  1. Yep, Lucky, it's Hiram. I was curious and just checked the school website.
  2. Yay!. Glad to hear you got it fixed. It stinks not having a washer. My Maytag is older and a "real" Maytag before they sold out to Whirlpool and I wouldn't dare trade it in for a new one. DH's grandmother had one that was at least 30 years old (avocado green), it was sold after she passed away a few years ago.
  3. I have a Maytag top loader, 15 years old and it started leaking a few years ago. I called Pate's to come out and it was a tub washer/seal/bearing, something along those lines. It was difficult to replace because it was so hard to get loose and he had to pull the tub out. It was around $200ish to fix it.
  4. I did this with my home in Savannah. After my Dad passed away and left his house to me, it was all in my name so I went to an attorney down there and had him draw up the paperwork and made DH the survivor. It cost less than $1000. back in 2009, but there were 2 properties that we had done at the same time, mine & DH and my sister & her DH had it done all on one bill and we split the cost. ($500 for my half). The whole point of this deed is to prove your husbands intent to leave the home to you in the event he should pass away before you. It keeps greedy family members from trying to l
  5. Exactly! When I was reading his post, I actually found myself using my fingers to show "thiiiiiiis close...". I love the way he writes, it always captures my attention right away.
  6. I'll send you prayers, thoughts, juju, sparkly vibes, luck and anything else it takes to get you invited.
  7. I messaged you. We may still buy products from them, but we will not have them do any installations again. By products I mean chlorine, FROG cartridge replacements, etc, but that's it.
  8. We have an above ground, and all I can tell you is DO NOT go with salt water or any system that uses salt. This will be the 8th year we've had our pool and we might get through this year before having to buy a new one. The Mineral Springs system we had the first five years destroyed it. Saltwater and metal don't mix. The pool people told us when we bought it that it would be fine, it was designed for in ground and above ground pools...NOPE. If we had enough yard space to put an in ground we might have gone that route, but since the septic lines run out in the largest area of our yard, we h
  9. I see many people on their phones just texting away while driving. If it's so important, please pull over to a safe place and do it, but not while driving. I can't text and drive, I've tried it while in my cul de sac, it was definitely a no go. Not to mention, it's hard to make a call on my phone while driving, there are so many buttons to press that is really distracting, so I don't. I have programmed all important numbers into my truck's hands free calling system, so I can call or answer and never take my hand off the wheel or eyes off the road.
  10. Agreed. Ali was a great boxer/athlete, but that's it. With quotes like you posted above, he's certainly not a real American and he's a shame to black people.
  11. I had no idea, but then I'm not a fan of Muhammad Ali. I would like to know WHY he said these things and why no one made a big deal of it back in 1975 when he said it and what he hoped to gain from that kind of chatter. He boxed for a living, he wasn't anyone's hero.
  12. Yay! Thank you for picking up the little guy. I'm sure his owners will be happy to have him home.
  13. RIP Mr. Rooney and thank you for the wonderful movies, laughs and memories. I got my first taste of Mickey Rooney in "The Black Stallion" when I was a kid. He was a gifted actor.
  14. I'm sorry for your loss. They become a part of our hearts from the moment we bring them into our lives. It's hard to lose them, but like others have said, he will be waiting for you on the other side of the Bridge one day.
  15. They looked like a set of work keys, there were no car keys on them. Come to think of it, they may have been the set with the owners P O box key on it. I got a pretty good look at them and it looked like house keys and one was big like the store keys that say do not duplicate on them.
  16. I was in the Hiram post office this morning when a lady turned in some keys she found on one the tables in the lobby. Just a FYI.
  17. I really like Jimmy Fallon, especially his skits with Justin Timberlake. DH and I haven't watched Letterman in years, he's kind of boring to me.
  18. Actually, I was thinking of a family member who thinks they are entitled to whatever they want. One of my family members is like this and has been known to break into a home to get what she thinks is hers. She will also lie and cheat to get it. I really hate to post this about someone in my family, not immediate family BTW, but it's true. I really hope this family can get back their treasured pieces.
  19. One of my favorite things Northerner's say is "please"? ( yes, with the questionmark), meaning "excuse me". I lived in Ohio for a year whe I was 15 and picked up that habit. My DH still teases me about it, although I rarely use it anymore. Oh and, "you guys", I still use that one along with y'all. How about ice box instead of refrigerator? My grandma always used that one. Tomatuhs and potatuhs, winduhs or winders instead of windows.
  20. I call them Reesee cups too.
  21. Oh my word! I hope this family can get back the items that were stolen. Part of me has to wonder though, if the person(s) that broke in are someone the family knows. From the looks of the place and what was taken, those scumbags knew what they were looking for. Then again, I'm not a LEO, so it's just my guess.
  22. Maybe someone will reopen Snappers. It was in that location before UB's and had really good food.
  23. We've only been to Bay Breeze in Douglasville once, but the food was very good. Maybe tonight would be a good night since we eat out on Wednesday's.
  24. No silly, he's a college student. He's in a Radiography program and after a couple months of applying, he was hired on as a Nutrition Assistant. He wanted to get his foot in the door and have employment history with Wellstar once he completes his education. HIs Mother (me), says he will not be done with his education until he has earned AT LEAST his Bachelors Degree.
