  1. 10 years ago, our states weren't going bankrupt, our schools weren't suffering under budget cuts, our unemployment wasn't 10%. In better times, I might not have noticed everything that I have. Right now, if we're busting butt to cut back and save, then I expect our tax dollars to be used wisely....
  2. This is why I ask to see the "licensed, insured & bonded" paperwork. I educated myself to know what they were supposed to look like. In the case of large jobs, I ask for a copy to have with my estimate. My husband used to think I was crazy - BUT - I have a friend who always wanted to help people out and was always hiring drive bys to do work. He was burned once by shoddy work, burned again by damage done by one of these groups and they didn't have insurance and he didn't want to bother with small claims court, then, the big one - someone fell while repairing/cleaning gutters. Was sued
  3. As I follow the state of our schools - not only in Georgia, but across the nation - furloughs, cutbacks, 4 day weeks, etc - I find these two articles very disturbing - convicted teachers still on the payrolls story another link
  4. So, i'm not the only one ticked off about all this.....why don't we all do something? At least EMAIL our congressman/representative? I'm gonna do that right now!
  5. Red Top Lodge @ Red Top Mountain used to have a great Sunday brunch then we'd walk the trails....don't know if they do any more, but, different, not as crowded.
  6. I agree with the commercials on tv - just not the money spent on the Super Bowl ad. Then, last week - the nail salon girls having all the freebies on display (which resulted in my new account) and my hubby looking up and finding the 11 tractor trailer sized things running around the country handing out free things, then the sponsorship on Greg Biffles car this past Sunday at AMS - OK......now, today, I get a letter telling me that I'll be receiving the census. Isn't this just a little overkill????
  7. We had window tint installed in our last home and now in this home. In our last home, we had it done our 3rd summer there and the first month, our power bill went down by almost $100. We used a professional company because our neighbors had done their own and it looked horrible. At the new house, my husbands office is in the loft room. As soon as spring hit, he told me to call them out. We put a thermometer in his office and within 1 hour of them finishing, his room had dropped 9 degrees. He doesn't like curtains or blinds to "cover his view".

  9. I just spit Pepsi all over my MacBook!
  10. I'm no prude - wasn't a perfect kid either. I see a huge difference in "back in the day" (I'm not THAT old) and today. My last gyno appt (aren't y'all really glad I set up my own account and not posting under hubby now!) - anyway, my last gyno appt, there were two pregnant teens in the waiting room with their moms. The girls were friends, due withing 3 weeks of each other. I swear-you would have thought the moms were pregnant instead of the kids - talking about how wonderful this was gonna be to be grandmas together, how sweet it would be to have the babes around the house, etc. The girl
  11. Look up the Eastern Wood Pee Wee and see if that looks right. Pictures are really close enough to tell, but you got a good look yourself, sooooo......Let me know what you think.
  12. No.....sorry.....he asked me figure out what my old account name was and get the password sent to me and change it....
  13. I had an appointment on Friday.....As I walked to the door and saw the wreath - In Memory to Bill - I started crying......This man was SO wonderful during my pregnancy and during my labor 7 years ago. He was on duty when I arrived at the hospital in labor. He was incredible. I've relived his care many times to expectant moms and friends as we've shared our labor stories. He will always be a part of the greatest moment of my life - the birth of my only child. I wish I had a way of telling his wife the wonderful and sometimes humourous stories of their life that he told during exams and my
