  1. I would rather the county have it at the school than spend my tax dollars renting out a building.
  2. Yes...it does not matter if you are at fault or not. You should pull from the roadway and either call 9-1-1, or if both drivers agree to no report, go on your way.
  3. Oakley Half-Jackets that are nearly 5 years old....love the interchangeable lenses.
  4. How in the world do two murders commited in other countries have anything to do with out justice system?
  5. It is really funny how people make it sound like BP is purposely dragging out fixing the problem. NO ONE has more to gain than BP when it comes to solving this issue. They have some of the best engineers in the world and are undoubtedly accessing the some of the top minds around the world for a solution. Many of the other oil companies have been interviewed about what their response to a similar problem would have been and they are basically saying it would be basically the same as BP. People are underestimating the magnitude of this failure, it is not as simple as a broken pipe under
  6. Unfortunatly, even the pay lakes are hard to find these days. I remember as a kid there were loads of places to fish, now it is a struggle for a few over pressured ponds.
  7. Very true...the date rape suspect and the violent, stranger on stranger rape suspect are two different animals. For the violent, power control rapist, the act is not about the sexual act, it is about control.
  8. Animal Control was originally under the Paulding Department of Public Safety along with E-911 and the Marshal's Office. The DPS was absolved a couple of years ago and the public safety agencies were reassigned, that left AC as a solo entity and they did not really 'report' to anyone. Apparently in those two years the situation took a dramatic turn for the worse so the BOC determined the proper course was to place them under the Marshal's Office for accountability.
  9. Yup....you would think common sense would clue them in.
  10. 30132 30157 30141 30127 30179 30153 30134 30101
  11. It can also be written as passing in a no passing zone. Most of the striped off limits areas are double yellow striped. If the person drives to the left of a double yellow line they are violating that code section. It is very simple yet people want to complicate it.....you can never cross a solid line....period.
  12. I understand why you feel that way but you have to realize it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. LE can allocate tremendous amounts of resources and never come up with a lead, not one. There is normally nothing to go on, the suspects are using fake IDs and other documents made to match the checks. If you are lucky you have a grainy security camera footage to work with. It is a losing battle for all involved. The best LE can do is take the report and hope a suspect develops down the road who you can tie to the case.
  13. No one knows what the currents will do.
  14. It is usually around 6 months before the lender will start the legal foreclosure proceeding. When they do it normally takes another 2 months to complete it. They have to serve the necessary paperwork, run the notice in the legal section of the newspaper for 4 consecutive weeks, and then auction the property at the courthouse on the first Tuesday of the month.
  15. At some point you have to blame the drivers. You can only do so much to keep people safe. Also, the county has nothing to do with RR crossing arms. They are installed, maintained and on the property of the RR line.
  16. The bailouts of the banks and the auto companies were loans which are already being paid back. The Feds are already dumping a good chunk into the GA school system.
  17. It is pretty much down to increasing the cost or dissolving the system. The Criminal Justice system never comes close to paying for itself and relies heavily on the general fund. Unfortunately, the money is hard to find in the general fund these days.
  18. Not 100% accurate. If the defendant requests a speedy trial then they will get one. The defense attorneys are the ones doing everything they can to delay the trial since witnesses disappear, memories fade, ect. As for the cost, the overwhelming majority of people are let out on bond unless they are arrested for a serious crime so it is not costing the taxpayers anything. Basically every judicial system in the nation is facing the same backlog, we are not alone.
  19. It is normal for cases to appear on the calendar several times before they actually go to trial, normally due to motions by the defense attorney. If it is two misdemeanors and she has no significant criminal record I would expect some sort of plea deal unless the evidence is lacking.
  20. . People who are flown out are in need of the services of a trauma center. I am sure the new hospital will have an excellent emergency room but I highly doubt they will have any trauma capability.
  21. I don't know if anyone in the industry was prepared for this particular failure. The part of the pipe that failed a mile down had a built in fail safe which also failed. Many in the industry say this failure is unheard of.
  22. I do not think anyone is prepared for this.....the total rupture of a pipe a mile deep in the water offers no easy solution.
  23. The county does not 'buy' tags. They are supplied by the state.
  24. It is hard to find access to the trout streams now. All the places I went years ago are now fenced or posted.
