  1. tears rolling down my face - hubby laughing his tail end off, too. Thanks! Now I know where to add some of the goofball things my phone has "autocorrected"
  2. Small hijack....Fioricet is the only thing that touches my migraines....ask your doc if you could try that...
  3. Story from Acworth yesterday morning: My link Undercover Patient Finds Pills Easy To Get From Cherokee Pain Clinic In November, a clinic in Chamblee charged our undercover patient more than $200 cash for an appointment with Doctor Vitaliy Gavrikov. Gavrikov required the patient provide previous medical records including an MRI but he never actually examined the patient himself. Gavrikov prescribed a powerful and potentially addictive painkiller known as hydrocodone. The office suddenly moved before the undercover patient's follow-up exam. In February, CBS Atlanta found Gavr
  4. I quit. I hope and pray that none of you find out the truth how I've found it out. With someone I love with all my heart addicted to Oxycontin and getting it so easily and having your family ripped apart. Conning elderly family members out of cash to pay for the doctors appointment, stealing and pawing things to pay for these appointments, having elderly upset when you try to tell them to stop - well, it's their medicine, if it wasn't good for them, the doctors wouldn't prescribe it, seeing your beloved family member steal from parents/grandparents/siblings to get the money to go to the nex
  5. It should be nationwide, I agree. Florida approved a bill & had passed some legislation and yes, it's been in the news that they're working on it due to issues of patient privacy concerns. They're attacking the "pain clinics" in other ways which is running them north. I'll find my links to show where florida was beginning to implement some of their tracking. I'm glad you are reading and learning. I want people to learn about this. As long as you are doing the right thing, you don't see how easy it is for others to do the wrong thing.
  6. My link Nationwide, 43 states operate or are in the process of setting up a prescription monitoring database, according to The National Alliance for Model State Drug Laws. Supporters say the fact that Georgia is one of the few states that does not electronically track all prescriptions is making it a destination for doctors and dealers who cater to prescription drug abusers.
  7. Subby - are you reading my links? I swear to you - no better yet - call your pharmacist - just ask him. There is not a database linking the drug stores in georgia other than the chains. I've been to the capital and listened to the debates. Can you see where they've just passed the bill? It's not even a law yet and once the law is in effect, they expect to have 3 years before it's in effect. Do you not see what the articles are saying? Especially the last link I gave where the guy from Pooler introduced the bill??
  8. DING DING DING DING - YES!!!!!! CVS isn't tied to anything other than CVS - Kroger isn't tied to anything other than Kroger - Publix isn't tied to anything other than Publix, etc., etc.
  9. My link 2/25/11 he Georgia Senate recently passed the Patient Safety Act of 2011. Senator Buddy Carter (R-Pooler) authored the bill. He said it is designed to help doctors and pharmacists curtail the abuse of illegally prescribed drugs. "This is really aimed at trying to stop the pill mills we see that are popping up in the state of Georgia. Essentially these are rouge doctors who are setting up clinics for no other reason than financial gain," said Carter. "We actually had one this past year in Savannah and we've actually had one that opened this week in Garden City. What they
  10. Subby - you are going to the same drug store every time, correct????? Go to dr. smith, get prescription, go to kroger fill prescription. Go to dr. jones, get identical prescription, go to CVS, fill prescription. Kroger doesn't hook up to CVS.
  11. My link U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said recently that her office has opened investigations into several businesses following a rise in complaints. Prosecutors worry that Georgia is becoming a refuge for the mills now that other states, including Florida, have adopted enforcement measures such as electronic prescription-tracking systems.
  12. PLEASE read this - From 2/28/11 - I live this - I've tried so hard to save my family member until I found out I can't - they have to save themselves. My link Georgia is one of seven states that has yet to authorize a prescription database, and the only state in the South that hasn't done so, according to the Alliance of States with Prescription Monitoring Programs. Efforts over the years to create a database in Georgia have failed amid privacy concerns, but this year brings new hope to the program's advocates. I've written/called/attended hearings - WE ARE NOT TRACKING PRESCRIPT
  13. Yes, they were paying cash & in some cases, using the reduced prescription cards offered at some pharmacies if you have no insurance. They were running them thru with their disability insurance for a while and thru Medicaid for a short time.
  14. Yes, I agree with you. BUT, if you go to see multiple doctors and you have multiple prescriptions and you go to multiple pharmacies, bingo - there is no tracking. My family member was keeping a record of what pharmacy they went to on what date so they wouldn't go to the same one too often.
  15. My family member simply had their "patient records" from a doctor from 3 or 4 years ago, made appointments at "pain management clinics" (rotating between counties), paid $150 to $175 cash per appt, walked in, had weight/bp/temp checked, was asked to fill out a couple of pages of questions, was "examined" by the doc and asked what their level of pain was, was given a piece of paper recommending stretching exercises to stregthen muscles, and would walk out with either 90 days worth of oxycontin & sometimes valium or xanax or would walk out with the prescription for the above. They had "lift
  16. The article in the paper today (and others recently) quote officials as saying that prescription drug addiction has surpassed meth....
  17. Can you point me to where this is because Florida just passed the law requiring a database connecting drug stores to be able to track so that if you are using the same name you cannot buy too much of a prescription (of course, all you have to do is have fake ids to go along with your forged prescriptions). Georgia has no such database at this time. So, if the Feds have a database that alerts pharmacies - why isn't it being used in the states?
  18. Hmmmmm....take a kid to the pediatrician lately? My child was asked about guns in the home, seatbelt usage, smoke alarms in the home, eating habits, exposure to cigarette smoke, etc., etc., helmet when riding a bike
  19. This is why I laugh at those who say if we legalize what are illegal drugs now, we will resolve the problem. Obviously, many in our society are having a hard time handling the drugs that are legal.
  20. It's the same drugs over and over and over. My link "Prescription drug abuse has really reached epidemic proportions in Georgia," U.S. Attorney Sally Yates said. "Georgia has a particular problem now because we're one of only seven states in the country that does not have a prescription drug monitoring program. And so not only are our residents able to get these drugs very easily, we have folks coming from all over the country to Georgia to get prescription drugs for abuse." "In Florida, they passed a prescription drug monitoring program and they are just now in the process of impl
  21. Florida's Natural is all American,I'm pretty sure.
  22. I don't "go out looking" for Made in America. When I am shopping, the country does make a difference as to whether I purchase the item or not. If possible - meaning, if I have another option - I never buy Made in China - and, it's difficult. I have noticed WalMart is carrying more MiA items. America is making it a little easier by placing the made in America a little more prominent on packaging. I brought up the subject of meat items about a year ago and was absolutely slammed by someone I don't see posting very often any longer - back when the laws were passed that meat packaged in certa
