  1. I have also never seen so many dragonflies! There are a ton of them in our yard. I don't mind them because they don't sting.
  2. Thanks! I'll tell my husband. I also found on line an idea for a trap using vinegar and dish soap. Worth a shot.
  3. I think we might have to since there are so many of them. This is the worst I've ever seen them in our yard.
  4. We found several nests of wasps, bees and hornets in our yard this weekend. I was stung 4 times and my husband 7 times in different areas of our yard. How do you get rid of them besides spraying them with Raid? Can you buy anything that you put in a spreader in your yard (like you do with fertilizer) that can control them? We can't even enjoy our yard this year they are so bad. I was stung by two black wasps (or hornets, I have no idea) and then something that was shaped like a hornet but had stripes like a bee.
  5. Do you have woods by your house? Maybe she was out riding her bike and had to suddenly go to the bathroom......
  6. My son participated in a Civil War living history event at Atlanta History Center this past Saturday. It was awesome. I had never been there and the admission price was fair enough for what you got to see in the museums and at the Smith farm on the grounds (where the living history was reenacted). It was very interesting and I enjoyed it. There were several Battle of Atlanta events going on this past weekend. So much to do and see with it being a 150th anniversary year of the Civil War.
  7. Very pretty! But I can't swim so when I come over I'll have to just hang out on one of those sitting ledges you had built in for me.
  8. Yikes! Is that a threat or a promise?!
  9. My husband needs to watch that video.
  10. I'm happy that you're feeling better and at home! We've all missed your dinner posts!
  11. The bottom of that pool is beautiful! I've seen pictures of pools with an almost black bottom and sides and the pool looks dark. But you can drop a penny in and see it at the bottom.
  12. Yeah, what Dana said...
  13. My grandparents came here from Italy when they were 5 and 10 years old. They learned English when they got here and spoke Italian at home. My mom grew up speaking both languages at home and would be in big trouble with her parents if she attempted to speak Italian to a person she knew couldn't speak the language. It was rude. We just hired a guy who speaks no English. Can't read it and had to have somebody come in with him to fill out his paperwork and we had to tell his interpreter what time he had to come in to work and where he should report. We hired him because his cousin or somebody
  14. Everyone hates Miracle Whip but my Mom only used Miracle Whip in her potato salad. She hated mayo. She made the best potato salad and had to bring it to every single event my dad's family had (4th of July picnics, etc.) It was awesome and the huge bowl she always brought full was always empty when we went home. But everyone who ate it claimed to hate Miracle Whip. Also, she NEVER used sweet pickles! Gross. She only used dill pickle and the juice from the jar. Regular potato peeled boiled and cut in to chunks, boiled eggs cut up, onion, dill pickle chopped up and some juice thrown in, green
  15. Yes, I wonder why they aren't showing her reruns on MeTV. Gilligan, Happy Days and the Rifleman are all on there. Carol should be there.
  16. That's for sure. I'm proud when he represents either side and so is he.
  17. HA!!! It depends on what you mean by "good guys" - he is in blue this weekend so my Yankee lovin' heart is very proud! His unit is the 125t Ohio Volunteer. He also has all of the uniform to dress as a confederate when they are needed (that's known as "cross dressing" in the hobby!). He gets to do more reenactments by having uniforms and equipment for both sides. Very expensive though. But a lot of fun!! He has been doing this since he was 16 (he's 21 now).
  18. I don't know about filming at Marietta HS but I do know that on Saturday and probably again on Sunday, Marietta HS and some other schools are being used as parking lots for the festivities at the mountain. You park there and they bus you to the mountain and back.
  19. My son will be reenacting there this weekend! It will be a big event for sure. Also, plenty going on around the square in Marietta.
  20. Walking to friends houses, Dairy Queen barefoot. Coming home when the street lights came on. Sleeping in the basement because the 2nd floor bedrooms were just too hot. My parents grilling out on Sunday. 4th of July picnic at my grandparent's house every year with all of my aunts, uncles and cousins. Grandpa would grill T-bone steaks and hamburgers and we would have corn fritters from Hauser's Café.(I still crave corn fritters every 4th of July). Watching fireworks every year with my cousins at the golf course. Playing school with my sisters (we couldn't wait for school to end and t
  21. I think I would welcome her friends. At least that would tell me the end is in sight. So far, nothing.
