  1. Sorry for the delay, I just saw this message this morning. I like the Moment. It was a litte confusing at first because it does soooo much but my 16 year old has been able to help me along with the features. The Moment is like a little computer. You can read and store pdf documents just like on a desktop, to name one great feature. There are many apps to choose from in "The Market". I'm happy with the Moment. I'm a little less happy with Sprint's coverage. I don't get a good signal at all in my house and in a few spots here and there on the road. Most of the time it's fine though whe
  2. And they have free popcorn. My kids ask to go to Ace Hardware!
  3. I've been wondering how I can help. I'll have a kindergartener in August as well as two middle schoolers and a high schooler. I don't know how the kindergarten classes are going to be affected by the non-renewal of contracts. Are the para-pros going to be retained? If the kindergarten para-pros are not renewed and the kindergarten teachers are responsible for a full class on their own, I would volunteer to work in the classroom one or two days per week. Maybe some of the parents could organize and volunteer to be the para-pros. I think a high school student will fair better with larger c
  4. Thanks for the info. It sounds like they are regularly dealing in used cars. I will just continue my search through the internet. I am looking for something no older than 2004 and in the $7500-9500 range, preferably a Japanese manufacturer.
  5. Used to be I could always count on seeing some decent used cars for sale by private owners parked at the Publix shopping center at Lost Mountain on Dallas Highway in Cobb. I guess the bank on that corner or the shopping center management has put a stop to it. We are looking to buy a used vehicle in the next month or so and wondered where people in Paulding, west Cobb, Acworth, Powder Springs, and surrounding areas park cars for sale. Any ideas? I'm searching Craigslist and Autotrader Online regularly. I will not go a dealer. Thanks.
  6. The momma bird just left the nest and I see one egg.
  7. That is beautiful. Any idea when the eggs will hatch? You reminded me I need to go fill my feeder.
  8. I've never known anyone to actually eat fondant. It's so tough. Aren't cakes using fondant still covered with a layer of buttercream frosting first? I agree that the kneeding and manipulation of fondant as seen on the cake TV shows turns me off to it, also. It's not cooked after all the manipulation like bread dough would be.
  9. I love a good chicken salad with walnuts and grapes in it. An old fashioned BLT is always good, too.
  10. We got a new roof through State Farm in 2007 after a hail storm. We let the roofer work with the adjuster and they came to an agreement. I was told that there wasn't much roof damage from hail but there was wind damage from straight line winds which lifted up the shingles and caused them to be loose. It broke the seal and was no longer sound. edited to correct spelling
  11. I voted for closing on Sunday/Monday. I stopped by your store one time last year and it was closed and I haven't been back. As a small business owner you have to find a way to balance your private life with your professional life and I understand that. However, the way I shop, I want stores to be open when it's convenient for me and that could be pretty much any day of the week between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. If I have to go look up your website or make a phone call to find out your hours, I probably won't do it. It's not important that you be open on Sunday for me, though, because I am used to
  12. We made the change to Sprint last weekend. We got 3 Moments for me, DH, and DS and 1 Sanyo for my mother. I'm happy with the phones so far and have been busy trying to learn the many features. I love having internet anywhere I go. GPS built in to Google maps is really cool. There are lots of Android apps and I've only downloaded a few (bar code scanner is great one). I don't get a good signal on the main level of our home so that stinks but DS gets a good signal in the basement. Go figure! I haven't had the need to contact customer service or had any problems and time will tell whether
  13. Post the details of what you want and we may help you find a deal: cubic feet, color, features, style, name brand, price range.
  14. I don't like tip jars at restaurants where I walk up to the counter, place my order, pay the cashier standing there, then carry my own food to the table. I don't see where they offered any extra service. I also believe they are making minimum wage or better. Isn't that over $7/hour now? I frequently order online from Papa John's and go pick up the pizza. I also pay online with a credit card. Every time I go in to pick up the food I am presented a receipt to sign that includes a line for a tip. I do not feel they have done anything extra to earn a tip at this point. I feel forced t
  15. Thanks. It appears the GA Standard Deduction is just $3000 but when itemizing Federal I get to use over $12K. So, I guess I'm doing it right and will file with the itemized deductions. Wow, I'm still so surprised that TurboTax and Taxslayer don't advise you that you could get more state refund by itemizing. They just look at the Federal and advise which is better. If I'm right, people are trusting the software but possibly losing money if they don't look further into the choices.
  16. I'm finishing up our taxes online using Taxslayer and double checking with Turbotax. I have found both suggest I use the standard deduction with the extra $1K for real estate taxes on the Federal return. This causes me to owe $30 to Georgia. When I use the itemized deductions on the Federal it is just $50 less than the standard deduction but it causes me to get a refund from Georgia of over $500. I am so surprised by this. Why would the software programs not pick up on this? I'm researching because I'm wondering if this is right or if I'm doing something wrong. I've done our taxes for 2
  17. There's a place on Barrett Parkway near Dallas Highway that says barn and field for rent. I don't know if they mean it for parties but that's what I thought of when I saw it. It's somewhere between Target and Alexander Farms subdivision on the opposite side.
  18. Thank you all! I am pleasantly surprised at the large percentage of positive responses. I'll try to post again when we finally pull the trigger and order to update y'all on my experience.
  19. My Sprint shopping cart currently has 3 Android Moments and one Sanyo on a 1500 minute Everything Family Plan with a corporate discount. Plan would run $135.97 before taxes and fees. So, I'm estimating $150-155/mo. This is the Everything Data-1500 Shared Anytime Minutes Included plan with 3 add-ons. The Moments will be $100 each and the Sanyo for $30. We are presently on a very old Verizon plan that has been off contract for almost 18 months. We pay about $115/mo. which includes taxes and fees for 4 lines with 700 shared minutes, 1500 texts on one phone, and no data. Our monthly pr
  20. If you use Sprint for cell service please share your thoughts and opinions on your service/customer service/billing errors/phones. We are considering a change to Sprint (west Cobb area) and it will be a two-year contract. We are also considering three Moment Android phones from Sprint. If you have knowledge on this particular phone I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions about it. Thanks in advance.
  21. My mother had to cut them down and burn out the roots/stump to finally be rid of it completely.
  22. What did he and the kids look like? He'll probably be on another corner pretty soon. Agree that Food Pantry is a better way to make sure food gets to those in need. Even if some of those folks take advantage of the system, they've only got food and not cash for Lord knows what.
  23. You've done a wonderful thing. Good luck to you on the registration drive. Would you mind sharing the details of your experience on "Collection Day". I'm very curious what's involved, how long it took, how much work you had to miss, etc. Thanks. I am on the Caitlyn Raymond registry but have never been contacted since joining about 8 years ago. http://www.crir.org/ There seem to be quite a few registries out there...do they share information with each other?
  24. Wow, they look so real. Can you imagine leaving this baby doll in the car while you shop? You'd return to find the police breaking in to save it.
  25. Good post. If you are an employee, have you reflected upon your set of skills, education, and attitude and done all you can to maximize what you offer to an employer? By the way, there ARE businesses hiring out there. I have a relative graduating with a bachelor of science in engineering in May who already has been hired and will be starting in the high $60s right here in the Atlanta area. Not bad for a 23 year old. He wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth, either. He has worked and borrowed to get through school. He's obtained the education, has some internship work experie
