  1. As said, it all depends on a child's maturity. I think 9 is the age where a child can be left for an hour or two, then it goes up from there. This is what I was told at the last meeting I atteneded that it was discussed.
  2. The only snakes we have seen are the ones we lovingly refer to as our "yard snakes". We live back in the woods and it was a constant battle with field mice in our garage..and a couple of times inside. After our first winter here, we ran across a rat snake while doing yard work. We put him under our house, in the crawl space, for a free buffet..haha Every year we catch sight of a couple of rat snakes right around the base of our house. My first sighting this year was in the garage. I was going to my car and he was in the shade beside it. I told him to go back out and play and he turned a
  3. Thank God! Absolutely not, this is just the beginning of putting everything back together.
  4. Hah..anyone know how to break this down into a "usable" recipe? I would love to try and make them, if so. I don't think even my kids and all their friends could eat up 10,000 cookies.
  5. Maybe they should have said they aren't hiring "anymore". There are so many people looking for jobs and I'm sure the response to this posting alone would have/could have filled any available positions that were being offered.
  6. The WalMart on Dallas Hwy has a bin for plastic bottles, according to the door greeter there. She was letting everyone who came out with waters and sodas know a week or so ago.
  7. Mine are 20, 18, 14,and 14 They always hung out in the kitchen to help stir, or measure..whatever. I don't recall an actual age that I let them cook. It was just when they were ready for it. I would let them stir something until it boiled, or check for doneness in the oven for me. Little things like that until I was comfortable with them doing it all themselves. My oldest daughter and youngest son aren't big cooks, but my 20 yr old son can cook like crazy! He has been able to throw stuff together that sounds crazy, until you taste it, since he was in 6th or 7th grade. My 14 yr old daug
  8. Everything looked fine when I went through there this morning at appr. 8am. There was a couple of places the kids thought they saw some charring. I just wish someone could've let me know about it before I drove my big ole bus down there and had to back it out to an accessible driveway.
  9. Sevin dust or 20 mule team borax? Those used to be the old stand bys for fleas when I was a kid. Daddy would sprinkle it out and leave it. Our basement was unfinished. The only things down there were washer/dryer and his work shop.
  10. Many thoughts and prayers for all of the families and lives touched by this. Not just today, but for strength and understanding in the many months and years to come.
  11. I am soooo glad I got here today and found out what went on! My laptop is sooo messed up. My hubby tried to figure what happened, but couldn't. If you guys have an idea of what needsto be done to get this thing cleaned out of it, please let me know. I will try to get back on here to check any updates. Thanks!
  12. I absolutely LOVE him...as long as he is on MY side..LOL
  13. We had a college student come by our home last year. I was shocked that he had so much info on our neighbors, but was also impressed with the materials he was selling. We did wind up purchasing some of the books and the SAT prep material. My kids love them.
  14. There used to be a website that listed all of the local kids consignment weekend sales..bargain watchers or something similar. I have participated in a couple of them, several years ago. I think I got 70% of selling price most of the time. It is more up front work by tagging and hanging the clothes, but well worth it in the end.
  15. I FINALLY have Granny's green beans down, my fried chicken is about as good, my coconut cake and peach cobbler is comparable, but I CAN NOT for the life of me make a good biscuit! I spent many years in her kitchen and around her house growing up, but never learned how to can or put up veggies and fruits. When she canned, she used a pressure cooker and kept me ran out when it was going. I guess i was so tired from helping her prepare everything for the canning/freezing process that when she let me go play, I took off at a run..lol My Daddy is an awesome cook and I have mastered (and impro
  16. Acuvue Oasys is what my daughter wears also and loves them. Hers are not daily disposables though.
  17. I remember seeing a sign that had: Freschetta Pizzas 3.99 1 Gallon milk 1.99 Cantaloupe 1.48 Kroger bacon 2/5.00 That's all I can remember off the top of my head, sorry. southernsavers.com may have it listed on her site.
  18. Those same statements jumped out at me, also. I just don't understand how this prisoner was allowed to marry and continue a life (even fathering a child) behind bars. While I understand life behind bars is no picnic, that's the decision he made for himself when he acted as he did. "You do the crime, you do the time.." Hello!?!? Yet the man that he murdered never had the chance to father a child. It all sounds screwed up to me. Oh yeah, let's lock the man up for killing another man, then let's let his woman in so he can have his fun...bull crap! I am more incensed over that than the fac
  19. I found a website with lots of recipes for bread machines..Hope it helps! http://allrecipes.com//Recipes/bread/bread-machine/Main.aspx
  20. Ok, thanks! Maybe the folks who bought a New Era with an insert will let us know which stores have them. =)
