  1. I've been avoiding opening this thread thinking it was political and had to do with a different kind of bond and the airport. I'm so sorry I did end up opening it. This story brings tears to my eyes each and every time I think about it. Now I have a clearer picture of what this poor kid went through and I just know I'm going to have nightmares over it. It is one of those issues I feel so helpless about and can consume me and literally lead me into depression. I hate thinking this goes on but I know that it does. I am sure there are kids I know and interact with who are suffering from abus
  2. What's done is done. It's already there so I feel we should make the best out of it that they can. If this is going to bring in revenue and create jobs I really don't understand why the majority of people aren't for it. I can understand why people are upset about the way it came about and I can also understand if the people who live near there are upset.
  3. I felt the same way when I first put on a pair of glasses as a twelve year old. I had felt guilty that my parents were spending money on an eye appt. I didn't need but when I put those glasses on I was shocked at what I could see. The thing that I still remember is being able to see the leaves on trees.
  4. South is having an amazing year and deserved the win but East needed this one a little more. At least if they had hopes of playing in the Post Season. I think even if South had lost they still would have gone far in the post season (and will). I can't wait to see the highlights.
  5. East lost 24-17. They apparently were 2nd and goal a minute or so ago but couldn't pull it off. I wasn't there but it sounds like it was a good game. Congrats to South.
  6. Only three minutes of peace and joy! Oye, we've got this. Thanks for the updates.
  7. Just read on FB that East is leading 17 - 10 ! Woo Hoo!!
  8. In my head I hear Monica of Friends saying "This just got interesting!". Not that is wasn't before but it just got even more interesting
  9. Thanks, my husband thought the game started at 7:00 and is heading up for the second half. I'm just not as patient as he is and wondered .
  10. Thanks, when I posted this there weren't any updates. I debated just asking in that thread but figured I would get a quicker response starting a score thread since that one will pop up to the top when some one answers the poll and not necessarily when a new response is added.
  11. Would love to hear some scores. Especially for the East vs South game. Thanks!
  12. Thanks for the update. Please keep us posted.
  13. Beginning in January the company he works for is switching from the benefit plan they had before they were acquired by Darden. If they hadn't been we would still be entering the Open Enrollment period where plans are updated. I was just curious if the increase in cost was due to the change in companies or the new healthcare laws. I think it has more to do with the change in companies than the new laws. I thought someone from Darden would be able to shed light on if their costs are increasing or not. A few years back we had a high deductible plan and we tended to wait things out a bit b
  14. My husband works for a company that was bought by Darden ( a large company that owns Red Lobster, Longhorns, Olive Garden among a few other restaurants). The benefits package we have is amazing ($10 co-pay, $20 specialist, $4 prescriptions, well visits free, etc...) and the out of check cost is the lowest we've ever had ($38/ week covers health, dental, ortho, vision, life). Beginning in January we will fall under the Darden benefits and the prices are insanely higher not to mention there isn't a comparable package available. The closest package has a $20 co-pay, not bad at all but....excep
  15. First off, I can't stop thinking about this and what must have been going through that poor kids mind and how he must have suffered. I tear up every time I allow myself to think about it for too long. Second, and I know people grieve in different ways, but the thought of that mother woman making any money off of this whole situation just makes me sick. I'm sorry, this just seems to be bringing out the worst in me. Lots of unchristian like thoughts have been popping into my head where this father and mother are concerned.
  16. I disagree. The majority of people that participated in the last survey choose preferred our current calendar. I'm sure whatever they go with there will be people that aren't happy. The survey asks if you support eliminating certain breaks or shortening them. I prefer the schedule the way it is but was sure to let them know I would support whatever calendar they choose. I think it's great that the kids can complete their exams before going on Christmas break. These are things I didn't think about until I had high school age kids. If you think about it you should be able to
  17. So that is what they are doing. We were coming back from the airport late Sunday night and sat and sat and waited. Finally my husband asked the guy holding the STOP sign if he could just turn around and go another way and we did.
  18. Wow! So glad your son survived. For the record I learned those hand signals back when I learned to ride a bike. I'm not talking about a motorcycle either. We learned to use them when riding our bikes. As I recall they were also discussed in drives ed and there may have even been a question on the test to get my license. Back to your son - I hope he recovers quickly!
  19. Thanks Mr. Dis - I looked it up and you are right about the 90 days. I feel a bit better having read that. I_have 3dogs - Thanks for your advise. I think they have pretty much sold everything they could but you never know. As far as how behind they are, they actually had me look up their bank balance today (they don't have a smart phone or internet) and the first thing that popped up was a notice that said something like "Your mortgage is now 37 days late, would you like to make a payment?" Hopefully it was just a scare tactic by the bank and they will be given enough time to catc
  20. I fear I may have given someone I love some bad advise. Late last year they fell on some hard times. We had our own set of financial challenges so I wasn't in a position to help them out financially but I did tell them that they needed to feed their family first and keep their utilities on. I told them I didn't think the bank would kick them out of their house for missing a payment or two as long as they kept the lines of communication open and let them know what was going on. Well, things picked back up a bit and they were once again able to start making their mortgage payments.
  21. I started thinking how mean that would be but then decided that those two votes are probably from Woodland alums or someone tied to Woodland in one way or another. I know in years past I would pick Paulding County over anyone who wasn't in P.C. just because they were from our county and I really wanted to see them win. When it comes to schools in PC playing schools outside of PC I tend to vote with my heart and not my head
