  1. There seems to be no discipline or accountability for anything kids do these days. I am afraid that this kind of thing will continue until our society stops focusing so much on self esteem and feelings and gets back to teaching respect, character and discipline. I read that the guns used were legally purchased and registered by the shooters parents. I don't understand that either. I am not anti-gun but I do believe that assault weapons are not something that should be so easily available. I don't want to seem as if I am blaming the victim since his mother is one of the dead, but I don't u
  2. Well...things are working. Not as well as I want all the time. I have learned over the years that I can change my attitude by changing my inner dialogue. When I find myself feeling down and/or negative about my life I make a conscious effort to think of the good things in my life. I really do have a lot of them. My mind just tends to focus on the problems I have and often sidetracks me from thinking about how good I really have it. It is amazing how a person's thought can dictate their day, their life and even their health.
  3. My internal dialogue has always been critical. Not so much of others, mostly myself. I am "blessed" with OCD tendencies that are forever fighting with what I know is realistic. In other words, no matter what I do and how many comliments I receive my internal view always finds my flaws and imperfections. The problem with this is that I don't look at other people and immediately see their flaws and imperfections so my mind is constantly comparing me to what I perceive in others. I am a right brained person so I have always been artistic. I have painted murals, done wedding cakes, created ba
  4. I bake and decorate also and I have to agree with your aunt. If it is the buttercream stuff covering the cake I call it frosting. But when I decorated cookies with the thin stuff I call it icing. I don't know if that's correct but it is what I say.
  5. Here is my take...Zimmerman should not have been following Martin. Martin should have just left without fighting. No one should have been shot. And I don't know why everyone is being snarkey with the Postman.
  6. I went to the dite and regitstered but I couldn't figure out how to use it. Oh well...
  7. My son just came in and told me that we have some drama up the road. A couple of ambulances and a couple of police cars. I am not usually nosey but since it is right up the road from me I am quite curious. I don;t know how to find the scanner online. It is on Bethel Dr. jn New GA.
  8. I love the Grinch. (The cartoon version only! The Jim Carrey movie is awful) Love Rudolph and It's a Wonderful Life too. A more modern one that I really like is The Santa Clause. And finally I will give an honorable mention to Fred Claus...mainly because I really like Vince Vaughn.
  9. It was asuch a good thing that he did. I think it is sad that compassion is so rare that when we see it we celebrate it like a new discovery. We could all use a bit more compassion in our lives.
  10. I think the majority of people under the age of 25 fit the title "arrogantly entitled".
  11. I would go to the Brighton Store at the Avenue at West Cobb. It is just a ferw miles down 120 and they have a great selection. I bought my mother in law some jewelry there a couple of weeks ago. I have a Pandora bracelet that my husband bought me but I have some Brighton charms on it because I really like their selection...and price. I don't know the price of the bracelet itself but the charms are around $10 each. Pandora charms are at least 3x that much and the Brighton quality is just as good in my opinion.
  12. I just bought my 3 "must have black friday" gifts online for the same price as they would hbave been in the stores with free shipping. I suggest checking online sales before going out if fighting the crowds is not your thing.
  13. I don't think you have NPD, Postman. I told you before I think you display signs of asperger syndrome. Either way, you are who you are. Embrace it.
  14. Am I the only one who is wondering how a boy that is 6 feet 1 inch tall and 180 pounds got out that bus window? That could not have been easy...or quick.
  15. Legalize it...Farm it...tax it. Jobs and tax revenue. I have never understood the argument.
  16. Next week if I have a few days off (fingers crossed) I am going to tackle the tree and decorating. Last year I was not in the spirit at all and I decided that this year I was going to REALLY decorate. I have some many pages pinned on Pinterest with Christmas decorations. I have not done much shopping yet though. Odd for me, because I usually shop all year so I don't have to do it all at once.
  17. I am just shaking my head. It is no wonder so many people have lost faith in law enforcement.
  18. Sounds like a freak accident to me. Personally, I would not have thought twice about taking my kids out on a day like this. I would hate to think I would get in trouble for taking a kid outside on a windy day and having a freak accident happen. So, I guess to answer your question...it takes a dumbass like me.
  19. Good question. When I worked in the school system with special needs (especially elementary) I had to restrain kids often. It was the nature of the class I worked in. I was sent to classes each year to learn and update my proper restraining techniques. There were only a handful of us who were trained initially and we were the only ones who could restrain. After a couple of years they started to train everyone who would be responsible for the special needs kids. It is not pretty and to the untrained eye it may even look like abuse but it really is supposed to only be used when the child is
  20. I can't think of any scary movies that are "favorites" but for Halloween I like The Nightmare Before Christmas and I just watched Dark Shadows and enjoyed that one too.
  21. I am so sorry Mrs. Hammett for the loss of your husband. It is very tragic no matter what the circumstances were. I can't imagine how traumatizing it must be to have this happen in your home. My thoughts are with you.
  22. My husband is a huge fan of the Columbia brand fishing type shirts with the flap on the back. I just hate them!!! Don't get me wrong, they are nice looking and I am sure they are comfy with the breathable material they are made of but they come out of the dryer looking like a shar pei dog. It takes forever to iron them and that nice comfy flap in the back makes them even more a a pain. When I get them out of the dryer they hang on my "to be ironed" rack for several days (okay sometimes weeks) because that is how bad I hate ironing. I feel your ironing pain!! I would gladly drop them off
  23. I agree. Just because I can afford to pay full price does not mean that I should.
