  1. 15 bean soup and cornbread. Followed by a few Tums probably.
  2. My mom has been gone for 10 years and I still get teary when I walk in to the store around Mother's Day. I can't look at the cards. She wore the perfume Beautiful by Estee Lauder and if I pass someone wearing it, I still want to bawl. Her favorite store was Kroger and she went there almost every morning really early. I walk in and remember her every single time I go there. Sometimes I forget she died and I hear a funny joke or story or I have good news to share and I just want to pick up the phone and call her. My Dad has been gone for 2 years and every Sunday morning at 6:30, I want t
  3. Is this the area where a hunter found human bones? Edit - I guess not. The AJC said the bones were found Friday.
  4. My husband and I use the Wal-Mart in Hiram. We have had no problems with either the service or the doctors there. I will go back again in December for an eye exam for contacts/glasses.
  5. They are probably just leveling right now. This is done so the final paving work will last longer and not get so many potholes and cracks. They will come back and make it all smooth and pretty. My husband has worked in the paving business for the past 27 years. When our son was little, we would be driving somewhere and smell new asphalt. My husband would ask my son "what't that smell?" and my son would say "Money!!!!!!!"
  6. Hopefully, puking boy won't spread his cheer to the rest of the family. I would have a prescription for some kind of anti-nausea medicine on hand for your trip.
  7. Sammich instead of sandwich (I hear that a lot on radio commercials), sell and sale used incorrectly and, although it's not a mispronunciation, the phrase "do what?" when you say something to somebody and they weren't paying attention. Oh, and "might could".
  8. Wow! I hope everyone gets better before you leave! Sounds like you will have a day of doctor and vet visits to get everyone ready to go.
  9. It's ill-i-noy - no s sound at the end. I was born there and lived there for 25 years. Bugs me too. although most people from the area I grew up in say it el-a-noy.
  10. Thanks for the info on cinnamon. I didn't know. I've heard that vinegar is supposed to be good for blood sugar, too. And weight loss. If that is true, I need to have an IV pumping vinegar into my veins 24/7.
  11. what does cinnamon do for you as a supplement?
  12. I can tell you this - in order to do cobbler right, you need the fruit filling to be hot before you put the cobbler topping on top of it to bake. If you don't, the bottom of the topping will still be gooey and gross when the top looks done. I use Paula Deen's recipe for cobbler, using whatever fruit I want to use. I think someone already posted it - the one where you melt a whole stick of butter in the pan as the first step!
  13. Do you have a neighbor who is using a generator? They sound loud sometimes. One of our neighbors has an air conditioning unit that sounds like a helicopter taking off. Maybe it's something like that. I hope you find out what it is soon. That would drive me crazy if I heard it 24/7.
  14. Spoon. You can cut with the edge of it, pick up pieces and still get the juice!
  15. I go every year for the annual pap and also a mammogram. I have had the mammogram every year since I turned 40. I'm 50 now and I had a colonoscopy in July. I refuse to die of something that I can have checked out on an annual basis to make sure all is well. My mom died of ovarian cancer so I never miss the appointments. Isn't there a mobile mammogram bus type of thing sponsored by the county health department that comes around every so often? I think they are really inexpensive. That might be up in Illinois though, not down here. I have never paid anything for my mammograms in the 10 ye
  16. Fuji is a fellow Civil War reenactor with my son. He is the coolest, nicest guy you would every want to meet. Thank God the dog stepped in between the car and his son.
  17. That's where we bought our iComfort mattresses. Love them (both the store and the mattress).
  18. Do you make these free form and not from plaster casts and forms?! You do beautiful work!
  19. He did. It sounded like a little horn on a scooter or something.
  20. When my son had his learner's permit, we let him drive when we went up to Illinois for Christmas. Once we passed Chattanooga, he would take over and he drove the rest of the way "home" which was about 9 hours. It was in the winter and once we got around Springfield, IL, it started to snow a little. I was freaking out and told my husband it was time to pull over and take over the driving for the day. My husband said he needed the experience and had my son drive the rest of the way to my Dad's house (about 1.25 hours). He did fine. Every time we went somewhere when he was learning to drive
  21. Motorcycles are very hard to see sometimes. I was changing lanes at the Marietta Square once and I looked but didn't see anyone and started my lane change when I heard a horn blowing. I slowed and looked to the right and saw a guy on a motorcycle cussing at me and still blowing his horn. I did not see him. We got stopped at the light and he kept looking at me and shaking his head and mouthing at me. I mouthed to him "I'm sorry!". He continued to act all pissed, etc. WTH. I didn't see him! I hate to drive around motorcycles.
  22. good thing you are going. I went to have a mole looked at on my back that I was concerned about. That one was fine but the one next to it that just looked like a slightly large freckle was removed and it came back from the lab as being "active but not cancerous" - whatever that means. I need whole body check one of these days. I detassled seed corn when I was a teenager for 3 years wearing NO sunscreen. I thought it was so cool to get a really bad burn and then it turned in to a tan. My mom preached sunscreen all the time but, as usual, I tuned her out.
  23. When I was in beauty school, we learned that red heads grow less hair on their heads per square inch than other colors of hair. Blondes have the most. It was never explained why though.
