  1. Just walk the French Quarter. You don't have to have plans. Stop in a few of the small cafes and try their local dishes. Go to the Riverwalk and listen to the different jazz and blues street bands. The French Market is also a great place to spend some time. Just enjoy it, that is what Nola is all about!
  2. Yes we always had Sunday dinner at my Grandparent's house. It was wonderful too. We ate together as a family every night but I remember lots of arguing and fighting happening at the table. When we were at my grandma's though, everything was always peaceful, and the food was AWESOME! I miss her everyday.
  3. I think somewhere in my 30's. My 40's though have brought me more clarity. I do not like the drama anymore that young people seem to thrive on. I need peace. I also enjoy a day of staying home doing nothing. I used to think my mom was crazy that she did not want to go anywhere on the weekend.
  4. I have wondered this and even asked the same question here myself. The best I can figure is that it is easier for people to be mean or say what they are thinkng in the form of a message board than it is face to face. I have also noticed that some people seem to really like the drama of a good debate. I have always been one to avoid conflict. It makes me crazy even when it is one here. But I have to say that the friendly debate is fun from time to time as long as it doesn't get nasty. And it really is much better here than it was several years ago.
  5. If you like STRONG coffee...Emeril's Big Easy If you like smooth coffee...Donut Shop If You like a strong and smooth coffee...Folger's Black Silk If you like flavored coffee...Well, I like lots of them but the Kahlua is really good. I change my coffee often. I tend to like the Green Mountain coffees. Make sure you register your Keurig at keurig.com. You will get a code for 2 free boxes of coffee when you buy 2. Also they WILL replace your Keurig is anything happens within the first year.
  6. I love Dr. Seuss. I used to work in an elementary library and we had Dr. Seuss week every year. I read his bio "Oh the Places He Went". He was quite a character himself. Anyways, if you read some of his other biographies you will find that he was very much against his books being made into movies. He wrote the Grinch especially for a movie and a couple of others too, but he did not want his other creations made into movies because they change them too much. Since he died, his second wife (quite a story there too), has been selling the rights of his books to movie companies. I always fe
  7. If he passed it at school he is one tough little guy. The best thing he can do to help prevent more stones is drink lots of water. It may not stop him from ever having another one but the kidneys don't tend to produce stones if they stay flushed.
  8. My son had RSV when he was about six months old. We went to the doctor and or the emergency room 15 times in 17 days. Unlike your baby he was not playing and eating much. Finally we went to another doctor and he was immediately hospitalized. I am not trying to cause you to panic. Like I said my son would not eat and play, but if he conitnues to cough you might want a third opinion.
  9. Is that is the little shopping area in Dallas where the movie theatre used to be?
  10. I have a question for you LPPT. I hav a sleep number bed and it has the sual controls so that hubby and I can set our own number. The problem is that the middle ofthe bed, between the two sides, is like a dip that we keep rolling into. Do you have that problem? I have thought about getting a memory foam topper to see if that helps. Where do you get sheets that are deep enough to fit the mattress with the topper on it? My sheets already come off at night.
  11. One of my teacher friends is in his first year in Bangkok, Thailand. The pay is about twice as much as he was making here. They set him up in a furnished home, in a gated community, with a housekeeper and cook all included. He also has a very small class load. I think he told me 12 students. The tuition for this school is almost 25,000.00 per year so not many can afford it. They take elaborate field trips. He is young and single and having a great time. There is no way to compare that to PC Schools.
  12. "Damn, we're in a tight spot!" George Clooney in Oh Brother Where Art Thou
  13. Without a doubt the Harry Potter series is my ALL TIME favorite. There are actually 8 movies but one story so I will count them as one. After than it is hard to say but: The Help- loved the book and the movie Beauty and the Beast- favorite animated movie Tombstone- favorite (very quotable) western Titanic
  14. I don't know. I can remember having my cocker put doen a few years ago, and she was old and sick, so it was best. The sadness and guilt that followed were overwhelming. I think some people are just more sensitive than others.
  15. You're right. When I get pissy at home my kids know because I will say, "I'm coming...and Hell's coming with me." I usually don't watch westerns but this is absolutely one of my favorite movies of all time.
  16. "I will not be pawed at" "You're no daisy Johnny, you're no daisy at all." "I have two guns, one for each of you." "Very cosmopolitan." "Yes, but there's just something about him. Something around the eyes, I don't know, reminds me of... me. No. I'm sure of it, I hate him." "Why Ike, whatever do you mean? Maybe poker's just not your game Ike. I know! Let's have a spelling contest!" "It's true, you are a good woman. Then again, you may be the antichrist." I could go on forever. Val Kilmer's best role EVER.
  17. "You is kind. You is smart. You is important." Aibelene, from The Help And everything Doc Holiday says in the movie Tombstone.
  18. It is easy for me to say family because my hubby is the main bread winner at our house. It would be hard for him to pick though because his job is what feeds, clothes and houses his family.
  19. Thank you for asking this question. I recently started a new job in my new career. Although it is a decent job it is quite a drive for me and I am only working on an as needed basis. I have been sending resumes to closer places with full time positions. On the online appllications there is a question, "May we contact your current employer?" I always check "no" but I am afraid that makes me look bad to the place I am applying.
  20. You being asked to take them off site...of course...
  21. Yep...here we go...I'll own it though. One spanking is worth a thousand time outs.
  22. EXACTLY!!! :clapping: I know it sucks to have to get up and leave a restaurant because your kid is not behaving. BUT...it is YOUR kid and you should take him/her out and deal with them. It may ruin your dinner but it is not fair to ruin dinner for an entire restaurant of people so that you can finish yours. What most parents don't understand is that you may have to do this once or possibly twice, but once your child knows that if he/she doesn't act right in public they will be punished, their behavior is much better. Same goes for spanking. I know this is an unpopular subject but
  23. I did not make a resolution to lose weight but I certainly want to. I have started a new job and I have lost around 5 lbs in 3 weeks. I am walking more and eating less, nothing else.
  24. My very first PCOm post when we moved here many years ago was about my husband and I going to O'charley's to have dinner together. During our dinner there was a table by us with 6-7 kids under the age of 8. All of them fighting screaming and running around. I suggested in my post that they should take their kids to a more family oriented restaurant (one that does not have a bar) if their children were going to behave that way.. I GOT SLAMMED!!! People were responding with O'Charley's is family friendly and maybe my husband and I should find somewhere else to eat. What this told me is
