  1. If we're going to talk about stupidity, one could argue that since marijuana is ILLEGAL, it's stupid to smoke it *any* time.
  2. He was also charged with possession of marijuana, which could make the DUI charge easier to make stick.
  3. I don't disagree with you, but before it appeared here it ran in the newspaper and on TV. I just find it odd that someone found it newsworthy enough to publish it in the AJC and run it on WSB-TV. What purpose was served by *that*?
  4. We have two joyous anniversaries in our house, both in February: our wedding anniversary (the 29th) and my husband's transplant anniversary (the 19th). As for sad anniversaries, I guess we don't have any that we dwell on.
  5. Congrats on the job prospect, Subby - I know this is a huge relief to you. Good luck with it!
  6. I hope all goes well for him - directing traffic is one of the most dangerous things someone can do.
  7. The orthodontist that my sister and I used wouldn't even consider putting braces on a child until all the adult teeth were in, for that very reason. I think his only exception to that was if there was a problem with the bite or jaw alignment - it was years ago, and I don't remember all the details. Anyway, I got mine on right before ninth grade and got them off right before eleventh.
  8. I've grown less compassionate as I've grown older. It seems to me as if most people deserve what happens to them, or at least bring it on themselves - the whole actions-have-consequences thing. I feel the most compassion for those whose tragedies are unrelated to who they are or anything they did. OTOH, I believe that one should never feel regret for compassionate feelings, even if the object of those feelings is discovered to be 'unworthy.'
  9. And the moral of the story is: don't give gift cards, give cash.
  10. If you'll go to the post in question and click on 'Report,' I believe that will flag it for a moderator - makes it a lot easier on them.
  11. AJC.com is reporting the girl's name, so apparently her family has been notified.
  12. Very good advice! I have the M-Edge Latitude cover for mine, which has an elastic pocket on the front for the power cord. Love it!
  13. Hmm ... so if God blessed them with NO children, I wonder what she'd think. Seriously, if one or more of the Duggar kids turned out to have fertility issues, I wonder if he/she/they would be willing to adopt then (?) If you truly believe that children are a blessing from God, doesn't it follow that ALL children are a blessing, whether you made them or not?
  14. I got a slice there once and wasn't impressed. The toppings all fell off as I was trying to eat it - maybe that's because of how they had to make it, I don't know. My sister and nephews love it, though.
  15. Actually, the OP wrote about 'women of color.' For ME, in this politically correct world, that could be *any* race except white. Seems to me that YOU are the one who assumed she was speaking of *black* women. Now, what would have caused you to do that, I wonder???
  16. If they had chosen to ADOPT 19 children, I would have seen them as heroes. There are people who do just that, and I admire them more than I can say. To *make* 19 babies, even if you can support them, is SELFISH. Period.
  17. Au contraire - sounds as if it would make a great homeless shelter.
  18. I posted it to my Facebook page. I wish her well!
  19. I still think they're selfish as the day is long. It is crazy to *make* that many babies when there are children already HERE who need loving homes. Spay and neuter, for God's sake!
  20. This was my comment on the CNN page of Facebook: I'm not a fan of Dr. Laura, but she was absolutely correct about the use of the word 'nig.ger.' [Period inserted to foil the P.com filter.] It is hypocritical to say that a word is acceptable when voiced by one race but not any others. A definition of a word does not alter depending on who says it. Furthermore, it is both laughable and pathetic when so-called 'professional' news agencies use the phrase 'the N-word.' If they want to bleep it, fine. If they want to treat it as a vulgarity that cannot be spoken on the air, fine. But do
  21. One of the first P.commers, Quasimodem, speaks German fluently. He still has family in Germany. I don't know if he lurks here any more - I haven't seen him post in a VERY long time, but you could always send him a PM and see if he responds. And congrats on trying to learn something new! Exercising your brain keeps it young.
  22. Ah, they thought you wanted to *donate* them.
