  1. The implication of the announcement was 'Do the right thing because it's the right thing to do.' I daresay whoever decided that an announcement would be made in the first place HOPED that the request would be enough. What's pathetic is the fact that seeing the first perps being removed wasn't enough to deter the *other* perps from acting as if they were raised by wolves. ::shaking my head::

    OUCH!

Yep. Although I will say that my bout with sciatica many years ago was even worse. I had a pinched nerve in my neck about a year and a half ago. Tried muscle relaxers and Prednisone first, with little result. After a month of pain, I went to a chiropractor for the first time in my life. After a couple of months of twice-a-week treatments, I *did* finally get relief. However, I hope I never need a chiropractor again, because I was nonplussed by their ... determination to keep me coming back.
  3. It was a very British ceremony - conscious of their history, not particularly flashy, and interspersed with fun. I didn't see a single wince-able moment, unlike those TACKY chrome pickup trucks in the Atlanta opening ceremony (groan) ....
  4. Were you given this to read? http://www.medicare.gov/publications/pubs/pdf/10153.pdf There is usually someone at the nursing home/rehab center who can answer insurance and Medicare questions, too.
  5. I think it would be very neighborly to return this person's trash, if you know where s/he lives. And to make sure s/he knows it's been returned, perhaps you could make sure to place the bagged bottles behind the tires of that truck ....
  6. That Honey Boo Boo kid is the most repulsive child I have ever seen. Raising any kid to act the way she does - and I've only seen the *commercials* - ought to be considered some form of child abuse. If you're done with pageants, why do you have a FB page - accessible to the public - for your VERY young daughter? I try not to be too paranoid over what people can do with stuff they find on the Internet, but I also wouldn't want to make it easy for creeps to get their jollies.

  8. A few years ago, there was yap that the Cartersville and Canton offices were to be consolidated, but that never happened. I've only been to the Cartersville office once a looong time ago for a training session - it was on Hwy. 41 then. Is it still there?
  9. True enough. I can remember a time when folks would tell us they got to the office two or three hours *before* we opened to try and be first in line. The earliest I ever heard was 5:30am - and that's when we opened at 9!
  10. From whom did you hear that Cartersville has a three-hour wait? If that's true, it's still better than most of the offices in metro - the Norcross office had a SIX-hour wait when WSB was there yesterday.
  11. True dat. If someone named Crist or someone in a Crist business vehicle hit me, I'd wonder if the officer was completely impartial.
  12. Sounds fair to me. Does make me wonder, though ... what if you wanted to donate a car to, say, the Georgia State Patrol? Would it be permitted, or would it be perceived as a conflict of interest? I would guess the latter - and properly so.
  13. Then put me down for your pity party. If you don't see the potential there for a certain expectation of returned favors, then *I* feel sorry for YOU.
  14. Must've been a different thread.
  15. Unless they were told they could leave their pets on a Sunday, then were told at the last minute that they *couldn't*, I fail to see how it's the BUSINESS' fault. Most places advertise their hours of operation.
  16. Try not to over-think it. IMO, if the house is clean and orderly, inside and out, I really believe that's all most folks will notice. If the things you *can't* control, like neighborhood, proximity to major roadways, and schools, are satisfactory, and if you make your home attractive price-wise, you should do well. Good luck!
  17. The only thing I didn't like about this post is the fact that I could only give it ONE +.
  18. IMO, the best thing that could happen for The Dugout is for people to back off for a while from singing its praises and give them some time to adjust to their (apparent) increased business. It doesn't do them any good to attract extra customers if most of them are alienated by the long waits. Unfortunately, most folks aren't as understanding as the OP - they've been spoiled by drive-thrus and would rather have mediocre food fast than good food a little slower. We haven't been to The Dugout yet - it's not on any of our beaten paths - but we had talked about trying it in the next few days.
  19. Perhaps some of the folks on here can't remember a time when Monica wasn't part of the WSB news team, but I can. Believe me, she helped open up television broadcasting to persons of color, and she did it with grace and integrity. I think she's great and she'll be missed. If the tributes are getting on your nerves, hit the 'mute' button.
  20. I watched a little of 'The Voice' this past year (until the singer I was rooting for was eliminated). IMO, if you're not quirky or at least a little weird, they don't want you. During the aired audition shows I saw very good singers go home while others who sounded like they had been gargling pea gravel were sent through. I'm pretty much disillusioned with all of the so-called 'reality' shows.
  21. Very, very sad. According to the first reports I heard, the guy on the jet-ski was with the folks on the pontoon boat that was pulling the two kids behind it. Why he wouldn't have stayed away from the boat and the kids is impossible for me to fathom.
  22. The address is correct, but that's not next door to the Wearhouse, which I thought had closed, anyway.
  23. Aw, thanks. And I agree - this information should have been released earlier on more public media than the DDS website. It isn't the first time it's happened and - mark my words - it won't be the last. If there are good reasons things are handled that way, I've never heard 'em.
  24. I can hazard a guess: First of all, those of you who guessed lack of preparedness on the part of the public are correct. If I had a nickel for every time someone argued with me or complained or whined over what s/he needed for [x] transaction, I would be rich now. I have had people *refuse* to leave my counter to the point that I would move to another spot to keep working. Trapdoors would have solved that problem, but for some reason we couldn't talk the powers-that-be into that time-saving device. Secondly, the process *is* taking longer now. Examiners have many more screens
