  1. I have a few people on ignore. Like MarkDavd, I wish that meant we wouldn't see their topics, but I'll take what I can get.
  2. The best way to stretch your food is to prepare the plates in advance rather than set everything out buffet-style. If you scheduled the shower between a normal mealtime (say 2-4), you shouldn't be expected to give people what passes for lunch or dinner. I'd say a couple of different tea sandwiches, a few cheese straws (I love those!) and some mixed fruit would make an attractive plate. If there will be a cake or cupcakes, that should be quite enough.
  3. Summer is always the bleak season as far as TV goes. We're surviving on 'Castle' reruns and baseball. But 'Falling Skies' starts season 2 on Sunday!
  4. I hope the seats you wanted are still available. Parenthetically, I had no idea tickets were so expensive now! I checked out the website when you said you were having trouble with it, and yikes! $75 for a lower level seat! No wonder I'm seeing so many empty seats when I watch the games on TV.
  5. I'd have given up by now and gone to the Ticketmaster at Publix.
  6. Is your mother a diabetic? Neuropathy in the extremities can be a complication of diabetes. For that kind of problem, she should be seeing someone who specializes in vascular disease.
  7. Not I. I prefer gambling with tornadoes rather than living with the certainty of hurricanes.
  8. All the doctors there are board-certified in pulmonary medicine, but they all have specialties as well - you can go to their website and see who treats what.
  9. Have you already seen this? https://www.cnic.navy.mil/pensacola/FleetAndFamilyReadiness/HousingAndLodging/FamilyandUnaccompaniedHousing/index.htm
  10. AHEM. From my original post: (And for those of you who gave up special plates due to the expense ... this announcement is intended for those who are willing to give up some $$ in the name of boosting awareness. Please create your own thread for negative commentary. Thanks!)
  11. It's spread out over the school year. School systems are getting closer and closer to a year-round schedule - they're just doing it so slowly that people don't seem to recognize it.
  12. Donate Life Georgia needs 1000 applications submitted to qualify for the manufacture of the special plate. Donate Life Georgia license plate info (And for those of you who gave up special plates due to the expense ... this announcement is intended for those who are willing to give up some $$ in the name of boosting awareness. Please create your own thread for negative commentary. Thanks!)
  13. Mt. Tabor Park has a nice wooded trail and a small lake. White Oak Park is nice, too.
  14. Well, when I was involved in an accident at that intersection several years ago, it's because someone heading south on 92 attempted a left-hand turn onto Pine Valley. Would have worked, too, if I hadn't have been heading *north* and within about fifty feet of the intersection already. She admitted she had no idea what she was thinking when she turned in front of me.
  15. I use Kroger for my non-specialty meds. I've also used Publix before. I've gotten good service from both.
  16. So you would *deliberately* litter that section of road just because you don't agree with the viewpoint of the group pledged to clean it? Would you think it's OK for atheists to deliberately litter along stretches of road maintained by churches? Sheesh. To paraphrase Martin Luther King, Jr., you can't foil hate with hate - only love can do that.
  17. Prayers for all, including the 911 operator and the EMTs and law enforcement personnel who responded. They will tell you that their hardest calls involve children.
  18. Well, looking at it pragmatically, if this man has political aspirations, it would probably be cheaper and easier to get elected to an office in Paulding than in Cobb.
  19. You know what's *really* sad? The fact that these stories are all over TV and the Internet and there are STILL people who are signing up for loans and enrolling at so-called schools because they think they're 'smarter than those guys.'
  20. DugoutSC, may I suggest you add this info to your posts? Otherwise you're going to have to answer this question EVERY TIME.
  21. I wish Belinda would 'retire,' too - she gets on my nerves like there's no tomorrow. I like Herman Cain, but I hope that slot doesn't go all politics. You could count on Neal to at least occasionally discuss *other* topics in the news, even if they were on the frivolous side.
  22. Nope. When I'm invited to one of these pity parties, I send 'regrets' every time. And I don't buy into the idea that I should think these people are victims because they were 'lied to.' If this is the story I read last night, the guy said *himself* that the recruiter sounded like 'a used-car salesman,' with all the negativity that implies. He still signed on the dotted line. Reading between the lines, it sounds as if his parents are as fed up with his self-victimization as the rest of us. 'Nuff said.
  23. According to Clark Howard, what you want to do is pay off credit cards *but* keep the accounts open. Even though yours were straight loans and not credit cards, when you paid those loans off, you 'lost' those two sources of credit. If I had to guess, that's why your score went down. Of course, you could just call TransUnion and ask.
