  1. I spent my teen years in Smyrna. As a younger child I would go to the Music Mart with my Daddy on Saturdays and hear some awesome country music, back when it was real country, not country pop. lol. Loved Old South BBq, and The Magnolia Room in Rich's-not to mention the Rich's bakery. McEntrye's is still awesome, and run by awesome people. My Mama used to love to eat at the Sizzler (I think that is the name of it.) Good times, growing up- driving up and down South Cobb drive. Anyone remember Grandma's Biscuits? We used to skip homeroom and go get breakfast there.
  2. Thank you for posting. We live right next door to where the ambulance and helicopter were. I was so worried but didn't want to get in the way. They are in my thoughts and prayers!
  3. I am really worried about a woman who came into my bakery. It was Wed morning, before noon or around noon. She was a bit older, and had a walking stick with a bear's head (I think). She came in asking for water and said she was trying to walk to get her stamina up since her grandchildren were coming to visit. She was pleasant, asked about the bakery, talked some and seemed fine. She got 2 more refills of ice water and stayed 30 or 40 minutes. While I was with a customer she left. Next thing I know my customer came back in and told me the lady was on the side of the road and there were 2 police
  4. If anything, I think the FDA should ban MORE additives and chemicals that get into our food. We have been trying to avoid transfats for years. (especially at our bakery). So many people say the gov shouldn't regulate and we should have "less gov involvement" but they might feel differently if their loved one got seriously sick eating some of the crap we allow in our foods. Especially when it is a known carcinogenic or already banned in another country.
  5. For me it is "yer" instead of "your". Listen close, everybody does it. Drives me nuts.
  6. It depends on how good you are at organizing and price checking. If you are good at it, then forgo the planner. If not, hire one. It should cost 15-20% of your total budget. You can sit down with him/her and decide what all you want them to handle and what you are comfortable handling yourself. The more they do, the more it costs. Even if you choose not to use one, I would suggest hiring someone for the day of the wedding to make sure everything goes as planned so that you can just enjoy the day. That should cost no more than $200 for the one day.
  7. I won't eat eggs, or anything I smell, see or taste them in. No organ meat, no head meat, no weird animals that you can't find on a nice white tray in the grocery store. lol. And I try not to eat anything with transfats. I love all vegetables, almost all fruits. I can tell you what people in Paulding county do like, ECLAIRS. I don't eat them either. lol. But people sure do buy a lot of them.
  8. The orange cake with chocolate ganache icing I had last night at my niece's birthday party. (It came from Flour Child Cakery) A thick spiced Ribeye I had at Gumbeaux's a couple of years ago. Grouper Almondine at Felix's fish Camp in Mobile, AL. I dream of that dish. lol.
  9. My Mom was in a NH for over 9 years before she passed. She had brain damage from a ruptured aneurysm and although we tried, she wasn't safe at home with us taking care of her. I like smaller nursing homes. She was in Carrollton Nursing and Rehab, which was really, really good with her. Older, not especially pretty but the staff was good, and that is the best thing you can hope for. But it was a drive for one of us to see her everyday. We tried a few more, but none were a good fit for her. Finally we got her in The Bryan Center on Powder Springs Road. It was much prettier, nicer, etc, but her c
  10. I got my little 10lb boston terrier at Friends of Gordon Co Animal Shelter. You can find them on FB. The adoption fee is very low. Something like $25. Cordon County is a high kill shelter from what I understand, and won't keep animals long. My Roxie was going to be killed the next day if she wasn't adopted.
  11. What a waste of time and money. Why do we have to put someone's name on everything. Sheesh! If Ragsdale has any integrity he will tell them to forget it.
  12. I think people are just tired of being taxed to death. In this economy $25 or $30 a month is gas money to get back and forth to work for a few days (if you are lucky) or lunch money for your child. And no matter what officials say, we all know we have been lied to before. I am a liberal...who is voting no. Even if it is a good thing for the county, I don't think it is a good time to tax people more. (Unless they make over $250,000 a year. lol)
  13. Pick me, pick me! ARG4275. Thanks Starr & Dru's Nana for letting me know! merry Christmas EVERYONE!
