  1. the stuff in the store called Snow Cream is the same thing we used to buy growing up called Ice Milk.
  2. My husband works for Bartow County and they get their shots free every year. He is not getting the flu shot this year because they make him really sick. My son and I never get the shot and we are never sick. My husband stays sick all winter. This year he won't be getting the flu shot. He gets the pneumonia shot when he needs one but I think he said they get those every 3 years, not every year. I don't think that one makes him sick.
  3. I was not able to get on AJC.com this morning until about 1/2 hour ago. They must be having some serious issues this morning.
  4. I believe talcum powder was responsible for my mom's ovarian cancer. The doctor thought so, too.
  5. All cats seem to hate me. What does that mean?
  6. How I clean my cast iron depends on what I've cooked in it. Usually when I cook eggs, I use a little bacon grease to cook them and then I just wipe it out with a paper towel and put it back in the cabinet. If I fry something that sticks a little, I will try to use a scrubber pad and hot water. Last resort is a little soapy water but I try not to do that. My cast iron griddle I almost always just wipe off. My cornbread pan and loaf pan I usually have to scrub. If the pans have been seasoned right, they are the best non-stick pans you could ever use!

    Leash Law

The leash law doesn't apply in my subdivision. The worst offender (until their dog died) was our neighbor across the street. Never on a leash and then they would beat the dog for leaving the yard or running away from them while walking. They know better, too. He's a cop. We have a ton of dogs roaming the neighborhood. We called animal control once and they told us to go get the animal and put it in our back yard and they would come and get it when they had time.
  8. We use Doug Sanders at Sanders Construction. he used to be a member here. I think he still is but not sure. Anyway, he's very good and good prices, too. Nice guy as well.
  9. I have owned Toyotas and Buicks and I have to say that there is more leg room in the driver's seat of a Buick. I can't drive them - I have to push the seat too close to the steering wheel in order to reach the gas pedal. Toyotas have shorter leg space (don't know how to say it) - meaning I can easily reach the gas pedal without being right on top of the steering wheel. Just my observations.
  10. She's very cute! I love her chubby face!
  11. Same here. My husband works for the Bartow Co. road department and he carries our family insurance. I used to carry it but his was the exact same coverage for almost half the cost every month. About 5 years ago, they added a service charge (I think it's $20 each week) to his bi-weekly rate because I was eligible for insurance with my employer but had it with his. They have not said anything about terminating my coverage yet. It might happen but so far it hasn't. It is still cheaper for me to be on his insurance, service charge and all, so I'm staying on it as long as they let me stay on
  12. Yes, you are right about that being insulting.
  13. I don't think anyone is being insulting because they say they don't believe in ghosts. Until he died, my dad didn't believe in ghosts, either, even though he lived in the same haunted house as the rest of us. Like LPPT said, some people are sensitive to it and some are not. My dad was obviously not sensitive to it. Most of my family is like my dad and not sensitive. I am somewhat but not like my sister Val. My sister, my mom and one of my aunts (my mom's sister) are/were ones that could see ghosts. Although I heard the ghosts in our house, I never saw them (thanks be to God). I had an o
  14. Not true. I grew up in a haunted house. Ghosts are real. My sister Valerie sees them. She doesn't want to see them but they appear in her house. I'd love to hear somebody try and tell her that ghosts are figments of her imagination.
  15. Isn't there a web site called Paulding Paranormal? I think a few members are part of it. If they are still around. the shadowy thing would be enough to make me pack up and leave.
  16. ...because she knows she's getting off very easy.
  17. If it opens up, and it has a row of brushes on the bottom that roll, you have a "silent butler". You brush it across crumbs on your table top and it picks them up. You then open it up and dump the crumbs in the garbage. It's hard to tell from the picture. How big is it? If it's about 4-6 inches wide, that's probably what it is.
  18. I read Cold Sassy Tree and Tangerine when my son had to read them in school and I liked both. I took a class called Novels my Jr. year in high school and loved it. The class was assigned a book to read and then it was discussed and we had quizzes and tests on it while we read through it. It was an easy "A" for me. We read a lot of good books that I have read and re-read since then. I enjoyed them even more when I didn't HAVE to read them. My all time favorites are: Tess of the D'urbervilles Pride and Prejudice The Good Earth To Kill A Mockingbird The Scarlet Letter So
  19. That's who I saw, too - Iatridis. He is really nice and thorough.
  20. This is weird but whenever it was a day or two away from a huge snowstorm in Illinois, my mom's scalp hurt so bad she could barely comb her hair. It only happened when it was going to snow a lot.
  21. Georgia Lung Associates - Dr. Aris Iatridis. He is the sleep disorder specialist there. . They have their own sleep lab on site. They are located next to Wellstar Cobb General. I liked them a lot when I went last year to be checked for sleep apnea (I don't have it). Good luck!
