  1. I thought LaCocina was the place where people on this board were complaining that the restaurant added tips to charge cards without the customer's knowledge and credit/debit card numbers were stolen. I have never eaten there because of it.
  2. I didn't know that he wrote Caddyshack until I saw a biography on it one night a few weeks ago. He also wrote Animal House, which I didn't know. He was always very funny as an actor as well.
  3. My family uses go phones. We each add $25 every three months. No bills. I hate cell phones and refuse to use one unless I absolutely have to. I never give my number to anyone when I fill out a form that asks for a cell phone number because it stays in my purse, turned off, until I want to call somebody. WE have a land line at home and that works out just fine for us. It is under $100 a month including our internet service. AT&T.

    Wreck?

I'm glad you heard from him! I was just going to write that maybe he got caught up in the traffic backup from the wreck(s).
  5. I hope they can plow the slush off of 278 before it refreezes tonight.
  6. We live off of Sweetwater Church. It was fine as long as you stayed in the tire ruts. They were just wet. In fact it was fine all the way in to Atlanta (Sweetwater/Brownsville Rd./CH James/Bankhead Hwy.) until I got to 285 overpass and it wasn't very clear, but still passable. It is very slushy.
  7. I just made it in to Atlanta to work. The roads are really not that bad if you stay in the tire ruts. They are mostly just wet. Even Brownsville Road was OK in most parts. You don't want to drive at the speed limit but you don't have to crawl, either. It took me my usual time (50 minutes) to make it to work. The worst road by far was Hollowell Pkwy. once I got past 285. Even those are OK if you go a little slower. It looks like the sun is trying to come out so that will help.
  8. I just talked to my boss and she drove in to work in Atlanta from Conyers. She said the roads are "fine" because the snow is covering the ice and you can get good traction. I'm sure that won't be the case when people start driving on the snow and it's down to ice again. I'm not going to try it. It has stopped snowing here and it is very pretty with all the snow on the tree limbs. My power flickered on and off about 10 minutes ago though.
  9. Has anyone ventured out this morning? The interstates look pretty good but I'm not sure I can get to an interstate. My subdivision has had zero traffic yesterday and this morning. And I have to go up hills to get to Sweetwater Church. My boss is on her way to work from Conyers but I'm not sure I'm going. Even if it warms up and melts today, it won't be off the roads unless somebody plows the slush off. It is snowing pretty hard right now at my house. We have about 2 inches of snow on the ground and it's still snowing.
  10. 61 is where my husband went off the road this morning. It is a long and hilly road. Heck, it's a dangerous road when it's NOT icy or snowy!
  11. My husband tried to make it home from Cartersville at about 7:00 this morning. Ran off the road, got pulled out by a nice guy in a Jeep Cherokee and went back to work where he will stay until probably Thursday night. He works for the Bartow County road department so he has to be at work no matter what. Not trying to come home again any time soon.
  12. We have a lot of sleet right now at our house. We are at Sweetwater Church Road. I was going to try to make it to Atlanta to work today but I would probably not get home again today so I'm staying here. My husband is coming home from Cartersville at 7:00 this morning. I hope it's not too bad of a drive for him. He has to go back at 7:00 tonight. Yuck!
  13. I always admired her for the fact that you never heard anything bad about her - ever. She was a happy little girl who grew up in to a happy adult.
  14. Duncan Hines makes a red velvet cake mix. You add water, oil and eggs. It isn't too bad, either.
  15. This is the first I'm hearing of it this morning. I checked the Weather CHannel hour by hour for Hiram and the temperature never gets below 35 degrees until Wednesday night around 9:00pm. So why are they saying snow and ice tomorrow? I'm tired of weather.
  16. I am glad to hear that you are recovering, especially from the c-diff. That is very dangerous and it killed my dad when he had cancer. I hope you are back to good health again soon!
  17. There were just a few spots on C.H. James to Veterans Memorial but not bad. Brownsville Road still has a few spots, too, but not as many as yesterday afternoon.
  18. When I left the house this morning at about 9:45, Brownsville Road was still covered in snow going toward Cobb County. The other direction was much clearer. It was icy enough that I actually turned around to go back home, thought about it a minute, and went on down Brownsville. C.H. James Parkway going toward Austell still has a lot of ice and snow going in that direction but, once again, the other direction is mostly clear. It was an almost entirely clear ride on Veterans Memorial going toward Atlanta all the way in. Big difference between that road and Brownsville Road, let me tell you.
  19. Does anyone know how Bankhead Hwy./Veterans Memorial/Donald Lee HOllowell is today? I will be on it tomorrow and it was a very bad scene yesterday on that road.
  20. I'm at work in Atlanta. If I see anything when I leave at 4:30, I'll let you know.
