  1. Give Jennifer at The Regal Beagle a call and explain.....Also, Designer Dog - I've stayed many times with my big one - who, no matter where you take her away from home shakes from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail the entire time - and she's too big for me to be able to do myself.
  2. That's where a FAMILY is supposed to step in. And, before you ask - yes, my husband and I have stepped in to care for a family member's kids as have two of my cousins who one has adopted their grandchildren, one has legal guardianship. The focus should be on the children and stop enabling the adults. With the amount of assistance out there - 1000's of non profits - along with the government support - what is left of family structure in the US is being given over to the "support system" of the states/federal.
  3. Yep, that's the one....i know how to post the link above but not a pic.

  6. Florida is trying. Of course, the ACLU is fighting it. My link I wish the ACLU would put 1/4 of their effort into helping the illegal immigrants and these who commit fraud of the system abide by the law instead of always fighting those who are simply trying to make things better for those of us who do abide by the law.
  7. My link The Journal Sentinel searched Facebook updates for terms associated with food assistance benefits, such as "Quest card," "EBT card," and "food stamps." The searches only turn up postings made by people who allow all Facebook users to view their posts rather than just their friends. It is impossible to know how many more postings occur behind privacy walls. The Journal Sentinel's review exposes another example of how easy it is to illegally sell the state-issued cards and their benefits - and how little concern those who do it have about getting caught. In April, the newspaper r
  8. In 3rd grade, kiddos front teeth began to grow very weirdly. Went to several orthodontists - Justice, Singleton, Conti, Farrar, Smith & Depew. Was, for the most part given the same options from all - either wait & he would lose teeth or use the expander then braces knowing we'd have braces twice - phase I and phase II - but we wouldn't lose any teeth. Being a kid who lost teeth to have braces when I was 12 - 14 (can't remember exactly) - I didn't want that for him. I've had issues due to not having those teeth. We went with Depew - wasn't the cheapest, wasn't the most expensive.
  9. Seriously - you don't see this as stealing? Walking into an establishment and taking something you haven't paid for? I know the markup on drinks is ridiculous - that's why I get water most of the time - but, I would NEVER take a cup and walk into an establishment and walk out without paying. Even with water. The restaurant pays a water bill. I would like to give benefit of the doubt that she had purchased the cup, drank it as she drove out and decided on a refill.
  10. OK....I really need to get a life today....I'm having an email argument with a writer at the AJC over the migrant workers and farms not being able to find workers. By the way, the Ga Dept of Labor list a gazillion jobs - what's the deal? However, his article specifically listed blueberry pickers, fruit & vegetable pickers and the Dept of Labor only shows 4 openings for blueberry pickers. Turning off Djokovich & Federer and heading to the pool!

  12. My link James Arness, the 6-foot-6 actor who towered over the television landscape for two decades as righteous Dodge City lawman Matt Dillon in "Gunsmoke," died Friday. He was 88. The actor died in his sleep at his home in Brentwood, Calif., according to his business manager, Ginny Fazer.
  13. I buy a lemon about once a month and feed it to my disposal. Or if oranges are getting soft,I feed them to the disposal. I wasn't home for a couple of days and my kiddo had cut the tops off of strawberries and put some bad grapes in the disposal along with some other things - emptying the cereal bowl, etc., but didn't turn the disposal on. Smelled it as soon as I cam thru the door. I poured febreeze in there and let it sit, then left a box of baking soda sitting in it. After about 1 hour of each, the smell was gone.
  14. Is anyone going to address the issue of why migrant workers make up to $200 per day, average $12.50 an hour, yet, we cannot find legal citizens to apply for these jobs? I guess it amazes me because I grew up on a small "working farm" - crops/chickens/turkeys/cows - all raised to support not only my family's dinner - but, to sell to support the family. Have we - in this short of time - I'm 49 - gotten so far away from hands on labor to make money?
  15. I don't think $12.50 an hour is anything to sneeze at. But, they can't find American workers. Why aren't college students filling this gap? Construction workers are used to being outside also. My link Stanley says experienced workers can earn as much as $200 a day. He says he's tried to hire locals to do the job — working in the fields eight hours or more clipping, bending and lifting in the oppressive Georgia heat. "They just don't want to do this hard work. And they'll tell you right quick," he says. "I have 'em to come out and work for two hours and they said, 'I'm not doing

  17. What has surprised me is 1) a subdivision on Kennesaw Due West that was abandoned. They started building homes in Sept of last year - they've sold all but one. And, another on Old Hamilton that's building/selling again. One on Burnt Hickory has 1 sold, a couple of pending on lots. These are in Cobb, but, still.
  18. The dish soap should be very diluted and should never be used during the daytime with direct sunlight to keep from burning the plant.....early morning or very late afternoon is the time to put any type of repellent on......My grandmother used dish soap also if she didn't have "rubbing alcohol". That she sprayed directly on the plants to get rid of aphids.
  19. Do a little research on the other countries - Britain & Canada, for instance - they are both in the middle of trying to reform. My link
  20. Great post! My perspective - I've worked in the insurance field - Allstate - many moons ago. I have a question - ok - insurance companies pay claims from the money received from consumers for premiums. They pay differing amounts to providers/facilities based on what the provider/facility & insurance company has negotiatiated for the group of consumers (and there are many factors in those negotiations). The insurance company also pays lawsuits/fines/etc. from those premiums. Along with their overhead for their employees/advertising/buildings/taxes,etc. - oh, you know, business ex
  21. Insurance companies are "ramping up" for the changes to come. I'll go back thru my research and find that, but here is a link to what's happening this first year. My link Within the first year • Young adults will be able stay on their parents' insurance until their 26th birthday. • Seniors will get a $250 rebate to help fill the "doughnut hole" in Medicare prescription drug coverage, which falls between the $2,700 initial limit and when catastrophic coverage kicks in at $6,154. • Insurers will be barred from imposing exclusions on children with pre-existing conditions. 22. Had surgery in January. I have a $5800 deductible. Kennestone automatically mailed me an application for Community Financial Aid thru Patient Financial Services. I never filled it out because we know we have this deductible and we intend to pay it all - I set up a payment plan thru the hospital. But, I'm holding this financial aid thing right now. It says: We are providing you an application for our Wellstar Community Financial Aid Program. The program provides financial assistance on hospital bill(s) for our patients who meet the income/resource guidelines. When I set up the p
  23. I think the insurance companies are playing some games with the premiums trying to ramp up for upcoming changes. Hers's an interesting article: Insurers will have to start spending more of their income on health care. Insurers have traditionally called the portion of their premium income they spend on health care their “medical-loss ratio,” because to them a dollar spent on your health care is a loss to their profit margin. Some plans, especially for individuals, have had medical-loss ratios as low as 55 percent, according to Sondra Roberto, a Consumer Reports attorney who works
