rooms. I've gone online to see about adding UVoice but can neve seem to find out if it is available here. I could call but just haven't taken the time to do that. Is your phone and long distance the UVoice or something different? We pay approximately $116/mo. for the TV (U200) and high speed internet. We have a regular land line through AT&T and pay about $44/mo for that with the ex
  8. Lots of information right here on p.com. Doesn't appear to be any big secret or conspiracy going on. http://www.paulding.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=224062
  9. Perhaps screen shots taken from Google Maps aerial and/or street views would show the land prior to the changes. For the most part, Google maps are a little old and show this area a year or two ago. Also, http://www.bing.com/maps/ has 3D maps that can be turned to different angles. If OP cares to name the street we can look it up and post a few here.

  11. This one is pretty simple. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Easy-Sugar-Cookies/Detail.aspx Sugar Cookie recipe. Need flour, baking soda, baking powder, sugar, butter, vanilla, and one egg. If you've got colored sugar crystals you can make them different colors on top. ETA: if you've got some canned chocolate frosting you can spread that between two cookies after they've cooled for an extra sweet treat.
  12. Do you have to be a member of the YMCA? The only "Y" I'm familiar with is in Cobb and it is pretty expensive to join. I looked at the website and read some reviews. It's interesting. Did you sign up for a 7 week program? On the Thrive site it states a 7 week program is $199 during September. Is there anything else to pay for? Thanks for sharing.
  13. I don't believe $800 per month for one child is extraordinary because it all depends on his income. Are you overlooking parts of the decree that may allow you to seek reimbursement without requesting an increase in child support? Does the divorce decree address medical expenses? Many decrees require the out of pocket medical expenses be split 50/50. Does the decree address the cost of health insurance? Many decrees require the parties to split the cost of the child's portion of health insurance? And, just out of curiousity, does the decree state he must maintain a life i
  14. Read here for detailed information about purchasing flood insurance. http://www.floodsmart.gov/floodsmart/pages...partnership.jsp "Our Partners The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which works closely with nearly 90 private insurance companies to offer flood insurance to property owners and renters. In order to qualify for flood insurance, a community must join the NFIP and agree to enforce sound floodplain management standards. The NFIP, a federal program, offers flood insurance, which can be purchase
  15. http://www.11alive.com/rss/rss_story.aspx?storyid=135470 This is from a story on 11alive.com by Julie Wolfe and references a shelter in Cobb county. However, I think the list could be considered universal to all shelters. Perhaps we can gather items from our homes and neighbors and deliver tomorrow so that we avoid the roads today. "Just before 5:00AM, a shelter volunteer handed 11Alive's Julie Wolfe a list. "This is what they really need right now," he said. The shelter has run out of: soap, socks, towels, toothpaste, pampers, sanitary napkins, and mouth wash. You can drop off don
  16. Hey, Wirenut08! Thanks for driving the buses today. I'm in Cobb and I took my kids to school by car in the morning but depended on the buses to bring them home from middle and high school. I texted my junior and told him to ride the bus home because I felt he'd be safer on the bus than with me in a van. Great job to the drivers! <3
  17. Is this that same area as seen on Google Maps? I might be a little off but it's in the same general area.
  18. How about Hwy 92 near Allatoona High School? Cobb won't delay or close as of 7 a.m....hope staff and students can get to Allatoona safely.
  19. I haven't been in a Blockbuster in probably 2 years. On-Demand is probably their biggest competition. We have U-Verse TV from AT&T. Just yesterday while feeling sad about Patrick Swayze's death I was able to rent "Dirty Dancing" for $2 for 24 hours. I didn't have to leave home, could watch it immediately with no commercials, and didnt' have to leave the house to return it. Instant gratification. It doesn't get much easier than that so I can see why Blockbuster would have trouble competing.
  20. I don't feel a need to keep up with the Jones's and couldn't even if I wanted to. I will admit to a few twinges of jealousy through the years, though. Seeing others' big homes and new cars has brought out the green-eyed monster in me at times. However, I've also learned not to judge people because they have more money than we do. I don't assume they are up to their eyeballs in debt...many are not...most got a good education, have really good jobs, and are doing very well. I have found through our interactions with school events that many of the people with the big homes in very nic
  21. "He told me that he had never told anyone else before about his 'other' three experiences, not even his big brother so that meant a lot to me" Why does this mean a lot to you? While you are searching for an answer, examine what it is you get out of this relationship. I'm not trying to be condemning of your motives here, I just think you need to take a close look at why his sharing personal information with you is important to you.
  22. I have no idea but maybe if you provide some context clues we can help. Need more info.
  23. Any recommendations for an upholsterer? We've got a La-Z-Boy recliner that we've had for about 22 years and I want it recovered. This has been the best recliner and is still comfortable, I just want new fabric and a "tune-up" on the mechanical parts, if needed. I've shopped and shopped for a new one but can't find what I want. I have to say, La-Z-Boy built this thing like a tank. I've even wished for it to die to justify the expense of buying a new one but it just won't give out and it has remained comfy! The fabric is finally worn enough that I just have to do something with it now. Tha
  24. To add to this particular post, I suggest to people hiring anyone to work on their home who states they are insured to request a "Certificate of Insurance" from that business. In my experience it is quite easy to get the agent to fax or mail a certificate to a homeowner to prove that the insurance is indeed in place. Regarding the original post by Pubby, one suggestion is to have a good website. It can't be just fluff...I want to see real photos of whatever it is you offer and they should be an accurate reflection of the product or service. When I'm researching a particular company for
