  1. Yup. I have Amica, and though I know they're not the cheapest, I DO know they're the best as far as customer service goes. Sometimes you just have to accept that saving a few $$ isn't the best way to go.
  2. I've never called my insurance company if I wasn't at fault, either. If he wasn't at fault and wasn't charged, it won't be on his DDS driving record. OTOH, when you file a claim, fault or not, insurance companies *do* take that information into account when calculating premiums.
  3. From what I saw on the news last night, the spokesman from PCSO said they came to serve a warrant. Because he went on to say they were waiting on a *search* warrant for the *residence*, I assume the original warrant was an ARREST warrant for an individual or individuals.
  4. I haven't seen this link yet, so: http://www.ajc.com/news/news/crime-law/drug-bust-leads-to-shooting/nSf83/ Be sure you read the *entire* article.
  5. Not I. As soon as public schools were forced to try to be all things to all people, they were doomed to failure. I know that many folks will disagree with me, but there are some situations where 'special needs' children need to be in a 'special' school. It has nothing to do with discrimination and everything to do with making sure they get the customized attention they need to learn.
  6. I saw it on the TV news last night, and yes - it was in Paulding County. Ha - it's coming on the noon news right now, as a matter of fact. Anyway, I'm sick of people calling the news stations and making their personal grievances sound like 'news' stories. If this woman has a problem with the school, let her take it up with the school. From what I heard, her son was not abused - he was having a tantrum and he was *restrained*.
  7. Ate there once, wouldn't go back if they moved in next door.

And catching up with all of his Paulding County relatives of whom he was so proud.
  9. And right now, at least, it's a shorter walk to park *behind* the courthouse, because they're using a back door to enter and begin the process. That may change if the lines get shorter, but it's what they were doing today.
  10. Went and voted today. I guess I should have waited a week or so. The line was long but moved fairly quickly - probably took a little over an hour. They have twelve voting machines at this time.
  11. Prayers for Johnny and his family. Hospice care can be a great blessing - please make the most of every day!
  12. I was a *kindergarten* dropout and still managed to be an A and B student all the way through college. Parents who work with their kids at home can prepare them quite adequately for 'real' school without the assistance of pre-k programs. That includes 'socialization,' BTW.
  13. I think this needs some clarification. The only way this question makes sense is if you have in your possession a trailer that you *suspect* is stolen.
  14. I am a child of the '60s, and my mother spanked. My sister and I got one - occasionally two - verbal warnings, and if we persisted in acting out, we got spanked. In public, too, if that's where we were acting out. We knew what would happen if we disobeyed because there was a set order and escalation to the rebukes. I think a HUGE part of today's disciplinary problems with children lies not so much with the *method* of punishment as its lack of consistency. How many times have you been 'trapped' in a public place with a parent and a kid where the kid is pushing his/her boundaries and th

  16. Did anyone, including Pubby, ever 1 - Call the school or 2 - Call the SO's non-emergency number? I guess not, because there's so much more entertainment value in speculation and/or believing an uncorroborated 'report' by an alleged 'student.'
  17. 1 - Call the school. or 2 - Call the sheriff's office NON-emergency number.
  18. Be aware that you will need an up-to-date library card and a PIN to log into the system. My card is fairly new (I think I got it last year), but I don't have a PIN, so I'll need to go to the library and get one.
  19. I'm so sorry, Glenn - prayers for her.
  20. It's pretty easy for overweight kids to appear and act healthy. The problems begin later, when they start exercising less and the extra weight begins to take its toll on their bodies.
  21. I haven't seen this posted yet, so .... Paulding County Early / Advance Voting Information Tuesday, November 6, 2012 General Election: 10/15/2012 - 11/02/2012 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Days: M,Tu,W,Th,F Board of Elections and Registration Watson Government Complex, First Floor 240 Constitution Blvd. Dallas, GA 30132 10/29/2012 - 11/02/2012 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Days: Tu,Th Board of Elections Extended Hours Watson Government Complex, City of Dallas & Hiram 240 Constitution Blvd Dallas, G
  22. I agree re. her husband. However, even peritoneal dialysis (which is almost certainly what she is on, since it mentioned 12-hr. nightly treatments) is very draining on the body. My husband did that for eighteen months, and while he worked part-time, there were days when he would have to call in because his fluid balance was off and he was weak and nauseated. Believe me, nothing is easy when it comes to renal failure and dialysis.
  23. As I posted on FB, the pro refs must be laughing their @$$es off. Next time the referees decide they're not satisfied with their contracts, I guess the NFL will just suspend the season until all parties come to an agreement. Not.
  24. My husband and I have a deal: He keeps his beard, I won't divorce him. I don't get a tattoo, he won't divorce me. This has worked well for us for 20+ years.
