  1. The search is part of the adventure at McKays. I love finding surprises in the wrong place and all that . We also love The Book Shelter, we send folks there, and they to us. Also The Book House in Mableton. Good people. We booksellers tend to stick together .
  2. I shared this on FB so I wanted to share here as well. She was so precious.
  3. So sad, so young and so precious. I've been friends with Jennifer (the aunt) and David (the paternal grandfather) for years, wonderful people. I know they are all just devastated. This just breaks my heart. Also, if you don't mind my adding this, Jen posted it on her page yesterday: Please send any donations to J. Collins funeral home in Villa Rica. Make the checks out to J. Collins and put for Kylie Grace. Anything is greatly appreciated as they weren't prepared for this. The address is and information: J. Collins Funeral Home & Cremation Service 206 South Carroll Road
  4. Yep, I am right there with you . That is the reason I think 50 may be the one birthday to give me pause...that and the fact that it is the half century mark, lol
  5. Okay guys, 40 is NOT old . Y'all are cracking me up! My husband will be 50 this year and like TJB, I'm turning 46 .
  6. Yes!!!! I think we must be sisters from another mother . But this is awesome, and not 'bad' 80s fashion .
  7. I bet you feel better now with all of us 'old folks' putting things in perspective for you . Seriously, I hope you had a happy birthday . I have yet to have one that gave me pause, I think 50 might do it for me, but we will see. lol
  8. I was not ever booted out, I left on my own at 18. BUT I 'Booted Out' my 23 year old son 2 weeks ago...it is still kind of breaking my heart.
  9. If they are biting you a regular intake of garlic (oil) pills will stop that, stat...also helps with fleas, and mosquitoes and I am not even playing . We fed them to our Dane. He never had an issue with ticks, fleas, biting flies etc. We had a farm with every animal imaginable and Silver never had a problem.
  10. Happy Birthday, young'un !!!!!!!
  11. I had a TON of friends dying their hair black to match our clothing in those days. fingernails and lips too. Early days of 'goth'. You are only a tad bit older than me, and I think we hung in two totally different crowds. Especially if you thought daisy dukes and cowboy boots were cute, I even hated that look in the 70's. Robert Smith, anyone? I know I love you ...
  12. I was just thinking the same thing. Sounds like he is dealing with two children in that situation and not one. ???
  13. Checking in and still thinking of this family,so heavy on my heart. No parent should ever have to outlive a child. I cannot imagine, and hope I never have to.
  14. My thoughts are with them. How horrible .
  15. I'm sorry for your loss , Dana. I do cherish every moment I have with her. She was diagnosed with liver disease a few years ago , we do understand her health is not as it should be. I dread the thought of being without her.
  16. Yeah, run. My closest girlfriend and I have been best friends for 33 years, we are more sisters at this point than friends. It is very hard to be friends with girls, especially 'catty' girls. I have several girlfriends here from the board, a few who have commented on this thread. They aren't catty bitches. At the first sign of that drama, I will drop you like a stone. Women are goddesses, and the sooner we figure that out and quit trying to tear each other apart...the better off we will be.
  17. I haven't read any of the other posts so I don't know what type of responses you received. She does need some type of help. Anger is very much a part of depression. My 23 year old son has dealt (and us with him) dire clinical depression. He is under care, and medication has helped...tremendously. It saved his life, literally.
  18. That is on of the reasons I NEVER turn on the IM . I do the same thing with religious (in particular) and political posts. I don't mind a few 'inspirational' (not really to me, lol) or whatever kind of posts...but I have a friend in Pennsylvania that would post twenty a day and it would fill up my newsfeed. I simple hid all but 'important' posts. I sincerely love this person, and want to know what is going on in their life but I couldn't handle the barrage, and if it makes them happy to post it, I am certainly not going to respond negatively. So, hiding worked much better, it just me
  19. I think it will eventually. Just as racism has fallen largely to the wayside. The old bigots eventually die off. Let's hope so, anyway .
  20. It's not 'schtick' until they have equality in ALL states, and that most certainly is not the case.
